1Cuando estuvieron próximos a Jerusalén, cerca de Betfagé y Betania, junto al Monte de los Olivos, envió a dos de sus discípulos, And as they were approaching Jerusalem and Bethania, toward the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,2diciéndoles: “Id a la aldea que está enfrente de vosotros; y luego de entrar en ella, encontraréis un burrito atado, sobre el cual nadie ha montado todavía. Desatadlo y traedlo. and he said to them: “Go into the village that is opposite you, and immediately upon entering there, you will find a colt tied, on which no man has yet sat. Release him and bring him.3Y si alguien os pregunta: “¿Por qué hacéis esto?”, contestad: “El Señor lo necesita, y al instante lo devolverá aquí”. And if anyone will say to you: ‘What are you doing?’ Say that the Lord has need of him. And he will immediately send him here.”4Partieron, pues, y encontraron un burrito atado a una puerta, por de fuera, en la calle, y lo desataron. And going out, they found the colt tied before the outer gate, at the meeting of two ways. And they untied him.5Algunas personas que se encontraban allí, les dijeron: “¿Qué hacéis, desatando el burrito?” And some of those who were standing there said to them, “What are you doing by releasing the colt?”6Ellos les respondieron como Jesús les había dicho, y los dejaron hacer. And they spoke to them just as Jesus had instructed them. And they permitted them.7Llevaron, pues, el burrito a Jesús y pusieron encima sus mantos, y Él lo montó. And they led the colt to Jesus. And they placed their garments on it; and he sat upon it.8Y muchos extendieron sus mantos sobre el camino; otros, brazadas de follaje que habían cortado de los campos. Then many spread their garments along the way; but others cut down leafy branches from trees and scattered them on the way.9Y los que marchaban delante y los que seguían, clamaban: “¡Hosanna! ¡Bendito sea el que viene en el nombre del Señor! And those who went ahead, and those who followed, cried out saying: “Hosanna! Blessed is he who has arrived in the name of the Lord.10¡Bendito sea el advenimiento del reino de nuestro padre David! ¡Hosanna en las alturas!” Blessed is the advent of the kingdom of our father David. Hosanna in the highest!”11Y entró en Jerusalén en el Templo, y después de mirarlo todo, siendo ya tarde, partió de nuevo para Betania con los Doce. And he entered into Jerusalem, into the temple. And having looked around at everything, since it was now the evening hour, he went out to Bethania with the twelve.12Al día siguiente, cuando salieron de Betania, tuvo hambre. And the next day, as they were departing from Bethania, he was hungry.13Y divisando, a la distancia, una higuera que tenía hojas, fue para ver si encontraba algo en ella; pero llegado allí, no encontró más que hojas, porque no era el tiempo de los higos. And when he had seen a fig tree with leaves in the distance, he went to it, in case he might find something on it. And when he had gone to it, he found nothing but leaves. For it was not the season for figs.14Entonces, respondió y dijo a la higuera: “¡Que jamás ya nadie coma fruto de ti!” Y sus discípulos lo oyeron. And in response, he said to it, “From now on and forever, may no one eat fruit from you again!” And his disciples heard this.15Llegado a Jerusalén, entró en el Templo, y se puso a expulsar a los que vendían y a los que compraban en el Templo, y volcó las mesas de los cambistas y las sillas de los que vendían las palomas; And they went to Jerusalem. And when he had entered into the temple, he began to cast out the sellers and the buyers in the temple. And he overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the chairs of the vendors of doves.16y no permitía que nadie atravesase el Templo transportando objetos. And he would not permit anyone to carry goods through the temple.17Y les enseñó diciendo: “¿No está escrito: «Mi casa será llamada casa de oración para todas las naciones»? Pero vosotros, la habéis hecho cueva de ladrones”. And he taught them, saying: “Is it not written: ‘For my house shall be called the house of prayer for all nations?’ But you have made it into a den of robbers.”18Los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas lo oyeron y buscaban cómo hacerlo perecer; pero le tenían miedo, porque todo el pueblo estaba poseído de admiración por su doctrina. And when the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, had heard this, they sought a means by which they might destroy him. For they feared him, because the entire multitude was in admiration over his doctrine.19Y llegada la tarde, salieron (Jesús y sus discípulos) de la ciudad. And when evening had arrived, he departed from the city.20Al pasar (al día siguiente) muy de mañana, vieron la higuera que se había secado de raíz. And when they passed by in the morning, they saw that the fig tree had dried up from the roots.21Entonces, Pedro se acordó y dijo: “¡Rabí, mira! La higuera que maldijiste se ha secado”. And Peter, remembering, said to him, “Master, behold, the fig tree that you cursed has withered.”22Y Jesús les respondió y dijo: “¡Tened fe en Dios! And in response, Jesus said to them: “Have the faith of God.23En verdad, os digo, quien dijere a este monte: “Quítate de ahí y échate al mar”, sin titubear interiormente, sino creyendo que lo que dice se hará, lo obtendrá. Amen I say to you, that whoever will say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and who will not have hesitated in his heart, but will have believed: then whatever he has said be done, it shall be done for him.24Por eso, os digo, todo lo que pidiereis orando, creed que lo obtuvisteis ya, y se os dará. For this reason, I say to you, all things whatsoever that you ask for when praying: believe that you will receive them, and they will happen for you.25Y cuando os ponéis de pie para orar, perdonad lo que podáis tener contra alguien, a fin de que también vuestro Padre celestial os perdone vuestros pecados. And when you stand to pray, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your sins.26[Si no perdonáis, vuestro Padre que está en los cielos no os perdonará tampoco vuestros pecados]”. But if you will not forgive, neither will your Father, who is in heaven, forgive you your sins.”27Fueron de nuevo a Jerusalén. Y como Él se pasease por el Templo, se le llegaron los jefes de los sacerdotes, los escribas y los ancianos, And they went again to Jerusalem. And when he was walking in the temple, the leaders of the priests, and the scribes, and the elders approached him.28y le dijeron: “¿Con qué poder haces estas cosas, y quién te ha dado ese poder para hacerlas?” And they said to him: “By what authority do you do these things? And who has given you this authority, so that you would do these things?”29Jesús les contestó: “Os haré Yo también una pregunta. Respondedme, y os diré con qué derecho obro así: But in response, Jesus said to them: “I also will ask you one word, and if you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I do these things.30El bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo o de los hombres? Respondedme”. The baptism of John: was it from heaven or from men? Answer me.”31Mas ellos discurrieron así en sí mismos: “Si decimos «del cielo», dirá: «entonces ¿por qué no le creísteis?»” But they discussed it among themselves, saying: “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’32Y ¿si decimos: “de los hombres”? pero temían al pueblo, porque todos tenían a Juan por un verdadero profeta. If we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the people. For they all hold that John was a true prophet.”33Respondieron, pues, a Jesús. “No sabemos”. Entonces, Jesús les dijo: “Y bien, ni Yo tampoco os digo con qué poder hago esto”. And answering, they said to Jesus, “We do not know.” And in response, Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”
