1“Porque el reino de los cielos es semejante a un padre de familia, que salió muy de mañana a contratar obreros para su viña. “The kingdom of heaven is like the father of a family who went out in early morning to lead workers into his vineyard.2Habiendo convenido con los obreros en un denario por día, los envió a su viña. Then, having made an agreement with the workers for one denarius per day, he sent them into his vineyard.3Salió luego hacia la hora tercera, vio a otros que estaban de pie, en la plaza, sin hacer nada. And going out about the third hour, he saw others standing idle in the marketplace.4Y les dijo: “Id vosotros también a mi viña, y os daré lo que sea justo”. And when evening had arrived, the lord of the vineyard said to his manager, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning from the last, even to the first.’9Vinieron, pues, los de la hora undécima, y recibieron cada uno un denario. And so, when those who had arrived about the eleventh hour came forward, each received a single denarius.10Cuando llegaron los primeros, pensaron que recibirían más, pero ellos también recibieron cada uno un denario. Then when the first ones also came forward, they considered that they would receive more. But they, too, received one denarius.11Y al tomarlo, murmuraban contra el dueño de casa, And upon receiving it, they murmured against the father of the family,12y decían: “Estos últimos no han trabajado más que una hora, y los tratas como a nosotros, que hemos soportado el peso del día y el calor”. saying, ‘These last have worked for one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who worked bearing the weight and heat of the day.’13Pero él respondió a uno de ellos: “Amigo, yo no te hago injuria. ¿No conviniste conmigo en un denario? Or is your eye wicked because I am good?’16Así los últimos serán primeros, y los primeros, últimos”. So then, the last shall be first, and the first shall be last. For many are called, but few are chosen.”17Y subiendo Jesús a Jerusalén, tomó aparte a los doce discípulos, y les dijo en el camino: And Jesus, ascending to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside in private and said to them:18“He aquí que subimos a Jerusalén, y el Hijo del hombre va a ser entregado a los sumos sacerdotes y escribas, y lo condenarán a muerte. “Behold, we are ascending to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be handed over to the leaders of the priests and to the scribes. And they shall condemn him to death.19Y lo entregarán a los gentiles, para que lo escarnezcan, lo azoten y lo crucifiquen, pero al tercer día resucitará”. And they shall hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified. He said to them: “From my chalice, indeed, you shall drink. But to sit at my right or my left is not mine to give to you, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”24Cuando los diez oyeron esto, se enfadaron contra los dos hermanos. And the ten, upon hearing this, became indignant with the two brothers.25Mas Jesús los llamó y dijo: “Los jefes de los pueblos, como sabéis, les hacen sentir su dominación, y los grandes sus poder. But Jesus called them to himself and said: “You know that the first ones among the Gentiles are their rulers, and that those who are greater exercise power among them.26No será así entre vosotros, sino al contrario: entre vosotros el que quiera ser grande se hará el servidor vuestro, It shall not be this way among you. But whoever will want to be greater among you, let him be your minister.27y el que quiera ser el primero de vosotros ha de hacerse vuestro esclavo; And whoever will want to be first among you, he shall be your servant,28así como el Hijo del hombre vino, no para ser servido, sino para servir y dar su vida en rescate por muchos”. even as the Son of man has not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a redemption for many.”29Cuando salieron de Jericó, le siguió una gran muchedumbre. And behold, two blind men, sitting by the way, heard that Jesus was passing by; and they cried out, saying, “Lord, Son of David, take pity on us.”31La gente les reprendía para que callasen, pero ellos gritaban más, diciendo: “Señor, ten piedad de nosotros, Hijo de David”. But the crowd rebuked them to be quiet. But they cried out all the more, saying, “Lord, Son of David, take pity on us.”32Entonces Jesús, parándose los llamó y dijo: “¿Qué queréis que os haga?” And Jesus stood still, and he called them and said, “What do you want, that I might do for you?”33Le dijeron: “¡Señor, que se abran nuestros ojos!”. They said to him, “Lord, that our eyes be opened.”34Y Jesús, teniendo compasión de ellos, les tocó los ojos, y al punto recobraron la vista, y le siguieron. Then Jesus, taking pity on them, touched their eyes. And immediately they saw, and they followed him.
