1Hablaron María y Aarón contra Moisés, con motivo de la mujer cusita que este se había tomado; pues estaba casado con una mujer de Cus. And Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses, because of his wife, an Ethiopian,2Decían: “¿Acaso tan solo por boca de Moisés ha hablado Yahvé? ¿No ha hablado también por nosotros?” Y lo oyó Yahvé. and they said: “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? Has he not also spoken similarly to us?” And when the Lord had heard this,3Es de saber que Moisés era hombre muy manso, más que hombre alguno sobre la tierra. (for Moses was a man exceedingly meek, beyond all the men who were living upon the earth)4Al instante dijo Yahvé a Moisés, a Aarón y a María: “Id los tres al Tabernáculo de la Reunión.” Y salieron los tres. immediately he spoke to him, and to Aaron and Miriam, “Go out, you three only, to the tabernacle of the covenant.” And when they had gone out,5Y descendió Yahvé en la columna de nube, y poniéndose a la entrada del Tabernáculo de la Reunión, llamó a Aarón y a María que se presentaran ambos. the Lord descended in a column of cloud, and he stood at the entrance of the tabernacle, calling to Aaron and Miriam. And when they had advanced,6Y Él les dijo: “Escuchad mis palabras: Si alguno de vosotros es profeta, Yo Yahvé me le doy a conocer en visión o le hablo en sueños. he said to them: “Listen to my words. If there will be among you a prophet of the Lord, I will appear to him in a vision, or I will speak to him through a dream.7No lo hago así con mi siervo Moisés, el cual es fiel en toda mi casa. But it is not so with my servant Moses, who is the most faithful in all my house.8Con él hablo cara a cara y claramente, no por medio de enigmas; pues él ve la imagen de Yahvé. ¿Por qué, pues, os atrevisteis a hablar contra mi siervo Moisés?” For I speak with him mouth to mouth, and plainly. And not through enigmas and figures does he perceive the Lord. Therefore, why were you not afraid to disparage my servant Moses?”9Y habiéndose inflamado contra ellos su ira se fue Yahvé. And being angry against them, he went away.10Después se retiró la nube que estaba sobre el Tabernáculo y he aquí que María apareció cubierta de lepra como de nieve. Cuando Aarón volvió el rostro hacia María, la vio cubierta de lepra. Likewise, the cloud which was over the tabernacle withdrew. And behold, Miriam appeared to be white with a leprosy, like snow. And when Aaron had looked upon her, and he had seen the spreading of the leprosy,11Entonces Aarón dijo a Moisés: “Oh, señor mío, no nos imputes, te suplico, este pecado; pues hemos obrado neciamente, hemos pecado. he said to Moses: “I beg you, my lord, not to impose upon us this sin, which we have committed foolishly.12No sea ella como un abortivo, que al salir del seno de su madre tiene ya medio consumida la carne.” Do not let this one be like one who is dead, or like an abortion that has been cast from the womb of her mother. Behold, half of her flesh is already consumed by leprosy.”13Entonces clamó Moisés a Yahvé, diciendo: “Te ruego, oh Dios, que la sanes.” And Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “O God, I beg you: heal her.”14Y Yahvé respondió a Moisés: “Si su padre la hubiera escupido en la cara, ¿no se avergonzaría ella por siete días? Sea, por lo tanto, excluida del campamento por siete días, y después será recibida de nuevo.” And the Lord answered him: “If her father had spit on her face, should she not have been filled with shame for at least seven days? Let her be separated, outside the camp, for seven days, and after that, she will be called back.”15Fue María excluida del campamento por siete días; y el pueblo no se movió del lugar hasta la reincorporación de María. Después el pueblo partió de Haserot; y acamparon en el desierto de Farán. And so Miriam was excluded from the camp for seven days. And the people did not move from that place, until Miriam was called back.
