Malaquías 3
1He aquí que envío a mi ángel que preparará el camino delante de Mí; y de repente vendrá a su Templo el Señor a quien buscáis, y el ángel de la Alianza a quien deseáis. He aquí que viene, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos. Behold, I send my angel, and he will prepare the way before my face. And presently the Sovereign, whom you seek, and the angel of testimony, whom you desire, will arrive at his temple. Behold, he approaches, says the Lord of hosts.2¿Quién podrá soportar el día de su venida? ¿Quién es el que podrá mantenerse en pie en su epifanía? Pues será como fuego de acrisolador, y como lejía de batanero. And who will be able to consider the day of his advent, and who will stand firm in order to see him? For he is like a refining fire, and like the fuller’s herb.3Se sentará para acrisolar y limpiar la plata; purificará a los hijos de Leví, y los limpiará como el oro y la plata, para que ofrezcan a Yahvé sacrificios en justicia. And he will sit refining and cleansing the silver, and he will purge the sons of Levi, and he will gather them like gold and like silver, and they will offer sacrifices to the Lord in justice.4Y será grata a Yahvé la oblación de Judá y de Jerusalén, como en los días primeros y como en los tiempos antiguos. And the sacrifice of Judah and of Jerusalem will please the Lord, just as in the days of past generations, and as in the ancient years.5Entonces llegaré a vosotros para juzgar; y seré pronto testigo contra los hechiceros, contra los adúlteros y los perjuros; contra los que oprimen al jornalero, a la viuda y al huérfano, contra los que tuercen (el derecho del) extranjero; y no me temen a Mí, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos. And I will approach you in judgment, and I will be a swift witness against evil-doers, and adulterers, and perjurers, and those who cheat the hired hand in his wages, the widows and the orphans, and who oppress the traveler, and who have not feared me, says the Lord of hosts.6Porque Yo, Yahvé, soy inmutable, por eso vosotros, oh hijos de Jacob, no habéis sido consumidos. For I am the Lord, and I do not change. And you, the sons of Jacob, have not been consumed.7Desde los días de vuestros padres, os habéis apartado de mis mandamientos y no los habéis guardado. Convertíos a Mí, y Yo me volveré a vosotros, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos. Mas vosotros decís: «¿En qué hemos de convertirnos?» For, from the days of your fathers, you have withdrawn from my ordinances and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. And you have said, “In what way, shall we return?”8¿Puede acaso el hombre engañar a Dios? Pues vosotros me estáis engañando y decís: «¿En qué te hemos engañado?» En los diezmos y las primicias. If a man will afflict God, then you greatly afflict me. And you have said, “In what way, do we afflict you?” In tithes and in first-fruits.9Caiga sobre vosotros la maldición, porque me habéis engañado, la nación entera. And you have been cursed with privation, and you greatly afflict me, even your entire people.10Traed todo el diezmo a la cámara de tesoros, para que haya alimento en mi Casa; y probadme, os ruego, en esto, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos; a ver si no os abro las cataratas del cielo, y derramo sobre vosotros una bendición superabundante. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, and let there be food in my house. And test me about this, says the Lord, as to whether I will not open to you the floodgates of heaven, and pour out to you a blessing, all the way to abundance.11Por vosotros increparé a la (langosta) devoradora, y no os destruirá los frutos de la tierra; y las viñas del campo no os serán estériles, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos. And I will rebuke for your sakes the devourer, and he will not corrupt the fruit of your land. Neither will the vine in the field be barren, says the Lord of hosts.12Y todas las naciones os llamarán bienaventurados; pues seréis una tierra de delicias, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos. And all nations will call you blessed. For you will be a desirable land, says the Lord of hosts.13Vuestras palabras contra Mí son insolentes, dice Yahvé. Y todavía decís: «¿Qué hemos hablado contra Ti?» Your words have gathered strength over me, says the Lord.14Habéis dicho: «Cosa inútil es servir a Dios, ¿y qué provecho tenemos si observamos sus mandamientos, y andamos tristes delante de Yahvé de los ejércitos? And you have said, “What have we spoken against you?” You have said, “He labors in vain who serves God,” and, “What advantage is it that we have kept his precepts, and that we have walked sorrowfully in the sight of the Lord of hosts?”15Llamamos dichosos a los soberbios, pues los impíos tienen suerte; aunque provocan a Dios quedan salvos». Now, therefore, we call the arrogant blessed, as if those who work impiety have been built up, and as if they have tempted God and been saved.16Entonces los que temían a Yahvé hablaron unos con otros, y Yahvé estuvo atento y escuchó; y fue escrito delante de Él un libro de memoria en favor de los que temen a Yahvé, y respetan su Nombre. Then those who fear the Lord spoke, each one with his neighbor. And the Lord paid attention and heeded. And a book of remembrance was written in his sight, for those who fear the Lord and for those who consider his name.17Ellos serán, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, mi propiedad en aquel día que Yo preparo; y de ellos me apiadaré, como un hombre se apiada del hijo que le sirve. And they will be my special possession, says the Lord of hosts, on the day that I act. And I will spare them, just as a man spares his son who serves him.18Entonces veréis una vez más (la diferencia) entre el justo y el impío, entre aquel que sirve a Dios, y aquel que no le sirve. And you shall be converted, and you will see the difference between the just and the impious, and between those who serve God and those who do not serve him.
