Nahúm 2
1Está ya delante de ti el devastador; guarda la plaza fuerte, observa los caminos; fortalece tus lomos, aumenta mucho tus fuerzas. He ascends, who would scatter before your eyes, who would maintain the blockade. Contemplate the way, fortify your back, reinforce virtue greatly.2Pues Yahvé restaura la gloria de Jacob, así como la gloria de Israel; porque los saquearon saqueadores que destruyeron sus vástagos. For the Lord has repaid the arrogance of Jacob, just like the arrogance of Israel. For the despoilers have scattered them, and they have corrupted their procreation.3Los escudos de sus guerreros están teñidos de rojo, sus valientes vestidos de púrpura; sus carros centellean como acero en el día de la reseña, y vibran sus lanzas. The shield of his strong ones is fire, the men of war are in scarlet. The reins of the chariot are fiery in the day of his preparation, and the drivers have been drugged.4Los carros se precipitan por las calles, atraviesan veloces las plazas; parecen antorchas, corren como relámpagos. They have become confused on their journey. The four-horse chariots have collided in the streets. Their appearance is like torches, like lightning dashing around.5Él (rey) llama a sus valientes, que se precipitan por los caminos y corren presurosos al muro; se prepara la defensa. He will call to mind his strong ones; they will destroy along their journey. They will quickly ascend its walls, and a shelter will be prepared.6Pero ya se abren las puertas de los ríos, y cae el palacio. The gates of the rivers have been opened, and the temple has been pulled down to the ground.7Ha sido llevado a cabo; (Nínive) ha sido desnudada, es llevada (al cautiverio); sus criadas gimen, como con voz de paloma, y se golpean los pechos. And the foot soldier has been led away captive, and her handmaids were driven away, mourning like doves, murmuring in their hearts.8Nínive es desde la antigüedad como un estanque de aguas, las cuales se van. ¡Deteneos, deteneos! pero nadie vuelve. And Nineveh, her waters are like a fish pond. Yet truly, they have fled away: “Stand, stand!” But there is no one who will turn back.9¡Saquead la plata! ¡Saquead el oro! no tienen fin los tesoros, es inmenso el peso de toda suerte de objetos preciosos. Despoil the silver, despoil the gold. And there is no end to all the riches of desirable equipment.10Queda vacía, devastada y desolada; se desmayan los corazones y tiemblan las rodillas; se quebrantan todos los lomos, y palidecen los rostros de todos. She has been scattered, and cut, and torn apart. And the heart melts, and the knees buckle, and weakness is in every temperament. And the faces of them all are like a black kettle.11¿Dónde está la guarida de los leones, el lugar de pasto de los leoncillos? ¿Adónde se han retirado el león, la leona y el cachorro, sin que nadie los espantase? Where is the dwelling place of the lions, and the feeding ground of the young lions, to which the lion went, so as to open a way for the young lion, and so that there would be none to make them afraid?12el león que destrozaba lo que necesitaba para sus cachorros, y ahogaba para sus leonas; llenaba sus cubiles de presa y sus guaridas de rapiña. The lion seized enough for his young, and killed enough for his lionesses, and he filled his caves with prey, and his den with spoils.13Heme aquí contra ti, dice Yahvé de los ejércitos; reduciré a humo tus carros, y la espada devorará a tus leoncillos; exterminaré de la tierra tu rapiña, y no será oída más la voz de tus embajadores. Behold, I will come to you, says the Lord of hosts, and I will burn your chariots even to smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions. And I will exterminate your prey from the land, and the voice of your messengers shall no longer be heard.
