Lucas 7
1Después que hubo acabado de decir al pueblo todas estas enseñanzas, volvió a entrar en Cafarnaúm. And when he had completed all his words in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.2Y sucedió que un centurión tenía un servidor enfermo a punto de morir, y que le era de mucha estima. Now the servant of a certain centurion was dying, due to an illness. And he was very dear to him.3Habiendo oído hablar de Jesús, envió a Él a algunos ancianos de los judíos, para rogarle que viniese a sanar a su servidor. And when he had heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to him, petitioning him, so that he would come and heal his servant.4Presentáronse ellos a Jesús, y le rogaron con insistencia, diciendo: “Merece que se lo concedas, And when they had come to Jesus, they petitioned him anxiously, saying to him: “He is worthy that you should provide this to him.5porque quiere bien a nuestra nación, y él fue quien nos edificó la sinagoga”. For he loves our nation, and he has built a synagogue for us.”6Y Jesús se fue con ellos. No estaba ya lejos de la casa, cuando el centurión envió unos amigos para decirle: “Señor, no te des esta molestia, porque yo no soy digno de que Tú entres bajo mi techo; Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying: “Lord, do not trouble yourself. For I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof.7por eso no me atreví a ir a Ti en persona: mas dilo con tu palabra, y sea sano mi criado. Because of this, I also did not consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant shall be healed.8Pues también yo, que soy un subordinado, tengo soldados a mis órdenes, y digo a este: “Anda”, y va; y al otro: “Ven”, y viene; y a mi siervo: “Haz esto”, y lo hace”. For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”9Jesús al oírlo se admiró de él; y volviéndose, dijo a la gente que le seguía: “Os digo que en Israel no hallé fe tan grande”. And upon hearing this, Jesus was amazed. And turning to the multitude following him, he said, “Amen I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.”10Y los enviados, de vuelta a la casa, hallaron sano al servidor. And those who had been sent, upon returning to the house, found that the servant, who had been sick, was now healthy.11Después se encaminó a una ciudad llamada Naím; iban con Él sus discípulos y una gran muchedumbre de pueblo. And it happened afterwards that he went to a city, which is called Nain. And his disciples, and an abundant crowd, went with him.12Al llegar a la puerta de la ciudad, he ahí que era llevado fuera un difunto, hijo único de su madre, la cual era viuda, y venía con ella mucha gente de la ciudad. Then, when he had drawn near to the gate of the city, behold, a deceased person was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her.13Al verla, el Señor movido de misericordia hacia ella, le dijo: “No llores”. And when the Lord had seen her, being moved by mercy over her, he said to her, “Do not weep.”14Y se acercó y tocó el féretro, y los que lo llevaban se detuvieron. Entonces dijo: “Muchacho, Yo te digo: ¡Levántate!” And he drew near and touched the coffin. Then those who carried it stood still. And he said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.”15Y el (que había estado) muerto se incorporó y se puso a hablar. Y lo devolvió a la madre. And the dead youth sat up and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.16Por lo cual todos quedaron poseídos de temor, y glorificaron a Dios, diciendo: “Un gran profeta se ha levantado entre nosotros”, y: “Dios ha visitado a su pueblo”. Then fear fell over all of them. And they magnified God, saying: “For a great prophet has risen up among us,” and, “For God has visited his people.”17Esta fama referente a su persona se difundió por toda la Judea y por toda la comarca circunvecina. And this word about him went out to all of Judea and to the entire surrounding region.18Los discípulos de Juan le informaron de todas estas cosas. Entonces, Juan llamando a dos de sus discípulos, And the disciples of John reported to him concerning all these things.19enviolos a decir al Señor: “¿Eres Tú el que ha de venir, o debemos esperar a otro?” And John called two of his disciples, and he sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are you he who is to come, or should we wait for another?”20Y llegados a Él estos hombres, le dijeron: “Juan el Bautista nos envió a preguntarte: ‘¿Eres Tú el que ha de venir, o debemos esperar a otro?’” But when the men had come to him, they said: “John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying: ‘Are you he who is to come, or should we wait for another?’ ”21En aquella hora sanó Jesús a muchos, de enfermedades y plagas y de malos espíritus, y concedió la vista a muchos ciegos. Now in that same hour, he cured many of their diseases and wounds and evil spirits; and to many of the blind, he gave sight.22Les respondió, entonces, y dijo: “Volved y anunciad a Juan lo que acabáis de ver y oír: ciegos ven, cojos andan, leprosos son limpiados, sordos oyen, muertos resucitan, a pobres se les anuncia la Buena Nueva. And responding, he said to them: “Go and report to John what you have heard and seen: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead rise again, the poor are evangelized.23Y ¡bienaventurado el que no se escandalizare de Mí!”. And blessed is anyone who has not taken offense at me.”24Cuando los enviados de Juan hubieron partido, se puso Él a decir a la multitud acerca de Juan: “¿Qué salisteis a ver en el desierto? ¿Acaso una caña sacudida por el viento? And when the messengers of John had withdrawn, he began to speak about John to the crowds. “What did you go out to the desert to see? A reed shaken by the wind?25Y si no ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿A un hombre lujosamente vestido? Los que llevan vestidos lujosos y viven en delicias están en los palacios. Then what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Behold, those who are in costly apparel and finery are in the houses of kings.26Entonces, ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿A un profeta? Sí, os digo, y más que profeta. Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Certainly, I tell you, and more than a prophet.27Este es aquel de quien está escrito: «Mira que Yo envío mi mensajero ante tu faz que irá delante de Ti para barrete el camino». This is he of whom it is written: “Behold, I send my Angel before your face, who shall prepare your way before you.”28Os digo, no hay, entre los hijos de mujer, más grande que Juan; pero el más pequeño en el reino de Dios es más grande que él; For I say to you, among those born of women, no one is greater than the prophet John the Baptist. But he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”29porque todo el pueblo que lo escuchó (a Juan), y aun los publicanos reconocieron la justicia de Dios, recibiendo el bautismo de Él. And upon hearing this, all the people and the tax collectors justified God, by being baptized with the baptism of John.30Pero los fariseos y los doctores de la Ley frustraron los designios de Dios para con ellos, al no dejarse bautizar por Juan”. But the Pharisees and the experts in the law despised the counsel of God concerning themselves, by not being baptized by him.31“¿Con quién podré comparar a hombres de este género? Then the Lord said: “Therefore, to what shall I compare the men of this generation? And to what are they similar?32Son semejantes a esos muchachos que, sentados en la plaza, cantan unos a otros aquello de: ‘Os tocamos la flauta, y no danzasteis; entonamos lamentaciones, y no llorasteis’. They are like children sitting in the marketplace, talking with one another, and saying: ‘We sang to you, and you did not dance. We lamented, and you did not weep.’33Porque vino Juan el Bautista, que no come pan ni bebe vino, y vosotros decís: ‘Está endemoniado’; For John the Baptist came, neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’34ha venido el Hijo del hombre, que come y bebe, y decís: ‘Es un hombre glotón y borracho, amigo de publicanos y pecadores’. The Son of man came, eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Behold, a voracious man and a drinker of wine, a friend of tax collectors and of sinners.’35Mas la sabiduría ha quedado justificada por todos sus hijos”. But wisdom is justified by all her children.”36Uno de los fariseos le rogó que fuese a comer con él, y habiendo entrado (Jesús) en la casa del fariseo, se puso a la mesa. Then certain Pharisees petitioned him, so that they might eat with him. And he went into the house of the Pharisee, and he reclined at table.37Entonces una mujer de la ciudad, que era pecadora, al saber que Jesús se encontraba reclinado a la mesa en casa del fariseo, tomó consigo un vaso de alabastro, con ungüento; And behold, a woman who was in the city, a sinner, found out that he was reclining at table in the house of the Pharisee, so she brought an alabaster container of ointment.38y, colocándose detrás de Él, a sus pies, y llorando con sus lágrimas bañaba sus pies y los enjugaba con su cabellera; los llenaba de besos y los ungía con el ungüento. And standing behind him, beside his feet, she began to wash his feet with tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, and she kissed his feet, and she anointed them with ointment.39Viendo lo cual el fariseo que lo había convidado dijo para sus adentros: “Si Este fuera profeta, ya sabría quién y de qué clase es la mujer que lo está tocando, que es una pecadora”. Then the Pharisee, who had invited him, upon seeing this, spoke within himself, saying, “This man, if he were a prophet, would certainly know who and what kind of woman is this, who is touching him: that she is a sinner.”40Entonces Jesús respondiendo (a sus pensamientos) le dijo: “Simón, tengo algo que decirte”. Y él: “Dilo, Maestro”. And in response, Jesus said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” So he said, “Speak, Teacher.”41Y dijo: “Un acreedor tenía dos deudores: el uno le debía quinientos denarios, el otro cincuenta. “A certain creditor had two debtors: one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.42Como no tuviesen con qué pagar, les perdonó a los dos. ¿Cuál de ellos lo amará más?” And since they did not have the ability to repay him, he forgave them both. So then, which of them loves him more?”43Simón respondió diciendo: “Supongo que aquel a quien más ha perdonado”. Él le dijo: “Bien juzgaste”. In response, Simon said, “I suppose that it is he to whom he forgave the most.” And he said to him, “You have judged correctly.”44Y volviéndose hacia la mujer, dijo a Simón: “¿Ves a esta mujer? Vine a tu casa, y tú no vertiste agua sobre mis pies; mas esta ha regado mis pies con sus lágrimas y los ha enjugado con sus cabellos. And turning to the woman, he said to Simon: “Do you see this woman? I entered into your house. You gave me no water for my feet. But she has washed my feet with tears, and has wiped them with her hair.45Tú no me diste el ósculo; mas ella, desde que entró, no ha cesado de besar mis pies. You gave no kiss to me. But she, from the time that she entered, has not ceased to kiss my feet.46Tú no ungiste con óleo mi cabeza; ella ha ungido mis pies con ungüento. You did not anoint my head with oil. But she has anointed my feet with ointment.47Por lo cual, te digo, se le han perdonado sus pecados, los muchos, puesto que ha amado mucho. A la inversa, aquel a quien se perdone poco, ama poco”. Because of this, I tell you: many sins are forgiven her, because she has loved much. But he who is forgiven less, loves less.”48Después dijo a ella: “Tus pecados se te han perdonado”. Then he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven you.”49Entonces, los que estaban con Él a la mesa se pusieron a decir entre sí: “¿Quién es Este, que también perdona pecados?” And those who sat at table with him began to say within themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?”50Y dijo a la mujer: “Tu fe te ha salvado: ve hacia la paz”. Then he said to the woman: “Your faith has brought you salvation. Go in peace.”
