1Se acercaron de las familias de Manasés, hijo de José, las hijas de Salfaad, hijo de Héfer, hijo de Galaad, hijo de Maquir, hijo de Manasés. Los nombres de sus hijas eran: Maalá, Noá, Hoglá, Milcá y Tirsá. Then there approached the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, who was the son of Joseph: and their names are Mahlah, and Noa, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.2Presentándose a la entrada del Tabernáculo de la Reunión ante Moisés y ante el sacerdote Eleazar, y ante todos los príncipes de todo el pueblo, dijeron: And they stood before Moses and Eleazar the priest, and all the leaders of the people, at the door of the tabernacle of the covenant, and they said:3“Nuestro padre murió en el desierto; él no pertenecía al grupo de los que se confabularon contra Yahvé, en la facción de Coré; sino que murió por su propio pecado, sin tener hijos varones. “Our father died in the desert, and was not with the sedition, which was stirred up against the Lord under Korah, but he died in his own sin; he had no male sons. Why is his name taken away from his family, because he had no son? Give us a possession among the kinsmen of our father.”4¿Y por eso ha de borrarse el nombre de nuestro padre de en medio de su familia, por no haber tenido hijo varón? Danos a nosotras posesión entre los hermanos de nuestro padre.” And Moses referred their case to the judgment of the Lord.5Moisés presentó el caso de ellas ante Yahvé. And the Lord said to him:6Y Yahvé respondió a Moisés, diciendo: “The daughters of Zelophehad are asking for something just. So give them a possession among the kinsmen of their father, and let them succeed him in his inheritance.7“La causa de las hijas de Salfaad es justa. Les darás, pues, posesión hereditaria entre los hermanos de su padre, y les transmitirás la herencia de su padre. And to the sons of Israel, you shall speak these things:8Y a los hijos de Israel dirás: ‘Cuando un hombre muere sin hijos, pasaréis su herencia a su hija. When a man dies without a son, his inheritance shall be transferred to his daughter.9Y si no tiene hija, la daréis a sus hermanos. If he has no daughter, his brothers shall succeed him.10Y si no tiene hermanos, daréis la herencia a los hermanos de su padre. But if there were also no brothers, you shall give the inheritance to the brothers of his father.11Y si su padre no tiene hermanos, pasaréis su herencia al más próximo de la familia, el cual la poseerá. Esto será para los hijos de Israel regla de derecho, como Yahvé lo tiene mandado a Moisés’.” But if he has no paternal uncles, the inheritance shall be given to those who are closest to him. And this shall be, for the sons of Israel, consecrated as a perpetual law, just as the Lord has instructed Moses.”12Dijo Yahvé a Moisés: “Sube a este monte Abarim y mira la tierra que he dado a los hijos de Israel. The Lord also said to Moses: “Ascend onto this mountain, Abarim, and contemplate from there the land, which I will give to the sons of Israel.13Después de haberla visto, tú también te reunirás con tu pueblo, como tu hermano Aarón, And when you have seen it, you shall then go to your people, just as your brother Aaron went.14por cuanto en el desierto de Sin, en aquella rebelión del pueblo, fuisteis rebeldes a mi orden y no quisisteis glorificarme a sus ojos con ocasión de las aguas. Estas son las aguas de Meribá en Cades, en el desierto de Sin.” For you offended me in the desert of Sin at the Contradiction of the multitude; neither were you willing to sanctify me in their sight over the waters. These are the Waters of Contradiction at Kadesh in the desert of Sin.”15Entonces Moisés habló a Yahvé, diciendo: Moses answered him:16“Destine Yahvé, el Dios de los espíritus de todos los vivientes, un varón que gobierne este pueblo, “May the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, provide a man, who may be over this multitude,17que salga delante de ellos y entre delante de ellos y que los saque y los introduzca, para que el pueblo de Yahvé no sea como un rebaño sin pastor.” and who may be able to exit and enter before them, and who may lead them out or lead them in: lest the people of the Lord be like sheep without a shepherd.”18Y dijo Yahvé a Moisés: “Toma a Josué, hijo de Nun, varón de espíritu, y pon tu mano sobre él. And the Lord said to him: “Take Joshua, the son of Nun, a man in whom the Spirit is, and place your hand upon him.19Le presentarás ante el sacerdote Eleazar y ante todo el pueblo, y le darás tus órdenes delante de ellos. And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest and the entire multitude.20Le comunicarás parte de tu autoridad, a fin de que le obedezca todo el pueblo de los hijos de Israel. And you shall give him the precepts in the sight of all, and a portion of your glory, so that the entire congregation of the sons of Israel may listen to him.21Se presentará al sacerdote Eleazar, que consulte por él el juicio de los Urim, delante de Yahvé. Según su respuesta saldrá y según su respuesta entrará, él y con él todos los hijos de Israel, y todo el pueblo.” On his behalf, if anything is to be done, Eleazar the priest shall consult the Lord. He, and all the sons of Israel with him, and the rest of the multitude, shall go out and enter in at his word.”22Hizo Moisés como Yahvé se lo había mandado. Tomó a Josué y le presentó ante el sacerdote Eleazar y ante todo el pueblo; Moses did just as the Lord had instructed. And when he had brought Joshua, he set him before Eleazar the priest, and before the entire gathering of the people.23y poniendo sobre él sus manos, le dio sus órdenes, como Yahvé había dispuesto por boca de Moisés. And imposing his hands upon his head, he repeated all that the Lord had commanded.
