Sabiduría 6
1Más vale la sabiduría que la fuerza; y el varón prudente más que el valeroso. Wisdom is better than power, and a prudent man is better than a powerful one.2Escuchad, pues, oh reyes, y estad atentos; aprended vosotros, oh jueces de toda la tierra. Therefore, hear, O kings, and understand; learn, you judges of the ends of the earth.3Dad oídos vosotros que tenéis el gobierno de los pueblos, y os gloriáis del vasallaje de muchas naciones. Listen closely, you who hold the attention of the crowds, and who please yourselves by disturbing the nations.4Porque la potestad os la ha dado el Señor; del Altísimo tenéis esa fuerza; el cual examinará vuestras obras, y escudriñará los pensamientos. For power has been given to you from the Lord and strength from the Most High, who will examine your works and scrutinize your thoughts.5Porque siendo vosotros ministros de su reino, no juzgasteis con rectitud, ni observasteis la ley de la justicia, ni procedisteis conforme a la voluntad de Dios. For, when you were ministers of his kingdom, you did not judge correctly, nor keep the law of justice, nor walk according to the will of God.6Él se os mostrará espantosa y repentinamente; pues los que ejercen potestad sobre otros, serán juzgados con extremo rigor. Horribly and quickly he will appear to you, because he will make a severe judgment for those who are in charge.7Porque con los pequeños se usará de compasión; mas los grandes sufrirán grandes tormentos. For, to the little, great mercy is granted, but the powerful will endure powerful torment.8Que no exceptuará Dios persona alguna, ni respetará la grandeza de nadie; pues al pequeño y al grande, Él mismo los hizo, y de todos cuida igualmente; For the Lord will not exempt anyone’s character, nor will he stand in awe of anyone’s greatness, because he himself made the little and the great, and he is equally concerned for everyone.9si bien a los más grandes amenaza mayor suplicio. But a powerful torture pursues the powerful.10Por tanto, a vosotros, oh reyes, se dirigen estas mis palabras, a fin de que aprendáis la sabiduría, y no vengáis a resbalar. Therefore, O kings, these, my words, are for you, so that you may learn wisdom and not perish.11Porque los que guardan santamente las cosas santas, serán justificados; y los que habrán aprendido estas cosas, hallarán con qué defenderse. For those who have justly preserved justice will be justified, and those who have learned these things will find what to answer.12Codiciad, pues, mis mandamientos; amadlos y seréis instruidos. Therefore, desire my words, love them, and you will have instruction.13Luminosa es e inmarcesible la sabiduría; y se deja ver fácilmente de los que la aman, y hallar de los que la buscan. Wisdom is pure and never fades away, and is easily seen by those who love her and found by those who seek her.14Se anticipa a aquellos que la codician; poniéndoseles delante ella misma. She anticipates those who desire her, so that she first reveals herself to them.15Quien madrugare en busca de ella, no tendrá que fatigarse; pues la hallará sentada en su puerta. Whoever awakens early to seek her, will not labor, for he will find her sitting at his door.16El tener, pues, el pensamiento ocupado en ella, es prudencia consumada; y el que por amor de ella velare, bien presto estará en reposo. Therefore, by thinking about her, understanding is perfected, and whoever remains watchful for her, will quickly be secure.17Porque ella misma va por todas partes, buscando a los que son dignos de poseerla; y por los caminos se les presenta con agrado, y en todas las ocasiones les sale al encuentro. For she goes about seeking such as are worthy of her, and she reveals herself to them cheerfully in the ways, and meets them with all foresight.18El principio de la sabiduría es un deseo sincerísimo de instrucción. For the very true beginning of her is the desire for instruction.19Procurar instruirse es amar (la sabiduría); amarla es guardar sus leyes; y la observancia de estas leyes, es la perfecta incorrupción. Therefore, the zeal for instruction is love, and love is the keeping of her laws, and the keeping of her laws is the perfection of incorruptibility,20La incorrupción une con Dios; while incorruptibility makes us near to God.21luego el deseo de la sabiduría conduce al reino eterno. And so, the desire for wisdom leads to an everlasting kingdom.22Ahora bien, oh reyes de los pueblos, si os complacéis en los tronos y cetros, amad la sabiduría, a fin de reinar perpetuamente. If, therefore, your delight is in thrones and scepters, O kings of the people, love wisdom, so that you may reign forever;23Amad la luz de la sabiduría, todos los que estáis al frente de los pueblos. love the light of wisdom, all you who lead the peoples.24Yo os declararé qué cosa es la sabiduría, y cómo fue engendrada; no os ocultaré los misterios de Dios; sino que subiré investigando hasta su primer origen, y pondré en claro su conocimiento, sin ocultar la verdad. But what wisdom is, and how she was made, I will report, and I will not hide the mysteries of God from you, but I will investigate her from the beginning of her birth, and I will place the knowledge of her in the light, and will not pass over the truth.25No me acompañaré por cierto con el que se repudre de envidia; pues un tal no será participante de la sabiduría. Neither will I hold to the path that dwindles away with envy, because such a man will not partake in wisdom.26La muchedumbre de sabios es la felicidad del mundo; y un rey sabio es firme sostén del pueblo. For the proliferation of the wise is sanity for the world, and a wise king is the mainstay of the people.27Recibid, pues, la instrucción por medio de mis palabras, porque os será provechosa. Therefore, receive instruction by my words, and it will benefit you.
