Salmos 88

1Maskil de Etán ezrahita. The understanding of Ethan the Ezrahite.2Quiero cantar eternamente las misericordias de Yahvé; que mi boca anuncie tu fidelidad de generación en generación. I will sing the mercies of the Lord in eternity. I will announce your truth with my mouth, from generation to generation.3Porque Tú dijiste: “La misericordia está afianzada para siempre”, y en el cielo afirmaste tu fidelidad: For you have said: Mercy will be built in the heavens, unto eternity. Your truth will be prepared there.4“He hecho un pacto con mi escogido, he jurado a David, mi siervo: I have set up a covenant with my elect. I have sworn to David my servant:5Para siempre haré estable tu descendencia; daré firmeza a tu trono por todas las generaciones.” I will prepare your offspring, even in eternity. And I will build up your throne, from generation to generation.6Los cielos pregonan tus maravillas, oh Yahvé, y tu fidelidad la asamblea de los santos. The heavens will confess your miracles, Lord, and also your truth, in the Church of the saints.7Porque ¿quién en los cielos se igualará a Yahvé, y quién entre los hijos de Dios será semejante a Él? For who among the clouds is equal to the Lord? Who among the sons of God is like God?8Dios es glorificado en la asamblea de los santos; grande y formidable sobre cuantos le rodean. God is glorified by the counsel of the saints. He is great and terrible above all those who are around him.9¡Yahvé, Dios de los ejércitos! ¿Quién como Tú? Poderoso eres, oh Yah, y tu fidelidad te circunda. O Lord, God of hosts, who is like you? You are powerful, Lord, and your truth is all around you.10Tú señoreas la soberbia del mar, Tú domas la altivez de sus olas. You rule over the power of the sea, and you even mitigate the movement of its waves.11Tú hollaste a Rahab como a un cadáver; con el poder de tu brazo dispersaste a tus enemigos. You have humbled the arrogant one, like one who has been wounded. You have scattered your enemies with the arm of your strength.12Tuyos son los cielos y tuya es la tierra, Tú cimentaste el orbe y cuanto contiene. Yours are the heavens, and yours is the earth. You founded the whole world in all its fullness.13Tú creaste el Septentrión y el Mediodía; el Tabor y el Hermón se estremecen al Nombre tuyo. You created the north and the sea. Tabor and Hermon will exult in your name.14Tú tienes el brazo poderoso, fuerte es tu mano, sublime tu diestra. Your arm acts with power. Let your hand be strengthened, and let your right hand be exalted.15Justicia y rectitud son las bases de tu trono; la misericordia y la fidelidad van delante de Ti. Justice and judgment are the preparation of your throne. Mercy and truth will precede your face.16¡Dichoso el pueblo que conoce el alegre llamado! Caminará, oh Yahvé, a la luz de tu rostro. Blessed is the people that knows jubilation. They will walk in the light of your countenance, O Lord,17Continuamente se regocijará por tu Nombre, y saltará de exultación por tu justicia. and they will exult in your name all day long, and they will be exalted in your justice.18Porque Tú eres la gloria de su fortaleza, y por favor tuyo será exaltado nuestro poder. For you are the glory of their virtue, and in your goodness, our horn will be exalted.19Pues de Yahvé es nuestro socorro, del Santo de Israel, que es nuestro Rey. For our assumption is of the Lord, and it is of our king, the holy one of Israel.20Hablaste un día en visiones a tus santos, y dijiste: “He impuesto la corona a un héroe, he ensalzado al escogido de entre mi pueblo. Then you spoke in a vision to your holy ones, and you said: I have stationed help with the powerful one, and I have exalted the elect one from my people.21He descubierto a David, mi siervo, lo he ungido con mi óleo santo, I have found my servant David. I have anointed him with my holy oil.22para que mi mano esté con él siempre y mi brazo le dé fortaleza. For my hand will assist him, and my arm will fortify him.23No lo engañará el enemigo; ni el maligno lo humillará. The enemy will have no advantage over him, nor will the son of iniquity be positioned to harm him.24Pues Yo destrozaré delante de él a sus enemigos, y destruiré a los que le odian. And I will cut down his enemies before his face. And those who hate him, I will turn to flight.25Mi fidelidad y mi gracia están con él; y en mi Nombre será exaltado su poderío. And my truth and my mercy will be with him. And his horn will be exalted in my name.26Extenderé