1Habló Yahvé a Moisés, diciendo: And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:2“Manda a los hijos de Israel que alejen del campamento a todo leproso, y a todo aquel que padece flujo, así como a todo manchado por un muerto. “Instruct the sons of Israel to cast out of the camp every leper, and those who have a flow of seed, and those who have been polluted because of the dead;3Alejad tanto a hombres como a mujeres, echadlos fuera del campamento para que no contaminen los campamentos de aquellos en medio de quienes Yo habito.” cast out of the camp both male and female, lest they contaminate it while I am dwelling with you.”4Así lo hicieron los hijos de Israel, y los echaron fuera del campamento. Según Yahvé había mandado a Moisés, así lo hicieron los hijos de Israel. And the sons of Israel did so, and they cast them out, beyond the camp, just as the Lord had spoken to Moses.5Yahvé habló a Moisés, diciendo: And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:6“Di a los hijos de Israel: Si un hombre o una mujer cometiere cualquier pecado de los que suelen cometer los hombres, ofendiendo a Yahvé, téngase por culpable, “Say to the sons of Israel: A man or a woman, when they have done anything out of all the sins that often befall men, or if, by negligence, they have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and so have committed an offense,7confiese el pecado cometido y restituya íntegramente aquello en que haya delinquido, añadiendo un quinto; lo restituirá a aquel contra quien se hizo culpable. they shall confess their sin, and they shall restore the principle itself, plus a fifth part above it, to any against whom they have sinned.8Si este ya no tiene pariente a quien se podría restituir el objeto de delito, la restitución del mismo ha de hacerse a Yahvé (y será entregado) al sacerdote, además del carnero expiatorio con que se hará la expiación por el culpable.” But if there would be no one to receive it, they shall give it to the Lord, and it shall be for the priest, except for the ram, which is offered for expiation, in order to be a pleasing victim.9“Toda ofrenda alzada de todas las cosas santificadas que los hijos de Israel presentaren al sacerdote, a este pertenecerá. Likewise, all the first-fruits, which the sons of Israel offer, belong to the priest,10Las (demás) cosas ofrecidas por cualquier persona pertenecen a esta; mas lo que uno da al sacerdote, a este le pertenecerá.” with whatever is offered by each one at the Sanctuary, and which is delivered into the hands of the priest; it shall be his.”11Habló Yahvé a Moisés, diciendo: And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:12“Habla a los hijos de Israel y diles: Si la mujer de un hombre fornicare, cometiendo contra él infidelidad, “Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them: The man whose wife will have gone astray, and, disdaining her husband,13y otro hombre se acostare con ella en relación carnal, sin saberlo el marido y quedando el hecho oculto —porque cuando ella se mancilló no hubo testigo contra ella, ni fue sorprendida— will have slept with another man, and if her husband cannot discover it, but the adultery is secret, and if it cannot be proved by witnesses, because she was not caught in the shameful act,14si viniere sobre el (marido) espíritu de celos, de modo que tenga celos de su mujer, porque ella se ha mancillado, o si viniere espíritu de celos sobre él, de modo que tenga celos de su mujer, sin que ella se hubiese mancillado; if the spirit of jealousy stirs up the husband against his wife, who either has been polluted or is being assailed with a false suspicion,15entonces ese hombre llevará a su mujer al sacerdote, ofreciendo por ella, en oblación, un décimo de efa de harina de cebada, sin derramar aceite encima, ni poner sobre ella incienso; porque es ofrenda de celos, ofrenda de recuerdo, que trae el pecado a la memoria. he shall bring her to the priest, and he shall offer an oblation for her, a tenth part of native barley meal. He shall not pour oil over it, nor shall he place frankincense on it, because it is a sacrifice for jealousy, or an oblation investigating adultery.16Luego el sacerdote hará que (la mujer) se acerque, y la colocará delante de Yahvé. Therefore, the priest shall offer it, and he shall set it in the sight of the Lord.17Y tomará el sacerdote agua santa en una vasija de barro, y polvo del suelo de la Morada, y lo echará en el agua. And he shall take up holy