1Entró de nuevo en Cafarnaúm al cabo de cierto tiempo, y oyeron las gentes que estaba en casa. And after some days, he again entered into Capernaum.2Y se juntaron allí tantos que ya no cabían ni delante de la puerta; y les predicaba la palabra. And it was heard that he was in the house. And so many gathered that there was no room left, not even at the door. And he spoke the word to them.3Le trajeron, entonces, un paralítico, llevado por cuatro. And they came to him, bringing a paralytic, who was being carried by four men.4Y como no podían llegar hasta Él, a causa de la muchedumbre, levantaron el techo encima del lugar donde Él estaba, y haciendo una abertura descolgaron la camilla en que yacía el paralítico. And when they were not able to present him to him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where he was. And opening it, they lowered down the stretcher on which the paralytic was lying.5Al ver la fe de ellos, dilo Jesús al paralítico: “Hijo mío, tus pecados te son perdonados”. Then, when Jesus had seen their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”6Mas estaban allí sentados algunos escribas, que pensaron en sus corazones: But some of the scribes were sitting in that place and thinking in their hearts:7“¿Cómo habla Este así? Blasfema. ¿Quién puede perdonar los pecados sino solo Dios?” “Why is this man speaking in this way? He is blaspheming. Who can forgive sins, but God alone?”8Al punto Jesús, conociendo en su espíritu que ellos tenían estos pensamientos dentro de sí, les dijo: “¿Por qué discurrís así en vuestros corazones? At once, Jesus, realizing in his spirit that they were thinking this within themselves, said to them: “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?9¿Qué es más fácil, decir al paralítico: “Tus pecados te son perdonados”, o decirle: “Levántate, toma tu camilla y anda?” Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up, take up your stretcher, and walk?’10¡Pues bien! para que sepáis que el Hijo del hombre tiene el poder de remitir los pecados, sobre la tierra, But so that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” he said to the paralytic:11—dijo al paralítico—: “te lo digo, levántate, toma tu camilla y vuélvete a tu casa”. “I say to you: Rise up, take up your stretcher, and go into your house.”12Se levantó, tomó en seguida su camilla y se fue de allí, a la vista de todos, de modo que todos se quedaron asombrados y glorificaban a Dios diciendo “¡No hemos visto jamás nada semejante!”. And immediately he got up, and lifting up his stretcher, he went away in the sight of them all, so that they all wondered. And they honored God, by saying, “We have never seen anything like this.”13Salió otra vez a la orilla del mar, y todo el pueblo venía a Él, y les enseñaba. And he departed again to the sea. And the entire crowd came to him, and he taught them.14Al pasar vio a Leví, hijo de Alfeo, sentado en la recaudación de impuestos, y le dijo: “Sígueme”. Y, levantándose, lo siguió. And as he was passing by, he saw Levi of Alphaeus, sitting at the customs office. And he said to him, “Follow me.” And rising up, he followed him.15Y sucedió que cuando Jesús estaba sentado a la mesa en casa de él, muchos publicanos y pecadores se hallaban también (allí) con Él y sus discípulos, porque eran numerosos los que lo habían seguido. And it happened that, as he sat at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners sat at table together with Jesus and his disciples. For those who followed him were many.16Los escribas de entre los fariseos, empero, viendo que comía con los pecadores y publicanos, dijeron a sus discípulos: “¿Por qué come con los publicanos y los pecadores?” And the scribes and the Pharisees, seeing that he ate with tax collectors and sinners, said to his disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”17Mas Jesús, oyéndolo, les dijo: “No necesitan de médico los sanos, sino los que están enfermos. No vine a llamar a justos, sino a pecadores”. Jesus, having heard this, said to them: “The healthy have no need of a doctor, but those who have maladies do. For I came not to call the just, but sinners.”18Un día ayunaban los discípulos de Juan y también los fariseos y vinieron a preguntarle: “¿Por qué, mientras los discípulos de Juan y los de los fariseos ayunan, tus discípulos no ayunan?” And the disciples of John, and the Pharisees, were fasting. And they arrived and said to him, “Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?”19Respondioles Jesús: “¿Pueden acaso ayunar los compañeros del esposo mientras el esposo está con ellos? En tanto que el esposo está con ellos no pueden ayunar. And Jesus said to them: “How can the sons of the wedding fast while the groom is still with them? During whatever time they have the groom with them, they are not able to fast.20Pero tiempo vendrá en que el esposo les será quitado, y entonces en aquel tiempo, ayunarán. But the days will arrive when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they shall fast, in those days.21Nadie zurce remiendo de paño nuevo en vestido viejo; pues de lo contrario, el remiendo tira de él: lo nuevo de lo viejo, y la rotura, se hace peor. No one sews a patch of new cloth onto an old garment. Otherwise, the new addition pulls away from the old, and the tear becomes worse.22Nadie tampoco echa vino nuevo en cueros viejos, pues de lo contrario, el vino hará reventar los cueros, y se pierde el vino lo mismo que los cueros; sino que se ha de poner el vino nuevo en cueros nuevos”. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the wineskins, and the wine will pour out, and the wineskins will be lost. Instead, new wine must be put into new wineskins.”23Sucedió que, un día de sábado, Él iba atravesando los sembrados, y sus discípulos, mientras caminaban, se pusieron a arrancar espigas. And again, while the Lord was walking through the ripe grain on the Sabbath, his disciples, as they advanced, began to separate the ears of grains.24Entonces los fariseos le dijeron: “¿Ves?” ¿Por qué hacen, en día de sábado, lo que no es lícito?” But the Pharisees said to him, “Behold, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbaths?”25Respondioles: “¿Nunca leísteis lo que hizo David cuando tuvo necesidad y sintió hambre, él y sus compañeros, And he said to them: “Have you never read what David did, when he had need and was hungry, both he and those who were with him?26cómo entró en la casa de Dios, en tiempo del sumo sacerdote Abiatar y comió de los panes de la proposición, los cuales no es lícito comer sino a los sacerdotes y dio también a sus compañeros?”. How he went into the house of God, under the high priest Abiathar, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful to eat, except for the priests, and how he gave it to those who were with him?”27Y les dijo: “El sábado se hizo por causa del hombre, y no el hombre por causa del sábado; And he said to them: “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.28de manera que el Hijo del hombre es dueño también del sábado”. And so, the Son of man is Lord, even of the Sabbath.”
