Proverbios 2

¹Hijo mío, si acoges mis palabras, y guardas mis preceptos en tu corazón, My son, if you would accept my words, and conceal my commandments within you,²aplicando tu oído a la sabiduría, e inclinando tu corazón a la inteligencia; so that your ears may listen to wisdom, then bend your heart in order to know prudence.³si invocas la prudencia y con tu voz llamas a la inteligencia; For if you would call upon wisdom and bend your heart to prudence,⁴si la buscas como la plata, y la exploras como un tesoro, if you will seek her like money, and dig for her as if for treasure,⁵entonces sabrás lo que es el temor de Yahvé, y habrás hallado el conocimiento de Dios. then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and you will discover the knowledge of God.⁶Porque Yahvé da la sabiduría; de su boca salen el conocimiento y la inteligencia. For the Lord bestows wisdom, and out of his mouth, prudence and knowledge.⁷Él guarda para los buenos la salvación, y es el escudo de los que proceden rectamente; He will preserve the salvation of the righteous, and he will protect those who walk in simplicity:⁸El cubre las sendas de la justicia, y protege los pasos de sus santos. serving the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of sanctity.⁹Entonces conocerás la justicia y la equidad, la rectitud y todo sendero bueno. Then you shall understand justice and judgment, and equity, and every good path.¹⁰Cuando entrare en tu corazón la sabiduría, y se complaciere tu alma en el conocimiento, If wisdom is to enter into your heart, and if knowledge is to become pleasing to your soul,¹¹velará sobre ti la prudencia, y la inteligencia será tu salvaguardia, then counsel must guard you, and prudence must serve you,¹²para librarte del camino de los malvados, y de los hombres de lengua perversa, so that you may be rescued from the evil way, and from the man who speaks perversities,¹³de aquellos que abandonan el camino recto, para andar por sendas tenebrosas; from those who leave the straight path to walk in dark ways,¹⁴que se alegran haciendo el mal, y se deleitan en las peores perversidades. who rejoice when they have done evil, and who exult in the most wicked things.¹⁵Siguen caminos tortuosos, y perversas son sus andanzas. Their ways are perverse, and their steps are infamous.¹⁶Ella te librará de la mujer ajena, de la extraña que usa de dulces palabras, So may you be rescued from the foreign woman, and from the outsider, who softens her speech,¹⁷que deja al compañero de su juventud y se olvida del pacto de su Dios. and who leaves behind the Guide of her youth,¹⁸Su casa está en la vereda de la muerte, y sus pasos conducen a la ruina. and who has forgotten the covenant of her God. For her household inclines toward death, and her paths toward Hell.¹⁹Cuantos entran en ella no retornan, no alcanzan más las sendas de la vida. All those who enter to her will not return again, nor will they take hold of the paths of life.²⁰Anda tú, pues, por el camino de los buenos; y sigue las pisadas de los justos. So may you walk in the good way, and keep to the difficult paths of the just.²¹Porque los rectos habitarán la tierra, y los íntegros permanecerán en ella. For those who are upright shall live upon the earth, and the simple shall continue upon it.²²Mas los impíos serán exterminados de la tierra, y desarraigados de ella los pérfidos. Yet truly, the impious shall perish from the earth, and those who act unjustly shall be taken away from it.
