Lucas 18
1Les propuso una parábola sobre la necesidad de que orasen siempre sin desalentarse: Now he also told them a parable, that we should continually pray and not cease,2“Había en una ciudad un juez que no temía a Dios y no hacía ningún caso de los hombres. saying: “There was a certain judge in a certain city, who did not fear God and did not respect man.3Había también allí, en esta misma ciudad, una viuda, que iba a buscarlo y le decía: “Hazme justicia librándome de mi adversario”. But there was a certain widow in that city, and she went to him, saying, ‘Vindicate me from my adversary.’4Y por algún tiempo no quiso; mas después dijo para sí: “Aunque no temo a Dios, ni respeto a hombre, And he refused to do so for a long time. But afterwards, he said within himself: ‘Even though I do not fear God, nor respect man,5sin embargo, porque esta viuda me importuna, le haré justicia, no sea que al fin venga y me arañe la cara. yet because this widow is pestering me, I will vindicate her, lest by returning, she may, in the end, wear me out.’ ”6Y el Señor agregó: “Habéis oído el lenguaje de aquel juez inicuo. Then the Lord said: “Listen to what the unjust judge said.7¿Y Dios no habrá de vengar a sus elegidos, que claman a Él día y noche, y se mostraría tardío con respecto a ellos? So then, will not God grant the vindication of his elect, who cry out to him day and night? Or will he continue to endure them?8Yo os digo que ejercerá la venganza de ellos prontamente. Pero el Hijo del hombre, cuando vuelva, ¿hallará por ventura la fe sobre la tierra?”. I tell you that he will quickly bring vindication to them. Yet truly, when the Son of man returns, do you think that he will find faith on earth?”9Para algunos, los que estaban persuadidos en sí mismos de su propia justicia, y que tenían en nada a los demás, dijo también esta parábola: Now about certain persons who consider themselves to be just, while disdaining others, he told also this parable:10“Dos hombres subieron al Templo a orar, el uno fariseo, el otra publicano. “Two men ascended to the temple, in order to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.11El fariseo, erguido, oraba en su corazón de esta manera: “Oh Dios, te doy gracias de que no soy como los demás hombres, que son ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni como el publicano ese. Standing, the Pharisee prayed within himself in this way: ‘O God, I give thanks to you that I am not like the rest of men: robbers, unjust, adulterers, even as this tax collector chooses to be.12Ayuno dos veces en la semana y doy el diezmo de todo cuanto poseo”. I fast twice between Sabbaths. I give tithes from all that I possess.’13El publicano, por su parte, quedándose a la distancia, no osaba ni aun levantar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho diciendo: “Oh Dios, compadécete de mí, el pecador”. And the tax collector, standing at a distance, was not willing to even lift up his eyes to heaven. But he struck his chest, saying: ‘O God, be merciful to me, a sinner.’14Os digo: este bajó a su casa justificado, mas no el otro; porque el que se eleva, será abajado; y el que se abaja, será elevado”. I say to you, this one descended to his house justified, but not the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled; and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”15Y le traían también los niñitos, para que los tocase; viendo lo cual, los discípulos los regañaban. And they were bringing little children to him, so that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw this, they rebuked them.16Pero Jesús llamó a los niños, diciendo: “Dejad a los pequeñuelos venir a Mí: no les impidáis; porque de los tales es el reino de Dios. But Jesus, calling them together, said: “Allow the children to come to me, and do not be an obstacle to them. For of such is the kingdom of God.17En verdad os digo: quien no recibe el reino de Dios como un niñito, no entrará en él”. Amen, I say to you, whoever will not accept the kingdom of God like a child, will not enter into it.”18Preguntole cierto dignatario: “Maestro bueno, ¿qué he de hacer para poseer en herencia la vida eterna?” And a certain leader questioned him, saying: “Good teacher, what should I do to possess eternal life?”19Jesús le dijo: “¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Nadie es bueno, sino uno: Dios. Then Jesus said to him: “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.20Conoces los mandamientos. “No cometerás adulterio, no matarás, no