Proverbios 7

1Hijo mío, ten en cuenta mis palabras, guarda bien dentro de ti mis enseñanzas. My son, guard my words and conceal my precepts within you.2Presta atención a mis preceptos, y vivirás; guarda mis mandamientos como la niña de tus ojos. Son, preserve my commandments, and you shall live. And keep my law as the pupil of your eye.3Átalos a tus dedos, escríbelos en la tabla de tu corazón. Bind it with your fingers; write it on the tablets of your heart.4Di a la sabiduría: “¡Tú eres mi hermana!” y llama a la inteligencia pariente tuya, Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and call prudence your friend.5para que te preserve de la mujer extraña, de la ajena con sus lisonjeras palabras. So may she guard you from the woman who is an outsider, and from the stranger who sweetens her words.6Estaba yo a la ventana de mi casa, mirando a través de las celosías, For I gaze from the window of my house, through the lattice,7y observando a los necios, advertí entre los mancebos a un joven insensato, and I see little ones. I consider a frenzied youth,8que pasaba por la calle, junto a la esquina, yendo hacia la casa de ella; who crosses the street at the corner and close to the way of that house.9era al caer de la tarde, cuando ya oscurecía, en horas de la noche y en la oscuridad. He steps into shadows, as day becomes evening, into the darkness and gloom of the night.10y he aquí que una mujer le sale al paso, con atavíos de ramera y corazón falso, And behold, a woman meets him, dressed like a harlot, prepared to captivate souls: chattering and rambling,11una de esas apasionadas y desenfrenadas, cuyos pies no pueden descansar en casa, unwilling to bear silence, unable to keep her feet at home,12y que se ponen en acecho, ora en la calle, ora en la plaza, y en todas las esquinas. now outside, now in the streets, now lying in ambush near the corners.13Le echa mano y le besa, y con semblante descarado le dice: And overtaking the youth, she kisses him, and with a provocative face, she flatters him, saying:14“Tenía que ofrecer un sacrificio pacífico, hoy he cumplido mis votos. “I vowed sacrifices for well-being. Today I have repaid my vows.15Por eso he salido a tu encuentro, para buscarte, y al fin te he hallado. Because of this, I have gone out to meet you, desiring to see you, and I have found you.16He cubierto con colchas mi lecho, con tapices de hilo recamado de Egipto. I have woven my bed with cords. I have strewn it with embroidered tapestries from Egypt.17He perfumado mi dormitorio con mirra, con áloe y cinamomo. I have sprinkled my bed with myrrh, aloe, and cinnamon.18Ven; embriaguémonos de amores hasta la alborada, entreguémonos a las delicias de la voluptuosidad. Come, let us be inebriated in abundance, and let us delight in the embraces of desire, until the day begins to dawn.19Pues el marido no está en casa, emprendió un viaje y está lejos, For my husband is not in his house. He has gone away on a very long journey.20llevando consigo un talego de plata; no volverá a casa hasta el día del plenilunio.” He took with him a bag of money. He will return to his house on the day of the full moon.”21Le rinde con la abundancia de sus palabras, le arrastra con los halagos de sus labios. She enmeshed him with many words, and she drew him forward with the flattery of her lips.22Al punto va en pos de ella, como el buey que es llevado al matadero, cual loco que corre para corregir al necio, Immediately, he follows her, like an ox being led to the sacrifice, and like a lamb acting lasciviously, and not knowing that he is being drawn foolishly into chains,23hasta que una saeta le atraviesa el hígado; como el pájaro que se precipita en la red, sin advertir que es una celada contra su vida. until the arrow pierces his liver. It is just as if a bird were to hurry into the snare. And he does not know that his actions endanger his own soul.24Escuchadme, pues, hijos míos, atended las palabras de mi boca. Therefore, my son, hear me now, and attend to the words of my mouth.25No se desvíe tu corazón hacia los caminos de ella, ni sigas errando por sus senderos. Do not let your mind be pulled into her ways. And do not be deceived by her paths.26Porque son muchos los que cayeron traspasados por ella, innumerables los fuertes que le deben la muerte. For she has tossed aside many wounded, and some of those who were very strong have been slain by her.27Su casa es el camino del scheol, que lleva a la morada de la muerte. Her household is the way to Hell, reaching even to the inner places of death.
