Cantar de los Cantares 3
1En mi lecho, de noche, busqué al que ama mi alma; le busqué y no le hallé. Bride: On my bed, throughout the night, I sought him whom my soul loves. I sought him, and did not find him.2Me levantaré, pues, y giraré por la ciudad, por las calles y las plazas; buscaré al que ama mi alma. Le busqué y no le hallé. I will rise up, and I will circle through the city. Through the side streets and thoroughfares, I will seek him whom my soul loves. I sought him, and did not find him.3Me encontraron los guardias que hacen la ronda por la ciudad: “¿Habéis visto al que ama mi alma?” The watchers who guard the city found me: “Have you seen him whom my soul loves?”4Apenas me había apartado de ellos, encontré al que ama mi alma. Lo así y no lo soltaré hasta introducirlo en la casa de mi madre, y en la cámara de la que me dio el ser. When I had passed by them a little, I found him whom my soul loves. I held him, and would not release him, until I would bring him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her who bore me.5Os conjuro, oh hijas de Jerusalén, por las gacelas y las ciervas del campo, que no despertéis ni inquietéis a la amada, hasta que ella quiera. Groom to Chorus: I bind you by oath, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the does and the stags of the open field, not to disturb or awaken the beloved, until she wills.6¿Qué cosa es esta que sube del desierto, como columna de humo perfumada de mirra e incienso con todos los aromas del mercader? Chorus to Groom: Who is she, who ascends through the desert, like a staff of smoke from the aromatics of myrrh, and frankincense, and every powder of the perfumer?7Mirad, es su litera, la de Salomón; sesenta valientes la rodean, de entre los héroes de Israel. Chorus to Bride: Lo, sixty strong ones, out of all the strongest in Israel, stand watch at the bed of Solomon,8Todos ellos manejan la espada, son adiestrados para el combate; todos llevan la espada ceñida, a causa de los peligros de la noche. all holding swords and well-trained in warfare, each one’s weapon upon his thigh, because of fears in the night.9De maderas del Líbano se hizo el rey Salomón un cenáculo. Bride to Chorus: King Solomon made himself a portable throne from the wood of Lebanon.10Hizo de plata sus columnas, de oro el dosel, de púrpura su asiento; su interior está recamado de amor, por las hijas de Jerusalén. He made its columns of silver, the reclining place of gold, the ascent of purple; the middle he covered well, out of charity for the daughters of Jerusalem.11Salid, oh hijas de Sión, a contemplar al rey Salomón con la corona que le tejió su madre en el día de sus desposorios, el día del gozo de su corazón. O daughters of Zion, go forth and see king Solomon with the diadem with which his mother crowned him, on the day of his espousal, on the day of the rejoicing of his heart.
