Apocalipsis 9
1Y tocó la trompeta el quinto ángel, y vi una estrella que había caído del cielo a la tierra, y le fue dada la llave del pozo del abismo. And the fifth Angel sounded the trumpet. And I saw upon the earth, a star that had fallen from heaven, and the key to the well of the abyss was given to him.2Abrió el pozo del abismo, y subió humo del pozo como el humo de un gran horno, y a causa del humo del pozo se obscurecieron el sol y el aire. And he opened the well of the abyss. And the smoke of the well ascended, like the smoke of a great furnace. And the sun and the air were obscured by the smoke of the well.3Del humo salieron langostas sobre la tierra; y les fue dado poder, semejante al poder que tienen los escorpiones de la tierra. And locusts went forth from the smoke of the well into the earth. And power was given to them, like the power that the scorpions of the earth have.4Y se les mandó que no dañasen la hierba de la tierra, ni verdura alguna, ni árbol alguno, sino solamente a los hombres que no tuviesen el sello de Dios en la frente. And it was commanded of them that they must not harm the plants of the earth, nor anything green, nor any tree, but only those men who do not have the Seal of God upon their foreheads.5Les fue dado no matarlos, sino torturarlos por cinco meses; y su tormento era como el tormento que causa el escorpión cuando pica al hombre. And it was given to them that they would not kill them, but that they would torture them for five months. And their torture was like the torture of a scorpion, when he strikes a man.6En aquellos días los hombres buscarán la muerte, y no la hallarán; desearán morir, y la muerte huirá de ellos. And in those days, men will seek death and they will not find it. And they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.7Las langostas eran semejantes a caballos aparejados para la guerra, y sobre sus cabezas llevaban algo como coronas parecidas al oro, y sus caras eran como caras de hombres. And the likenesses of the locusts resembled horses prepared for battle. And upon their heads were something like crowns similar to gold. And their faces were like the faces of men.8Tenían cabellos como cabellos de mujer y sus dientes eran como de leones. And they had hair like the hair of women. And their teeth were like the teeth of lions.9Sus pechos eran como corazas de hierro, y el estruendo de sus alas era como el estruendo de muchos carros de caballos que corren al combate. And they had breastplates like iron breastplates. And the noise of their wings was like the noise of many running horses, rushing to battle.10Tenían colas semejantes a escorpiones, y (en ellas) aguijones; y en sus colas reside su poder de hacer daño a los hombres durante los cinco meses. And they had tails similar to scorpions. And there were stingers in their tails, and these had the power to harm men for five months.11Tienen por rey sobre ellas al ángel del abismo, cuyo nombre en hebreo es Abaddón y que lleva en griego el nombre de Apollyon. And they had over them a king, the Angel of the abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Doom; in Greek, Destroyer; in Latin, Exterminator.12Él primer ay pasó; ved que tras esto vienen aún dos ayes. One woe has gone out, but behold, there are still two woes approaching afterward.13Y tocó la trompeta el sexto ángel, y oí una voz procedente de los cuatro cuernos del altar de oro que está delante de Dios, And the sixth Angel sounded the trumpet. And I heard a lone voice from the four horns of the golden altar, which is before the eyes of God,14y decía al sexto ángel que tenía la trompeta: “Suelta a los cuatro ángeles encadenados junto al gran río Eúfrates. saying to the sixth Angel who had the trumpet: “Release the four Angels who were bound at the great river Euphrates.”15Y fueron soltados los cuatro ángeles que estaban dispuestos para la hora y el día y el mes y el año, a fin de exterminar la tercera parte de los hombres. And the four Angels were released, who had been prepared for that hour, and day, and month, and year, in order to kill one third part of men.16Y el número de las huestes de a caballo era de doscientos millones. Yo oí su número. And the number of the army of horsemen was two hundred million. For I heard their number.17En la visión miré los caballos y a sus jinetes: tenían corazas como de fuego y de jacinto y de azufre; las cabezas de los caballos eran como cabezas de leones, y de su boca salía fuego y humo y azufre. And I also saw the horses in the vision. And those who were sitting upon them had breastplates of fire and hyacinth and sulphur. And the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions. And from their mouths proceeded fire and smoke and sulphur.18De estas tres plagas murió la tercera parte de los hombres, a consecuencia del fuego y del humo y del azufre que salía de las bocas de aquellos. And one third part of men were slain by these three afflictions: by the fire and by the smoke and by the sulphur, which proceeded from their mouths.19Pues el poder de los caballos está en su boca y en sus colas; porque sus colas, semejantes a serpientes, tienen cabezas, y con ellas dañan. For the power of these horses is in their mouths and in their tails. For their tails resemble serpents, having heads; and it is with these that they cause harm.20Mas el resto de los hombres, los que no fueron muertos con estas plagas, no se arrepintieron de las obras de sus manos y no cesaron de adorar a los demonios y los ídolos de oro y de plata y de bronce y de piedra y de madera, que no pueden ver ni oír ni andar. And the rest of men, who were not slain by these afflictions, did not repent from the works of their hands, so that they would not worship demons, or idols of gold and silver and brass and stone and wood, which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk.21Ni se arrepintieron de sus homicidios, ni de sus hechicerías, ni de su fornicación, ni de sus latrocinios. And they did not repent from their murders, nor from their drugs, nor from their fornication, nor from their thefts.
