Efesios 4

¹Os ruego, pues, yo, el prisionero en el Señor, que caminéis de una manera digna del llamamiento que se os ha hecho, And so, as a prisoner in the Lord, I beg you to walk in a manner worthy of the vocation to which you have been called:²con toda humildad de espíritu y mansedumbre, con longanimidad, sufriéndoos unos a otros con caridad, with all humility and meekness, with patience, supporting one another in charity.³esforzándoos por guardar la unidad del Espíritu en el vínculo de la paz. Be anxious to preserve the unity of the Spirit within the bonds of peace.⁴Uno es el cuerpo y uno el Espíritu, y así también una la esperanza de la vocación a que habéis sido llamados; One body and one Spirit: to this you have been called by the one hope of your calling:⁵uno el Señor, una la fe, uno el bautismo, one Lord, one faith, one baptism,⁶uno el Dios y Padre de todos, el cual es sobre todo, en todo y en todos. one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.⁷Pero a cada uno de nosotros le ha sido dada la gracia en la medida del don de Cristo. Yet to each one of us there has been given grace according to the measure allotted by Christ.⁸Por esto dice: “Subiendo hacia lo alto llevó a cautivos consigo, y dio dones a los hombres”. Because of this, he says: “Ascending on high, he took captivity itself captive; he gave gifts to men.”⁹Eso de subir, ¿qué significa sino que (antes) bajó a lo que está debajo de la tierra? Now that he has ascended, what is left except for him also to descend, first to the lower parts of the earth?¹⁰El que bajó es el mismo que también subió por encima de todos los cielos, para complementarlo todo. He who descended is the same one who also ascended above all the heavens, so that he might fulfill everything.¹¹Y Él a unos constituyó apóstoles, y a otros profetas, y a otros evangelistas, y a otros pastores y doctores, And the same one granted that some would be Apostles, and some Prophets, yet truly others evangelists, and others pastors and teachers,¹²a fin de perfeccionar a los santos para la obra del ministerio, para la edificación del cuerpo de Cristo, for the sake of the perfection of the saints, by the work of the ministry, in the edification of the body of Christ,¹³hasta que todos lleguemos a la unidad de la fe y del (pleno) conocimiento del Hijo de Dios, al estado de varón perfecto, alcanzando la estatura propia del Cristo total, until we all meet in the unity of faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as a perfect man, in the measure of the age of the fullness of Christ.¹⁴para que ya no seamos niños fluctuantes y llevados a la deriva por todo viento de doctrina, al antojo de la humana malicia, de la astucia que conduce engañosamente al error, So may we then no longer be little children, disturbed and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the wickedness of men, and by the craftiness which deceives unto error.¹⁵sino que, andando en la verdad por el amor, en todo crezcamos hacia adentro de Aquel que es la cabeza, Cristo. Instead, acting according to truth in charity, we should increase in everything, in him who is the head, Christ himself.¹⁶De Él todo el cuerpo, bien trabado y ligado entre sí por todas las coyunturas que se ayudan mutuamente según la actividad propia de cada miembro, recibe su crecimiento para ir edificándose en el amor. For in him, the whole body is joined closely together, by every underlying joint, through the function allotted to each part, bringing improvement to the body, toward its edification in charity.¹⁷Esto, pues, digo y testifico en el Señor, que ya no andéis como andan los gentiles, conforme a la vanidad de su propio sentir, And so, I say this, and I testify in the Lord: that from now on you should walk, not as the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind,¹⁸pues tienen entenebrecido el entendimiento, enajenados de la vida de Dios por la ignorancia que los domina a causa del endurecimiento de su corazón, having their intellect obscured, being alienated from the life of God, through the ignorance that is within them, because of the blindness of their hearts.¹⁹y habiéndose hecho insensibles (espiritualmente) se entregaron a la lascivia, para obrar con avidez toda suerte de impurezas. Such as these, despairing, have given themselves over to sexual immorality, carrying out every impurity with rapacity.²⁰Pero no es así como vosotros habéis aprendido a Cristo, But this is not what you have learned in Christ.²¹si es que habéis oído hablar de Él y si de veras se os ha instruido en Él conforme a la verdad que está en Jesús, a saber: For certainly, you have listened to him, and you have been instructed in him, according to the truth that is in Jesus:²²que dejando vuestra pasada manera de vivir os desnudéis del hombre viejo, que se corrompe al seguir los deseos del error; to set aside your earlier behavior, the former man, who was corrupted, by means of desire, unto error,²³os renovéis en el espíritu de vuestra mente, and so be renewed in the spirit of your mind,²⁴y os vistáis del hombre nuevo, creado según Dios en la justicia y santidad de la verdad. and so put on the new man, who, in accord with God, is created in justice and in the holiness of truth.²⁵Por esto, despojándoos de la mentira, hablad verdad cada uno con su prójimo, pues somos miembros unos respecto de otros. Because of this, setting aside lying, speak the truth, each one with his neighbor. For we are all part of one another.²⁶Airaos, sí, mas no pequéis; no se ponga el sol sobre vuestra ira; “Be angry, but do not be willing to sin.” Do not let the sun set over your anger.²⁷no deis lugar al diablo. Provide no place for the devil.²⁸El que hurtaba, no hurte más, antes bien trabaje obrando con sus manos lo bueno, para que pueda aun partir con el necesitado. Whoever was stealing, let him now not steal, but rather let him labor, working with his hands, doing what is good, so that he may have something to distribute to those who suffer need.²⁹No salga de vuestra boca ninguna palabra viciosa, sino la que sirva para edificación, de modo que comunique gracia a los que oyen. Let no evil words proceed from your mouth, but only what is good, toward the edification of faith, so as to bestow grace upon those who listen.³⁰Y no contristéis al Espíritu Santo de Dios, con el cual habéis sido sellados para el día de la redención. And do not be willing to grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you have been sealed, unto the day of redemption.³¹Toda amargura, enojo, ira, gritería y blasfemia destiérrese de vosotros, y también toda malicia. Let all bitterness and anger and indignation and outcry and blasphemy be taken away from you, along with all malice.³²Sed benignos unos para con otros, compasivos, perdonándoos mutuamente de la misma manera que Dios os ha perdonado a vosotros en Cristo. And be kind and merciful to one another, forgiving one another, just as God has forgiven you in Christ.
