Lucas 14
1Como Él hubiese ido a casa de un jefe de los fariseos, un día sabático a comer, ellos lo acechaban. And it happened that, when Jesus entered the house of a certain leader of the Pharisees on the Sabbath to eat bread, they were observing him.2Estaba allí, delante de Él un hombre hidrópico. And behold, a certain man before him was afflicted with edema.3Tomando la palabra, Jesús preguntó a los doctores de la Ley y a los fariseos: “¿Es lícito curar, en día sabático, o no?” And responding, Jesus spoke to the experts in the law and to the Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to cure on the Sabbath?”4Pero ellos guardaron silencio. Tomándolo, entonces, de la mano, lo sanó y lo despidió. But they kept silent. Yet truly, taking hold of him, he healed him and sent him away.5Y les dijo: “¿Quién hay de vosotros, que viendo a su hijo o su buey caído en un pozo, no lo saque pronto de allí, aun en día de sábado?” And responding to them, he said, “Which of you will have a donkey or an ox fall into a pit, and will not promptly pull him out, on the day of the Sabbath?”6Y no fueron capaces de responder a esto. And then he who called both you and him, approaching, may say to you, ‘Give this place to him.’ And then you would begin, with shame, to take the last place.10Por el contrario, cuando seas invitado, ve a ponerte en el último lugar, para que, cuando entre el que te invitó, te diga: “Amigo, sube más arriba”. Y entonces tendrás honor a los ojos de todos los convidados. But when you are invited, go, sit down in the lowest place, so that, when he who invited you arrives, he may say to you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the sight of those who sit at table together with you.11Porque el que se levanta, será abajado; y el que se abaja, será levantado”. For everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.”12También dijo al que lo había invitado: “Cuando des un almuerzo o una cena, no invites a tus amigos, ni a tus hermanos, ni a tus parientes, ni a vecinos ricos, no sea, que ellos te inviten a su vez, y que esto sea tu pago. Then he also said to the one who had invited him: “When you prepare a lunch or dinner, do not choose to call your friends, or your brothers, or your relatives, or your wealthy neighbors, lest perhaps they might then invite you in return and repayment would made to you.13Antes bien, cuando des un banquete, convida a los pobres, a los lisiados, a los cojos, y a los ciegos. So he said to him: “A certain man prepared a great feast, and he invited many.17Y envió a su servidor, a la hora del festín, a decir a los convidados: “Venid, porque ya todo está pronto”. And he sent his servant, at the hour of the feast, to tell the invited to come; for now everything was ready.18Y todos a una comenzaron a excusarse. El primero le dijo: “He comprado un campo, y es preciso que vaya a verlo; te ruego me des por excusado”. And at once they all began to make excuses. The first said to him: ‘I bought a farm, and I need to go out and see it. I ask you to excuse me.’19Otro dijo: “He comprado cinco yuntas de bueyes, y me voy a probarlas; te ruego me tengas por excusado”. And another said: ‘I bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to examine them. I ask you to excuse me.’20Otro dijo: “Me he casado, y por tanto no puedo ir”. And another said, ‘I have taken a wife, and therefore I am not able to go.’21El servidor se volvió a contar todo esto a su amo. Entonces, lleno de ira el dueño de casa, dijo a su servidor: “Sal en seguida a las calles y callejuelas de la ciudad; y tráeme aquí los pobres, y lisiados, y ciegos y cojos”. And returning, the servant reported these things to his lord. Then the father of the family, becoming angry, said to his servant: ‘Go out quickly into the streets and neighborhoods of the city. And lead here the poor, and the disabled, and the blind, and the lame.’22El servidor vino a decirle: “Señor, se ha hecho lo que tú mandaste, y aún hay sitio”. And the servant said: ‘It has been done, just as you ordered, lord, and there is still room.’23Y el amo dijo al servidor: “Ve a lo largo de los caminos y de los cercados, y compele a entrar, para que se llene mi casa. And the lord said to the servant: ‘Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel them to enter, so that my house may be filled.24Porque yo os digo, ninguno de aquellos varones que fueron convidados gozará de mi festín”. For I tell you, that none of those men who were invited will taste of my feast.’ ”25Como grandes muchedumbres le iban siguiendo por el camino, se volvió y les dijo: Now great crowds traveled with him. And turning around, he said to them:26“Si alguno viene a Mí y no odia a su padre, a su madre, a su mujer, a sus hijos, a sus hermanos y a sus hermanas, y aun también a su propia vida, no puede ser discípulo mío. “If anyone comes to me, and does not hate his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and yes, even his own life, he is not able to be my disciple.27Todo aquel que no lleva su propia cruz y no anda en pos de Mí, no puede ser discípulo mío”. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after me, is not able to be my disciple.28“Porque, ¿quién de entre vosotros, queriendo edificar una torre, no se sienta primero a calcular el gasto y a ver si tiene con qué acabarla?
