Lucas 13
1En aquel momento llegaron algunas personas a traerle la noticia de esos galileos cuya sangre Pilato había mezclado con la de sus sacrificios. And there were present, at that very time, some who were reporting about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate mixed with their sacrifices.2Y respondiendo les dijo: “¿Pensáis que estos galileos fueron los más pecadores de todos los galileos, porque han sufrido estas cosas? And responding, he said to them: “Do you think that these Galileans must have sinned more than all other Galileans, because they suffered so much?3Os digo que de ninguna manera, sino que todos pereceréis igualmente si no os arrepentís. No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you will all perish similarly.4O bien aquellos dieciocho, sobre los cuales cayó la torre de Siloé y los mató, ¿pensáis que eran más culpables que todos los demás habitantes de Jerusalén? And those eighteen upon whom the tower of Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they also were greater transgressors than all the men living in Jerusalem?5Os digo que de ninguna manera sino que todos pereceréis igualmente si no os convertís”. No, I tell you. But if you do not repent, you will all perish similarly.”6Y dijo esta parábola: “Un hombre tenía una higuera plantada en su viña. Vino a buscar fruto de ella, y no lo halló. And he also told this parable: “A certain man had a fig tree, which was planted in his vineyard. And he came seeking fruit on it, but found none.7Entonces dijo al viñador: “Mira, tres años hace que vengo a buscar fruto en esta higuera, y no lo hallo. ¡Córtala! ¿Por qué ha de inutilizar la tierra?” Then he said to the cultivator of the vineyard: ‘Behold, for these three years I came seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I have found none. Therefore, cut it down. For why should it even occupy the land?’8Mas él le respondió y dijo: “Señor, déjala todavía este año, hasta que yo cave alrededor y eche abono. But in response, he said to him: ‘Lord, let it be for this year also, during which time I will dig around it and add fertilizer.9Quizá dé fruto en lo futuro; si no, la cortarás”. And, indeed, it should bear fruit. But if not, in the future, you shall cut it down.’ ”10Un día sabático enseñaba en una sinagoga. Now he was teaching in their synagogue on the Sabbaths.11Había allí una mujer que tenía desde hacía dieciocho años, un espíritu de enfermedad: estaba toda encorvada, y sin poder absolutamente enderezarse. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years. And she was bent over; and she was unable to look upwards at all.12Al verla Jesús, la llamó y le dijo: “Mujer, queda libre de tu enfermedad”. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to himself, and he said to her, “Woman, you are released from your infirmity.”13Y puso sobre ella sus manos, y al punto se enderezó y se puso a glorificar a Dios. And he laid his hands upon her, and immediately she was straightened, and she glorified God.14Entonces, el jefe de la sinagoga, indignado porque Jesús había curado en día sabático, respondió y dijo al pueblo: “Hay seis días para trabajar; en esos días podéis venir para haceros curar, y no el día de sábado”. Then, as a result, the ruler of the synagogue became angry that Jesus had cured on the Sabbath, and he said to the crowd: “There are six days on which you ought to work. Therefore, come and be cured on those, and not on the day of the Sabbath.”15Mas Jesús le replicó diciendo: “Hipócritas, ¿cada uno de vosotros no desata su buey o su asno del pesebre, en día sabático, para llevarlo al abrevadero? Then the Lord said to him in response: “You hypocrites! Does not each one of you, on the Sabbath, release his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it to water?16Y a esta, que es una hija de Abrahán, que Satanás tenía ligada hace ya dieciocho años, ¿no se la había de libertar de sus ataduras, en día sabático?” So then, should not this daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound for lo these eighteen years, be released from this restraint on the day of the Sabbath?”17A estas palabras, todos sus adversarios quedaron anonadados de vergüenza, en tanto que la muchedumbre entera se gozaba de todas las cosas gloriosas hechas por Él. And all the people rejoiced in everything that was