1 Corintios 1
1Pablo, llamado a ser apóstol de Jesucristo por la voluntad de Dios, y Sóstenes, el hermano, Paul, called as an Apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God; and Sosthenes, a brother:2a la Iglesia de Dios en Corinto, a los santificados en Cristo Jesús, santos por vocación, juntamente con todos los que, en cualquier lugar, invocan el nombre de Jesucristo Señor nuestro, de ellos y de nosotros: to the Church of God which is at Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints with all who are invoking the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place of theirs and of ours.3gracia a vosotros y paz, de parte de Dios nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.4Doy gracias sin cesar a mi Dios por vosotros, a causa de la gracia de Dios que os ha sido dada en Cristo Jesús; I give thanks to my God continuously for you because of the grace of God that has been given to you in Christ Jesus.5por cuanto en todo habéis sido enriquecidos en Él, en toda palabra y en todo conocimiento, By that grace, in all things, you have become wealthy in him, in every word and in all knowledge.6en la medida en que el testimonio de Cristo ha sido confirmado en vosotros. And so, the testimony of Christ has been strengthened in you.7Por tanto no quedáis inferiores en ningún carisma, en tanto que aguardáis la revelación de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo; In this way, nothing is lacking to you in any grace, as you await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.8el cual os hará firmes hasta el fin e irreprensibles en el día de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo. And he, too, will strengthen you, even until the end, without guilt, until the day of the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ.9Fiel es Dios, por quien habéis sido llamados a la comunión de su Hijo Jesucristo Nuestro Señor. God is faithful. Through him, you have been called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.10Os ruego, pues, hermanos, por el nombre de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que habléis todos una misma cosa, y que no haya escisiones entre vosotros, sino que viváis perfectamente unidos en un mismo pensar y en un mismo sentir. And so, I beg you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that every one of you speak in the same way, and that there be no schisms among you. So may you become perfect, with the same mind and with the same judgment.11Porque me he enterado respecto de vosotros, hermanos míos, por los de Cloe, que entre vosotros hay banderías. For it has been indicated to me, about you, my brothers, by those who are with Chloes, that there are contentions among you.12Hablo así porque cada uno de vosotros dice: “Yo soy de Pablo”, “yo de Apolo”, “yo de Cefas”, “yo de Cristo”. Now I say this because each of you is saying: “Certainly, I am of Paul;” “But I am of Apollo;” “Truly, I am of Cephas;” as well as: “I am of Christ.”13¿Acaso Cristo está dividido? ¿Fue Pablo crucificado por vosotros, o fuisteis bautizados en el nombre de Pablo? Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?14Gracias doy a Dios de que a ninguno de vosotros he bautizado fuera de Crispo y Cayo; I give thanks to God that I have baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius,15para que nadie diga que fuisteis bautizados en mi nombre. lest anyone say that you have been baptized in my name.16Bauticé también, verdad es, a la familia de Estéfanas; por lo demás, no me acuerdo de haber bautizado a otro alguno. And I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Other than these, I do not recall if I baptized any others.17Porque no me envió Cristo a bautizar, sino a predicar el Evangelio, y eso no mediante sabiduría de palabras, para que no se inutilice la Cruz de Cristo. For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to evangelize: not through the wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ become empty.18La doctrina de la Cruz es, en efecto, locura para los que perecen; pero para nosotros los que somos salvados, es fuerza de Dios. For the Word of the Cross is certainly foolishness to those who are perishing. But to those who have been saved, that is, to us, it is the power of God.19Porque escrito está: “Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios, y anularé la prudencia de los prudentes”. For it has been written: “I will perish the wisdom of the wise, and I will reject the discernment of the prudent.”20¿Dónde está el sabio? ¿Dónde el escriba? ¿Dónde el disputador de este siglo? ¿No ha trocado Dios en necedad la sabiduría del mundo? Where are the wise? Where are the scribes? Where are the truth-seekers of this age? Has not God made the wisdom of this world into foolishness?21Pues en vista de que según la sabiduría de Dios el mundo por su sabiduría no conoció a Dios, plugo a Dios salvar a los que creyesen mediante la necedad de la predicación. For the world did not know God through wisdom, and so, in the wisdom of God, it pleased God to accomplish the salvation of believers, through the foolishness of our preaching.22Así, pues, los judíos piden señales y los griegos buscan sabiduría; For the Jews ask for signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom.23en tanto que nosotros predicamos un Cristo crucificado: para los judíos, escándalo; para los gentiles, insensatez; But we are preaching Christ crucified. Certainly, to the Jews, this is a scandal, and to the Gentiles, this is foolishness.24mas para los que son llamados, sean judíos o griegos, un Cristo que es poder de Dios y sabiduría de Dios. But to those who have been called, Jews as well as Greeks, the Christ is the virtue of God and the wisdom of God.25Porque la “insensatez” de Dios es más sabia que los hombres, y la debilidad de Dios es más fuerte que los hombres. For what is foolishness to God is considered wise by men, and that which is weakness to God is considered strong by men.26Mirad, por ejemplo, hermanos, la vocación vuestra: no hay (entre vosotros) muchos sabios según la carne, no muchos poderosos, no muchos nobles, So take care of your vocation, brothers. For not many are wise according to the flesh, not many are powerful, not many are noble.27sino que Dios ha escogido lo insensato del mundo para confundir a los sabios; y lo débil del mundo ha elegido Dios para confundir a los fuertes; But God has chosen the foolish of the world, so that he may confound the wise. And God has chosen the weak of the world, so that he may confound the strong.28y lo vil del mundo y lo despreciado ha escogido Dios, y aun lo que no es, para destruir lo que es; And God has chosen the ignoble and contemptible of the world, those who are nothing, so that he may reduce to nothing those who are something.29a fin de que delante de Dios no se gloríe ninguna carne. So then, nothing that is of the flesh should glory in his sight.30Por Él sois (lo que sois) en Cristo Jesús. And so, in the same way, it was written: “Whoever glories, should glory in the Lord.”
