1Acercáronse los fariseos y saduceos y, para ponerlo a prueba le pidieron que les hiciese ver alguna señal del cielo. And Pharisees and Sadducees approached him to test him, and they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.2Mas Él les respondió y dijo: “Cuando ha llegado la tarde, decís: Buen tiempo, porque el cielo está rojo”, But he responded by saying to them: “When evening arrives, you say, ‘It will be calm, for the sky is red,’3y a la mañana: “Hoy habrá tormenta, porque el cielo tiene un rojo sombrío”. Sabéis discernir el aspecto del cielo, pero no las señales de los tiempos. and in the morning, ‘Today there will be a storm, for the sky is red and gloomy.’ So then, you know how to judge the appearance of the sky, but you are unable to know the signs of the times?4Una generación mala y adúltera requiere una señal: no le será dada otra que la del profeta Jonás”. Y dejándolos, se fue. An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign. And a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And leaving them behind, he went away.5Los discípulos, al ir a la otra orilla, habían olvidado de llevar panes. And when his disciples went across the sea, they forgot to bring bread.6Y Jesús les dijo: “Mirad y guardaos de la levadura de los fariseos y de los saduceos”. And he said to them, “Consider and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”7Ellos dentro de sí discurrían diciendo: “Es que no hemos traído panes”. But they were thinking within themselves, saying, “It is because we have not brought bread.”8Mas Jesús lo conoció y dijo: “Hombres de poca fe; ¿qué andáis discurriendo dentro de vosotros mismos que no tenéis panes? Then Jesus, knowing this, said: “Why do you consider within yourselves, O little in faith, that it is because you have no bread?9¿No entendéis todavía, ni recordáis los cinco panes de los cinco mil, y cuántos canastos recogisteis? Do you not yet understand, nor remember, the five loaves among the five thousand men, and how many containers you took up?10¿Ni los siete panes de los cuatro mil, y cuántos canastos recogisteis? Or the seven loaves among the four thousand men, and how many baskets you took up?11¿Cómo no entendéis que no de los panes os quería hablar al deciros: “Guardaos de la levadura de los fariseos y de los saduceos?” Why do you not understand that it was not because of bread that I said to you: Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees?”12Entonces, comprendieron que no había querido decir que se guardasen de la levadura de los panes, sino de la doctrina de los fariseos y saduceos. Then they understood that he was not saying that they should beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.13Y llegado Jesús a la región de Cesarea de Filipo, propuso esta cuestión a sus discípulos: “¿Quién dicen los hombres que es el Hijo del hombre?” Then Jesus went into parts of Caesarea Philippi. And he questioned his disciples, saying, “Who do men say that the Son of man is?”14Respondieron: “Unos dicen que es Juan el Bautista, otros Elías, otros Jeremías o algún otro de los profetas”. And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, and others say Elijah, still others say Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”15Díjoles: “Y según vosotros, ¿quién soy Yo?” Jesus said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”16Respondiole Simón Pedro y dijo: “Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo del Dios vivo”. Simon Peter responded by saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”17Entonces Jesús le dijo: “Bienaventurado eres, Simón Bar-Yoná, porque carne y sangre no te lo reveló, sino mi Padre celestial. And in response, Jesus said to him: “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father, who is in heaven.18Y Yo, te digo que tú eres Pedro, y sobre esta piedra edificaré mi Iglesia, y las puertas del abismo no prevalecerán contra ella. And I say to you, that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.19A ti te daré las llaves del reino de los cielos: lo que atares sobre la tierra, estará atado en los cielos, lo que desatares sobre la tierra, estará desatado en los cielos”. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound, even in heaven. And whatever you shall release on earth shall be released, even in heaven.”20Entonces mandó a sus discípulos que no dijesen a nadie que Él era el Cristo. Then he instructed his disciples that they should tell no one that he is Jesus the Christ.21Desde entonces comenzó Jesús a declarar a sus discípulos que Él debía ir a Jerusalén y sufrir mucho de parte de los ancianos, de los sumos sacerdotes y de los escribas, y ser condenado a muerte y, resucitar al tercer día. From that time, Jesus began to reveal to his disciples that it was necessary for him to go to Jerusalem, and to suffer much from the elders and the scribes and the leaders of the priests, and to be killed, and to rise again on the third day.22Mas Pedro, tomándolo aparte, se puso a reconvenirle, diciendo: “¡Lejos de Ti, Señor! Esto no te sucederá por cierto”. And Peter, taking him aside, began to rebuke him, saying, “Lord, may it be far from you; this shall not happen to you.”23Pero Él volviéndose, dijo a Pedro: “¡Quítateme de delante, Satanás! ¡Un tropiezo eres para Mí, porque no sientes las cosas de Dios, sino las de los hombres!”. And turning away, Jesus said to Peter: “Get behind me, Satan; you are an obstacle to me. For you are not behaving according to what is of God, but according to what is of men.”24Entonces, dijo a sus discípulos: “Si alguno quiere seguirme, renúnciese a sí mismo, y lleve su cruz y siga tras de Mí. Then Jesus said to his disciples: “If anyone is willing to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.25Porque el que quisiere salvar su alma, la perderá; y quien pierda su alma por mi causa, la hallará. For whoever would save his life, will lose it. But whoever will have lost his life for my sake, shall find it.26Porque ¿de qué sirve al hombre, si gana el mundo entero, mas pierde su alma? ¿O qué podrá dar el hombre a cambio de su alma? For how does it benefit a man, if he gains the whole world, yet truly suffers damage to his soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?27Porque el Hijo del hombre ha de venir, en la gloria de su Padre, con sus ángeles, y entonces dará a cada uno según sus obras. For the Son of man will arrive in the glory of his Father, with his Angels. And then he will repay each one according to his works.28En verdad, os digo, algunos de los que están aquí no gustarán la muerte sin que hayan visto al Hijo del hombre viniendo en su Reino”. Amen I say to you, there are some among those standing here, who shall not taste death, until they see the Son of man arriving in his reign.”