being done gloriously by him.18Dijo entonces: “¿A qué es semejante el reino de Dios, y con qué podré compararlo? And so he said: “To what is the kingdom of God similar, and to what figure shall I compare it?19Es semejante a un grano de mostaza que un hombre tomó y fue a sembrar en su huerta; creció, vino a ser un árbol, y los pájaros del cielo llegaron a anidar en sus ramas”. It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and cast into his garden. And it grew, and it became a great tree, and the birds of the air rested in its branches.”20Dijo todavía: “¿Con qué podré comparar el reino de Dios? And again, he said: “To what figure shall I compare the kingdom of God?21Es semejante a la levadura que una mujer tomó y escondió en tres medidas de harina y, finalmente, todo fermentó”. And he was traveling through the cities and towns, teaching and making his way to Jerusalem.23Díjole uno: “Señor, ¿los que se salvan serán pocos?” And someone said to him, “Lord, are they few who are saved?” But he said to them:24Respondioles: “Pelead para entrar por la puerta angosta, porque muchos, os lo declaro, tratarán de entrar y no podrán. “Strive to enter through the narrow gate. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and not be able.25En seguida que el dueño de casa se haya despertado y haya cerrado la puerta, vosotros, estando fuera, os pondréis a llamar a la puerta diciendo: “¡Señor, ábrenos!” Mas él respondiendo os dirá: “No os conozco (ni sé) de dónde sois”. Then, when the father of the family will have entered and shut the door, you will begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us.’ And in response, he will say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from.’26Entonces comenzaréis a decir: “Comimos y bebimos delante de ti, y enseñaste en nuestras plazas”. Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’27Pero él os dirá: “Os digo, no sé de dónde sois. Alejaos de mí, obradores todos de iniquidad”. And he will say to you: ‘I do not know where you are from. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity!’28Allí será el llanto y el rechinar de dientes, cuando veáis a Abrahán, a Isaac y a Jacob y a todos los profetas en el reino de Dios, y a vosotros arrojados fuera. In that place, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, yet you yourselves are expelled outside.29y del oriente y del occidente, del norte y del mediodía vendrán a sentarse a la mesa en el reino de Dios. And they will arrive from the East, and the West, and the North, and the South; and they will recline at table in the kingdom of God.30Y así hay últimos que serán primeros, y primeros que serán últimos”. And behold, those who are last will be first, and those who are first will be last.”31En ese momento se acercaron algunos fariseos, para decirle: “¡Sal, vete de aquí, porque Herodes te quiere matar”. On the same day, some of the Pharisees approached, saying to him: “Depart, and go away from here. For Herod wishes to kill you.”32Y les dijo: “Id a decir a ese zorro: He aquí que echo demonios y obro curaciones hoy y mañana; el tercer día habré terminado. And he said to them: “Go and tell that fox: ‘Behold, I cast out demons and accomplish healings, today and tomorrow. And on the third day I reach the end.’33Pero hoy, mañana y al otro día, es necesario que Yo ande, porque no cabe que un profeta perezca fuera de Jerusalén”. Yet truly, it is necessary for me to walk today and tomorrow and the following day. For it does not fall to a prophet to perish beyond Jerusalem.34Jerusalén, Jerusalén, tú que matas a los profetas, y apedreas a los que te son enviados, ¡cuántas veces quise Yo reunir a tus hijos, como la gallina reúne su pollada debajo de sus alas, y vosotros no lo habéis querido! Jerusalem, Jerusalem! You kill the prophets, and you stone those who are sent to you. Daily, I wanted to gather together your children, in the manner of a bird with her nest under her wings, but you were not willing!35Ved que vuestra casa os va a quedar desierta. Yo os lo digo, no me volveréis a ver, hasta que llegue el tiempo en que digáis: “¡Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor!” Behold, your house will be left desolate for you. But I say to you, that you shall not see me, until it happens that you say: ‘Blessed is he who has arrived in the name of the Lord.’ ”