su mano sobre el mar, y su diestra sobre los ríos. And I will place his hand on the sea and his right hand on the rivers.27Él me invocará: “Tú eres mi Padre; Tú mi Dios y la roca, de mi salud.” He will invoke me: “You are my father, my God, and the support of my salvation.”28Y Yo lo haré primogénito; el más excelso entre los reyes de la tierra. And I will make him the first-born, preeminent before the kings of the earth.29Le guardaré mi gracia eternamente, y para él será firme mi alianza. I will preserve my mercy for him eternally, and my covenant for him faithfully.30Haré durar para siempre su descendencia, y su trono como los días de los cielos. And I will set his offspring from generation to generation, and his throne like the days of heaven.31Si sus hijos abandonaren mi Ley y no caminaren en mis preceptos, But if his sons abandon my law, and if they do not walk in my judgments,32si violaren mis disposiciones y no guardaren mis mandamientos, if they profane my justices, and if they do not keep my commandments:33castigaré con la vara su delito, y con azotes su culpa; I will visit their iniquities with a rod, and their sins with a beating.34pero no retiraré de él mi gracia, ni desmentiré mi fidelidad. But I will not scatter my mercy from him, and I will not do harm to my truth.35No violaré mi pacto, ni mudaré cuanto han dicho mis labios. And I will not profane my covenant, and I will not make void that which proceeds from my lips.36Juré una vez por mi santidad; ¿acaso quebrantaré mi palabra a David? I have sworn by my holiness one time: I will not lie to David,37Su descendencia durará eternamente, y su trono como el sol delante de Mí, his offspring will remain for eternity. And his throne will be like the sun in my sight,38y como la luna, firme para siempre, testigo fiel en el cielo. and, like the moon, it is perfected in eternity, and it is a faithful witness in heaven.39Sin embargo Tú (nos) has rechazado y echado fuera, te has irritado gravemente contra tu ungido; Yet, truly, you have rejected and despised, you have pushed away, my Christ.40has despreciado el pacto con tu siervo, profanaste su corona (echándola) a tierra. You have overthrown the covenant of your servant. You have profaned his sanctuary on earth.41Has destruido todas sus murallas, has reducido a ruinas sus fortificaciones. You have destroyed all his fences. You have made his territory dreadful.42Lo saquearon cuantos pasaron por el camino, ha venido a ser el ludibrio de sus vecinos. All who pass by the way have plundered him. He has become a disgrace to his neighbors.43Levantaste la diestra de sus adversarios, llenaste de regocijo a todos sus enemigos. You have exalted the right hand of those who oppress him. You have brought joy to all his enemies.44Le embotaste el filo de su espada, y no le sostuviste en el combate. You have diverted the help of his sword, and you have not assisted him in battle.45Apagaste su esplendor y derribaste por tierra su trono. You have torn him away from cleansing, and you have smashed his throne down to the ground.46Abreviaste los días de su juventud, lo cubriste de ignominia. You have reduced the days of his time. You have flooded him with confusion.47¿Hasta cuándo, Señor? ¿Te esconderás para siempre? ¿Arderá tu ira como el fuego? How long, O Lord? Will you turn away unto the end? Will your wrath flare up like a fire?48Recuerda lo que es la vida; ¿acaso habrías creado en vano a los hijos de los hombres? Remember what my substance is. For could you really have appointed all the sons of men in vain?49¿Qué hombre podrá sobrevivir sin ver la muerte, y sustraer su vida a las garras del sepulcro? Who is the man that will live, and yet not see death? Who will rescue his own soul from the hand of the underworld?50¿Dónde están, Señor, tus antiguas misericordias, las que a David juraste por tu fidelidad? O Lord, where are your mercies of antiquity, just as you swore to David in your truth?51Señor, acuérdate del oprobio de tus siervos: llevo yo en mi pecho las hostilidades de los gentiles, Be mindful, O Lord, of the disgrace of your servants (which I have sustained in my sinews) among many nations.52el insulto con que tus enemigos persiguen, oh Yahvé, persiguen los pasos de tu ungido. With these, your enemies have reproached you, O Lord; with these, they have reproached the commutation of your Christ.53Bendito sea el Señor eternamente. ¡Así sea! ¡Así sea! Blessed is the Lord for all eternity. Amen. Amen.