robarás, no dirás falso testimonio, honra a tu padre y a tu madre”. You know the commandments: You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not give false testimony. Honor your father and mother.”21Él repuso: “Yo he cumplido todo esto desde mi juventud”. And he said, “I have kept all these things from my youth.”22A lo cual Jesús replicó: “Una cosa te queda todavía: todo cuanto tienes véndelo y distribuye a pobres, y tendrás un tesoro en los cielos; y ven y sígueme”. And when Jesus heard this, he said to him: “One thing is still lacking for you. Sell all the things that you have, and give to the poor. And then you will have treasure in heaven. And come, follow me.”23Al oír estas palabras, se entristeció, porque era muy rico. When he heard this, he became very sorrowful. For he was very rich.24Mirándolo, entonces, Jesús dijo: “¡Cuán difícilmente, los que tienen los bienes entran en el reino de Dios! Then Jesus, seeing him brought to sorrow, said: “How difficult it is for those who have money to enter into the kingdom of God!25Es más fácil que un camello pase por el ojo de una aguja, que un rico entre en el reino de Dios”. For it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a wealthy man to enter into the kingdom of God.”26Y los oyentes dijeron: “Entonces, ¿quién podrá salvarse?” And those who were listening to this said, “Then who is able to be saved?”27Respondió: “Las cosas imposibles para hombres, posibles para Dios son”. He said to them, “Things that are impossible with men are possible with God.”28Entonces Pedro le dijo: “Tú ves, nosotros hemos dejado las cosas propias y te hemos seguido”. And Peter said, “Behold, we have left everything, and we have followed you.”29Respondioles: “En verdad, os digo, nadie dejará casa o mujer o hermanos o padres o hijos a causa del reino de Dios, And he said to them: “Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has left behind home, or parents, or brothers, or a wife, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,30que no reciba muchas veces otra tanto en este tiempo, y en el siglo venidero la vida eterna”. who will not receive much more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life.”31Tomando consigo a los Doce, les dijo: “He aquí que subimos a Jerusalén, y todo lo que ha sido escrito por los profetas se va a cumplir para el Hijo del hombre. Then Jesus took the twelve aside, and he said to them: “Behold, we are ascending to Jerusalem, and everything shall be completed which was written by the prophets about the Son of man.32Él será entregado a los gentiles, se burlarán de Él, lo ultrajarán, escupirán sobre Él, For he will be handed over to the Gentiles, and he will be mocked and scourged and spit upon.33y después de haberlo azotado, lo matarán, y al tercer día resucitará”. And after they have scourged him, they will kill him. But they understood none of these things. For this word was concealed from them, and they did not understand the things that were said.35Cuando iba aproximándose a Jericó, un ciego estaba sentado al borde del camino, y mendigaba. Now it happened that, as he was approaching Jericho, a certain blind man was sitting beside the way, begging.36Oyendo que pasaba mucha gente, preguntó qué era eso. And when he heard the multitude passing by, he asked what this was.37Le dijeron: “Jesús, el Nazareno pasa”. And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.38Y clamó diciendo: “Jesús, Hijo de David, apiádate de mí!” And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, take pity on me!”39Los que iban delante, lo reprendían para que se callase, pero él gritaba todavía mucho más: “¡Hijo de David, apiádate de mí!” And those who were passing by rebuked him, so that he would be silent. Yet truly, he cried out all the more, “Son of David, take pity on me!”40Jesús se detuvo y ordenó que se lo trajesen; y cuando él se hubo acercado, le preguntó: Then Jesus, standing still, ordered him to be brought to him. And when he had drawn near, he questioned him,41“¿Qué deseas que te haga?” Dijo: “¡Señor, que reciba yo la vista!” saying, “What do you want, that I might do for you?” So he said, “Lord, that I may see.”42Y Jesús le dijo: “Recíbela, tu fe te ha salvado”. And Jesus said to him: “Look around. Your faith has saved you.”43Y en seguida vio, y lo acompañó glorificando a Dios. Y todo el pueblo, al ver esto, alabó a Dios. And immediately he saw. And he followed him, magnifying God. And all the people, when they saw this, gave praise to God.
