Proverbios 8
1He aquí que la sabiduría levanta la voz, y se hace oír la inteligencia. Does not wisdom call out, and prudence bestow her voice?2En las altas cimas, junto a la carretera, en las encrucijadas de los caminos es donde se para. At the summits and the tops of exalted places, standing above the ways, in the midst of the paths,3En las puertas, en las entradas de la ciudad, en los umbrales de las casas, hace ella oír su voz: beside the gates of the city, at the very doors, she speaks, saying:4“A vosotros, mortales, me dirijo, mi voz va a los hijos de los hombres. “O men, to you I call out, and my voice is to the sons of men.5Aprended, oh necios, la sabiduría, y vosotros, oh insensatos, la inteligencia. O little ones, understand discernment. And you who are unwise, turn your souls.6Escuchadme que voy a deciros cosas magníficas, y mis labios se abrirán para (enseñar) lo recto. Listen, for I will speak about great things, and my lips will be opened, so as to foretell what is right.7Porque verdad proclama mi boca, y mis labios abominan la maldad. My throat shall practice truth, and my lips shall detest the impious.8Justos son todos los dichos de mi boca; nada hay en ellos de torcido o perverso. All my words are just. There is no depravity in them, and no perversity.9Todos son rectos para quien tiene inteligencia, y justos para quien llegó a entender. They are upright to those who understand, and equitable to those who discover knowledge.10Recibid mi instrucción, y no la plata, y la sabiduría, antes que el oro escogido. Accept my discipline, and not money. Choose the doctrine that is greater than gold.11Pues la sabiduría vale más que perlas, y todas las cosas deseables no la igualan. For wisdom is better than all that is most precious, and everything that is desirable cannot compare to her.12Yo, la sabiduría, habito con la prudencia, y poseo el conocimiento más profundo. I, wisdom, dwell in counsel, and I am inside learned thoughts.13Temer a Yahvé es detestar el mal; yo abomino la soberbia, la altivez, el mal camino y la boca perversa. The fear of the Lord hates evil. I detest arrogance, and pride, and every wicked way, and a mouth with a double tongue.14Mío es el consejo y la prudencia, mía la inteligencia y mía la fuerza. Counsel is mine, and equity. Prudence is mine. Strength is mine.15Por mí reinan los reyes y los príncipes administran la justicia. Through me, kings reign and legislators decree just conditions.16Por mí mandan los gobernantes, los grandes y todos los jueces de la tierra. Through me, princes rule and the powerful decree justice.17Yo amo a los que me aman; y los que me buscan me hallarán. I love those who love me. And those who stand watch for me until morning shall discover me.18En mi mano están la riqueza y la gloria, los bienes duraderos y la justicia. With me, are wealth and glory, superb riches and justice.19Mi fruto es mejor que el oro más puro, y mis productos son mejores que la plata escogida. For my fruit is better than gold and precious stones, and my progeny better than choice silver.20Yo voy por las sendas de la justicia por medio del recto camino, I walk in the way of justice, in the midst of the paths of judgment,21para dar bienes a mis amigos, y henchir sus tesoros. so that I may enrich those who love me, and thus complete their treasures.22El Señor me poseyó al principio de sus caminos, antes de sus obras más antiguas. The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his ways, before he made anything, from the beginning.23Desde la eternidad fui constituida, desde los orígenes, antes que existiera la tierra. I was ordained from eternity, and out of antiquity, before the earth was formed.24Antes que los abismos fui engendrada yo; no había aún fuentes ricas en aguas. The abyss did not yet exist, and I was already conceived; neither had the fountains of waters yet erupted.25Antes que fuesen asentados los montes; antes que los collados fui yo dada a luz, The mountains, with their great mass, had not yet been established. Before the hills, I was brought forth.26cuando aún no había creado Él la tierra ni los campos, ni el primer polvo del orbe. Still he had not made the earth, and the rivers, and the poles of the globe of the earth.27Cuando estableció los cielos, allí estaba yo; cuando trazó el horizonte sobre la faz del abismo; I was already present: when he prepared the heavens; when, with a certain law and a circuit, he fortified the abyss;28cuando fijó las nubes en lo alto, y dio fuerza a las aguas de la profundidad; when he made firm the sky above, and set free the fountains of waters;29cuando señaló sus límites al mar, para que las aguas no traspasasen sus orillas; cuando puso los cimientos de la tierra, when he encompassed the sea within its limits, and laid down a law for the waters, lest they transgress their limits; when he weighed the foundations of the earth.30entonces estaba yo con Él, como arquitecto, deleitándome todos los días y me regocijaba delante de Él continuamente. I was with him in composing all things. And I was delighted, throughout every day, by playing in his sight at all times,31Me holgaba en el orbe de la tierra, teniendo mi delicia en los hijos de los hombres. playing in globe of the earth. And my delight was to be with the sons of men.32Y ahora, hijos, oídme: Dichosos aquellos que siguen mis caminos. Therefore, sons, hear me now. Blessed are those who preserve my ways.33Escuchad la instrucción, y sed sabios; y no la rechacéis. Listen to discipline, and become wise, and do not be willing to cast it aside.34Bienaventurado el hombre que me oye, y vela a mis puertas día tras día, aguardando en el umbral de mi entrada. Blessed is the man who listens to me, and who stands watch at my gates every day, and who observes at the posts of my doors.35Porque quien me halla a mí, ha hallado la vida, y alcanza el favor de Yahvé. He who finds me, finds life, and he will draw salvation from the Lord.36El que a mí me ofende daña a su propia alma; todos los que me odian, aman la muerte. But he who sins against me will wound his own soul. All who hate me love death.”
