1Junto a los ríos de Babilonia, allí nos sentábamos y llorábamos, acordándonos de Sión. A Psalm of David: to Jeremiah. Above the rivers of Babylon, there we sat and wept, while we remembered Zion.2En los sauces de aquella tierra colgábamos nuestras cítaras; By the willow trees, in their midst, we hung up our instruments.3porque allí nuestros raptores nos pedían cánticos, y nuestros atormentadores alegría: “Cantadnos de los cantares de Sión.” For, in that place, those who led us into captivity questioned us about the words of the songs. And those who carried us away said: “Sing us a hymn from the songs of Zion.”4¿Cómo cantar un cántico de Yahvé en tierra extraña? How can we sing a song of the Lord in a foreign land?5Si yo te olvido, oh Jerusalén, olvídese de sí mi diestra. If I ever forget you, Jerusalem, let my right hand be forgotten.6Péguese mi lengua a mi paladar, si no me acordare de ti; si no pusiese a Jerusalén por encima de toda alegría. May my tongue adhere to my jaws, if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem first, as the beginning of my joy.7Acuérdate, Yahvé, contra los hijos de Edom, del día de Jerusalén. Ellos decían: “¡Arrasad, arrasadla hasta los cimientos!” O Lord, call to mind the sons of Edom, in the day of Jerusalem, who say: “Despoil it, despoil it, even to its foundation.”8Hija de Babilonia, la devastada: dichoso aquel que ha de pagarte el precio de lo que nos hiciste. O daughter of Babylon, have pity. Blessed is he who will repay you with your payment, which you have paid to us.9¡Dichoso el que tomará tus pequeñuelos y los estrellará contra la peña!
