Mateo 17
And he was transfigured before them. And his face shined brightly like the sun. And his garments were made white like snow.3Y he ahí que se les aparecieron Moisés y Elías, que hablaban con Él. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, speaking with him.4Entonces, Pedro habló y dijo a Jesús: “Señor, bueno es que nos quedemos aquí. Si quieres, levantaré aquí tres tiendas, una para Ti, una para Moisés, y otra para Elías”. And Peter responded by saying to Jesus: “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you are willing, let us make three tabernacles here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”5No había terminado de hablar cuando una nube luminosa vino a cubrirlos, y una voz se hizo oír desde la nube que dijo: “Este es mi Hijo, el Amado, en quien me complazco; escuchadlo a Él”. And while he was still speaking, behold, a shining cloud overshadowed them. And behold, there was a voice from the cloud, saying: “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.”6Y los discípulos, al oírla, se prosternaron, rostro en tierra, poseídos de temor grande. And the disciples, hearing this, fell prone on their face, and they were very afraid.7Mas Jesús se aproximó a ellos, los tocó y les dijo: “Levantaos; no tengáis miedo”. And Jesus drew near and touched them. And he said to them, “Rise up and do not be afraid.”8Y ellos, alzando los ojos, no vieron a nadie más que a Jesús solo. And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus alone.9Y cuando bajaban de la montaña, les mandó Jesús diciendo: “No habléis a nadie de esta visión, hasta que el Hijo del hombre haya resucitado de entre los muertos”. And as they were descending from the mountain, Jesus instructed them, saying, “Tell no one about the vision, until the Son of man has risen from the dead.”10Los discípulos le hicieron esta pregunta: “¿Por qué, pues, los escribas dicen que Elías debe venir primero?” And his disciples questioned him, saying, “Why then do the scribes say that it is necessary for Elijah to arrive first?”11Él les respondió y dijo: “Ciertamente, Elías vendrá y restaurará todo. But in response, he said to them: “Elijah, indeed, shall arrive and restore all things.12Os declaro, empero, que Elías ya vino, pero no lo conocieron, sino que hicieron con él cuento quisieron. Y así el mismo Hijo del hombre tendrá que padecer de parte de ellos”. But I say to you, that Elijah has already arrived, and they did not recognize him, but they did whatever they wanted to him. So also shall the Son of man suffer from them.”13Entonces los discípulos cayeron en la cuenta que les hablaba con relación a Juan el Bautista. Then the disciples understood that he had spoken to them about John the Baptist.14Cuando llegaron adonde estaba la gente, un hombre se aproximó a Él, y, doblando la rodilla, le dijo: And when he had arrived at the multitude, a man approached him, falling to his knees before him, saying: “Lord, take pity on my son, for he is an epileptic, and he suffers harm. For he frequently falls into fire, and often also into water.15“Señor, ten piedad de mi hijo, porque es lunático y está muy mal; pues muchas veces cae en el fuego y muchas en el agua. And I brought him to your disciples, but they were not able to cure him.”16Lo traje a tus discípulos, y ellos no han podido sanarlo”. Then Jesus responded by saying: “What an unbelieving and perverse generation! How long shall I be with you? How long shall I endure you? Bring him here to me.”17Respondiole Jesús y dijo: “Oh raza incrédula y perversa, ¿hasta cuándo he de estar con vosotros? ¿Hasta cuándo os habré de soportar? Traédmelo aquí”. And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out of him, and the boy was cured from that hour.18Increpole Jesús, y el demonio salió de él, y el niño quedó sano desde aquella hora. Then the disciples approached Jesus privately and said, “Why were we unable to cast him out?”19Entonces los discípulos se llegaron a Jesús, aparte, y le dijeron: “¿Por qué nosotros no hemos podido lanzarlo?” Jesus said to them: “Because of your unbelief. Amen I say to you, certainly, if you will have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it shall move. And nothing will be impossible for you.20Les dijo: “Por vuestra falta de fe. Porque en verdad os digo: Que si tuviereis fe como un grano de mostaza, diríais a esta montaña: “Pásate de aquí, allá”, y se pasaría, y no habría para vosotros cosa imposible”. But this kind is not cast out, except through prayer and fasting.”21[En cuanto a esta ralea, no se va sino con oración y ayuno]. And when they were conversing together in Galilee, Jesus said to them: “The Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.22Y yendo juntos por Galilea, Jesús les dijo: “El Hijo del hombre va a ser entregado en manos de los hombres; And they will kill him, but he will rise again on the third day.” And they were extremely saddened.23y lo harán morir, y al tercer día resucitará”. Y se entristecieron en gran manera. And when they had arrived at Capernaum, those who collected the half shekel approached Peter, and they said to him, “Doesn’t your Teacher pay the half shekel?”24Cuando llegaron a Cafarnaúm acercáronse a Pedro los que cobraban las didracmas y dijeron: “¿No paga vuestro Maestro las dos dracmas?” He said, “Yes.” And when he had entered into the house, Jesus went before him, saying: “How does it seem to you, Simon? The kings of the earth, from whom do they receive tribute or the census tax: from their own sons or from foreigners?”25Respondió: “Sí”. And he said, “From foreigners.” Jesus said to him: “Then the sons are free.26Respondió: “De los extraños”. Entonces Jesús le dijo: “Así, pues, libres son los hijos. Sin embargo, para que no los escandalicemos, ve al mar a echar el anzuelo, y el primer pez que suba, sácalo, y abriéndole la boca encontrarás un estatero. Tómalo y dáselo por Mí y por ti”. But so that we may not become an obstacle to them: go to the sea, and cast in a hook, and take the first fish that is brought up, and when you have opened its mouth, you will find a shekel. Take it and give it to them, for me and for you.”