water in an earthen vessel, and he shall cast a little earth from the pavement of the tabernacle into it.18El sacerdote, después de mandar que la mujer se ponga de pie delante de Yahvé, soltará la cabellera de la mujer, y pondrá en sus manos la ofrenda de recuerdo, que es la ofrenda de los celos, teniendo él en su mano el agua amarga que acarrea maldición. And while the woman stands before the Lord, he shall uncover her head, and he shall place over her hands the sacrifice of recollection and oblation of jealousy. But he shall take hold of the most bitter waters, in which he has gathered curses with loathing.19Y conjurará el sacerdote a la mujer diciendo: Si no se ha acostado contigo ninguno, y si no te has descarriado contaminándote con quien no es tu marido, no te hará daño esta agua amarga que acarrea maldición. And he shall bind her by an oath, and he shall say: ‘If another man has not slept with you, and if you have not been polluted by forsaking the bed of your husband, these most bitter waters, into which I have gathered curses, shall not harm you.20Mas si te has descarriado con quien no es tu marido, y te has contaminado acostándose contigo algún hombre, que no sea tu marido, But if you have turned away from your husband, and also have been defiled, and have lain together with another man,21entonces el sacerdote conjurará a la mujer con juramento de maldición, y le dirá: “¡Que te ponga Yahvé por ejemplo de maldición e imprecación en medio de tu pueblo, y haga Yahvé que enflaquezcan tus caderas y se hinche tu vientre! these curses shall be thrown upon you: May the Lord turn you into a curse and an example among all his people. May he cause your thigh to rot, and may your abdomen swell up and burst out.22¡Entre en tus entrañas esta agua que acarrea maldición, para que se hinche tu vientre y enflaquezcan tus caderas!” Y dirá la mujer: “¡Amén amén!” May the cursed waters enter into your stomach, and may your womb swell and your thigh rot.’ And the woman shall respond: ‘Amen, amen.’23Luego el sacerdote escribirá estas maldiciones en un rollo y las desleirá en las aguas amargas. And the priest shall write these curses in a little book, and then he shall erase them with the very bitter waters, into which he had gathered the curses,24Y hará beber a la mujer el agua amarga que acarrea maldición; y penetrará en ella el agua de maldición para serle amarga. and he shall give it to her to drink. And when she has emptied it,25Después tomará el sacerdote de mano de la mujer la oblación de celos, la mecerá ante Yahvé, y la presentará delante del altar. the priest shall take from her hand the sacrifice of jealousy, and he shall elevate it before the Lord, and he shall impose it upon the altar. Yet only after he first26Y tomando de la oblación un puñado como ofrenda de recuerdo, lo quemará en el altar; después dará de beber a la mujer el agua. takes a handful of the sacrifice from that which is offered, and burns it upon the altar, and then he may give the most bitter waters to the woman as a drink.27Dándosele a ella el agua sucederá que si ella se ha deshonrado, siendo infiel a su marido, en tal caso penetrará en ella el agua de maldición para serle amarga; y se le hinchará el vientre y enflaquecerán sus caderas, de modo que aquella mujer será una execración en medio de su pueblo. And when she drinks it, if she has been defiled, and, having despised her husband, is guilty of adultery, the curse shall pass through her, and as her belly swells up, her thigh shall decay, and the woman shall become a curse and an example to all the people.28Pero si la mujer no se ha mancillado, siendo pura, quedará ilesa y tendrá hijos.” But if she has not been defiled, she shall be unharmed and she shall bear children.29Esta es la ley de los celos, cuando una mujer se ha descarriado contaminándose con quien no es su marido; This is the law for jealousy. If a woman has turned aside from her husband, and if she has been polluted,30o cuando sobre un hombre viene espíritu de celos, de modo que tenga celos de su mujer: presentará a la mujer ante Yahvé, y el sacerdote hará con ella según toda esta ley. and if the husband, being stirred up by the spirit of jealousy, has brought her before the sight of the Lord, and the priest has acted toward her according to all that has been written:31El marido quedará así libre de culpa, pero la mujer pagará su iniquidad.” then the husband shall be without guilt, and she shall bear her iniquity.”
