Proverbios 9

1La sabiduría se ha edificado una casa, ha labrado sus siete columnas; Wisdom has built a house for herself. She has hewn seven columns.2inmoló sus víctimas, mezcló su vino, y tiene preparada su mesa. She has immolated her victims. She has mixed her wine and set forth her table.3Envió sus doncellas y clama sobre las cimas más altas de la ciudad: She has sent her maids to call out to the tower and to the fortified walls of the city,4“¡El que es simple venga aquí!” y al falto de inteligencia le dice: “If anyone is little, let him come to me.” And to the unwise, she has said:5“Venid, y comed de mi pan; y bebed el vino que yo he mezclado. “Approach. Eat my bread, and drink the wine that I have mixed for you.6Dejad ya la necedad, y viviréis, y caminad por la senda de la inteligencia.” Leave behind childishness. And live and walk by the ways of prudence.”7Quien reprende al escarnecedor se afrenta a sí mismo, y el que corrige al impío, se acarrea baldón. Whoever teaches a mocker causes injury to himself. And whoever argues with the impious produces a blemish on himself.8No corrijas al escarnecedor, no sea que te odie; corrige al sabio, y te amará. Do not be willing to argue with a mocker, lest he hate you. Dispute with the wise, and he will love you.9Da al sabio (consejo), y será más sabio; enseña al justo, y crecerá en doctrina. Present an opportunity to the wise, and wisdom shall be added to him. Teach the just, and he will hurry to receive it.10El principio de la sabiduría consiste en el temor de Dios, y conocer al Santo es inteligencia. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of holiness is prudence.11Pues por mí se multiplicarán tus días, y se aumentaran los años de tu vida. For by me, your days will be multiplied and years of life will be added to you.12Si eres sabio, lo serás en bien tuyo, y si mofador, tú solo lo pagarás. If you would be wise, you will be so for yourself. But if you would be one who ridicules, you alone shall carry the evil.13Una mujer insensata y turbulenta, una ignorante que no sabe nada, A foolish and loud woman, who is full of enticements and who knows nothing at all,14se sienta a la puerta de su casa, sobre una silla, en las colinas de la ciudad, sat at the entrance of her house on a seat, in a high place of the city,15para invitar a los que pasan, a los que van por su camino: so as to call to those who were passing by the way and continuing on their journey:16“¡El que es simple, venga aquí!”; y al falto de inteligencia le dice: “Whoever is little, let him turn aside to me.” And to the frenzied, she said,17“Las aguas hurtadas son (más) dulces; y el pan comido clandestinamente es (más) sabroso.” “Stolen waters are more soothing, and secret bread is more pleasant.”18Y él no advierte que allí hay muerte, y que los convidados de ella van a las profundidades del scheol. And he did not know that giants are there, and that her companions are in the depths of Hell.
