1Exhorto, pues, a los presbíteros que están entre vosotros, yo, (su) copresbítero y testigo de los padecimientos de Cristo, como también, partícipe de la futura gloria que va a ser revelada: Therefore, I beg the elders who are among you, as one who is also an elder and a witness of the Passion of Christ, who also shares in that glory which is to be revealed in the future:2Apacentad la grey de Dios que está entre vosotros, velando no como forzados sino de buen grado, según Dios; ni por sórdido interés sino gustosamente; pasture the flock of God that is among you, providing for it, not as a requirement, but willingly, in accord with God, and not for the sake of tainted profit, but freely,3ni menos como quienes quieren ejercer dominio sobre la herencia (de Dios), sino haciéndoos modelo de la grey. not so as to dominate by means of the clerical state, but so as to be formed into a flock from the heart.4Entonces, cuando se manifieste el Príncipe de los pastores, recibiréis la corona inmarcesible de la gloria. And when the Leader of pastors will have appeared, you shall secure an unfading crown of glory.5Asimismo vosotros, jóvenes, someteos a los ancianos. Y todos, los unos para con los otros, revestíos de la humildad, porque “Dios resiste a los soberbios, pero a los humildes da gracia”. Similarly, young persons, be subject to the elders. And infuse all humility among one another, for God resists the arrogant, but to the humble he gives grace.6Humillaos por tanto bajo la poderosa mano de Dios, para que Él os ensalce a su tiempo. And so, be humbled under the powerful hand of God, so that he may exalt you in the time of visitation.7“Descargad sobre Él todas vuestras preocupaciones, porque Él mismo se preocupa de vosotros”. Cast all your cares upon him, for he takes care of you.8Sed sobrios y estad en vela: vuestro adversario el diablo ronda, como un león rugiente, buscando a quien devorar. Be sober and vigilant. For your adversary, the devil, is like a roaring lion, traveling around and seeking those whom he might devour.9Resistidle, firmes en la fe, sabiendo que los mismos padecimientos sufren vuestros hermanos en el mundo. Resist him by being strong in faith, being aware that the same passions afflict those who are your brothers in the world.10El Dios de toda gracia, que os ha llamado a su eterna gloria en Cristo, después de un breve tiempo de tribulación, Él mismo os hará aptos, firmes, fuertes e inconmovibles. But the God of all grace, who has called us to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will himself perfect, confirm, and establish us, after a brief time of suffering.11A Él sea el poder por los siglos de los siglos. Amén. To him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.12Os escribo esto brevemente por medio de Silvano, a quien creo hermano vuestro fiel, exhortándoos y testificando que la verdadera gracia de Dios es esta, en la cual os mantenéis. I have written briefly, through Sylvanus, whom I consider to be a faithful brother to you, begging and testifying that this is the true grace of God, in which you have been established.13Os saluda la (Iglesia) que está en Babilonia, partícipe de vuestra elección, y Marcos, mi hijo. The Church which is in Babylon, elect together with you, greets you, as does my son, Mark.14Saludaos unos a otros con el ósculo de caridad. Paz a todos vosotros los que vivís en Cristo. Greet one another with a holy kiss. Grace be to all of you who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
