1Se congregaron en torno a Él los fariseos, así como algunos escribas venidos de Jerusalén. And the Pharisees and some of the scribes, arriving from Jerusalem, gathered together before him.2Los cuales vieron que algunos de sus discípulos comían con manos profanas, es decir, no lavadas, And when they had seen certain ones from his disciples eating bread with common hands, that is, with unwashed hands, they disparaged them.3porque los fariseos y los judíos en general, no comen, si no se lavan las manos, hasta la muñeca, guardando la tradición de los antiguos; For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, do not eat without repeatedly washing their hands, holding to the tradition of the elders.4y lo que procede del mercado no lo comen, sin haberlo rociado con agua; y observan muchos otros puntos por tradición, ablución de copas, de jarros, de vasos de bronce. And when returning from the market, unless they wash, they do not eat. And there are many other things which have been handed down to them to observe: the washings of cups, and pitchers, and bronze containers, and beds.5Así, pues, los fariseos y los escribas le preguntaron: “¿Por qué no siguen tus discípulos la tradición de los antiguos, sino que comen con manos profanas?” And so the Pharisees and the scribes questioned him: “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but they eat bread with common hands?”6Les dijo: “Con razón Isaías profetizó sobre vosotros, hipócritas, como está escrito: ‘Este pueblo me honra con los labios, But in response, he said to them: “So well did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, just as it has been written: ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.7pero su corazón está lejos de Mí. Me rinden un culto vano, enseñando doctrinas (que son) mandamientos de hombres’. And in vain do they worship me, teaching the doctrines and precepts of men.’8Vosotros quebrantáis los mandamientos de Dios, al paso que observáis la tradición de los hombres; lavados de jarros y copas y otras muchas cosas semejantes a estas hacéis”. For abandoning the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men, to the washing of pitchers and cups. And you do many other things similar to these.”9Y les dijo: “Lindamente habéis anulado el mandamiento de Dios, para observar la tradición vuestra. And he said to them: “You effectively nullify the precept of God, so that you may observe your own tradition.10Porque Moisés dijo: “Honra a tu padre y a tu madre”, y: “Quien maldice a su padre o a su madre, sea muerto”. Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”17Cuando, dejando a la multitud, hubo entrado en casa, sus discípulos lo interrogaron sobre esta parábola. And when he had entered into the house, away from the crowd, his disciples questioned him about the parable.18Respondioles: “¿A tal punto vosotros también estáis sin inteligencia? ¿No comprendéis que todo lo que de fuera entra en el hombre, no lo puede manchar? And he said to them: “So, are you also without prudence? Do you not understand that everything entering to a man from outside is not able to pollute him?19Porque eso no va al corazón, sino al vientre y sale a un lugar oculto, limpiando así todos los alimentos”. For it does not enter into his heart, but into the gut, and it exits into the sewer, purging all foods.”20Y agregó: “Lo que procede del hombre, eso es lo que mancha al hombre. “But,” he said “the things which go out from a man, these pollute a man.21Porque es de adentro, del corazón de los hombres, de donde salen los malos pensamientos, fornicaciones, hurtos, homicidios, For from within, from the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,22adulterios, codicias, perversiones, dolo, deshonestidad, envidia, blasfemia, soberbia, insensatez. thefts, avarice, wickedness, deceitfulness, homosexuality, an evil eye, blasphemy, self-exaltation, foolishness.23Todas estas cosas malas proceden de dentro y manchan al hombre”. And rising up, he went from there to the area of Tyre and Sidon. For the woman was a Gentile, by birth a Syro-Phoenician. And she petitioned him, so that he would cast the demon from her daughter.27Mas Él le dijo: “Deja primero a los hijos saciarse, porque no está bien tomar el pan de los hijos para darlo a los perritos”. And he said to her: “First allow the sons to have their fill. For it is not good to take away the bread of the sons and throw it to the dogs.”28Ella le contestó diciendo: “Sí, Señor, pero también los perritos debajo de la mesa, comen de las migajas de los hijos”. But she responded by saying to him: “Certainly, Lord. Yet the young dogs also eat, under the table, from the crumbs of the children.”29Entonces Él le dijo: “¡Anda! Por lo que has dicho, el demonio ha salido de tu hija”. And he said to her, “Because of this saying, go; the demon has gone out of your daughter.”30Ella se volvió a su casa, y encontró a la niña acostada sobre la cama, y que el demonio había salido. And when she had gone to her house, she found the girl lying on the bed; and the demon had gone away.31Al volver del territorio de Tiro, vino, por Sidón, hacia el mar de Galilea atravesando el territorio de la Decápolis. And again, departing from the borders of Tyre, he went by way of Sidon to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the area of the Ten Cities.32Le trajeron un sordo y tartamudo, rogándole que pusiese su mano sobre él. And they brought someone who was deaf and mute to him. And they begged him, so that he would lay his hand upon him.33Mas Él, tomándolo aparte, separado de la turba, puso sus dedos en los oídos de él; escupió y tocole la lengua. And taking him away from the crowd, he put his fingers into his ears; and spitting, he touched his tongue.34Después, levantando los ojos al cielo, dio un gemido y le dijo: “Effathá”, es decir, “ábrete”. And gazing up to heaven, he groaned and said to him: “Ephphatha,” which is, “Be opened.”35Y al punto sus oídos se abrieron, y la ligadura de su lengua se desató, y hablaba correctamente. And immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was released, and he spoke correctly.36Mas les mandó no decir nada a nadie; pero cuanto más lo prohibía, más lo proclamaban. And he instructed them not to tell anyone. But as much as he instructed them, so much more did they preach about it.37Y en el colmo de la admiración, decían: “Todo lo hizo bien: hace oír a los sordos, y hablar a los mudos”. And so much more did they wonder, saying: “He has done all things well. He has caused both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”
