Efesios 5

¹Imitad entonces a Dios, pues que sois sus, hijos amados; Therefore, as most beloved sons, be imitators of God.²y vivid en amor así como Cristo os amó, y se entregó por nosotros como oblación y víctima a Dios cual (incienso de) olor suavísimo. And walk in love, just as Christ also loved us and delivered himself for us, as an oblation and a sacrifice to God, with a fragrance of sweetness.³Fornicación y cualquier impureza o avaricia, ni siquiera se nombre entre vosotros, como conviene a santos; But let not any kind of fornication, or impurity, or rapacity so much as be named among you, just as is worthy of the saints,⁴ni torpeza, ni vana palabrería, ni bufonerías, cosas que no convienen, antes bien acciones de gracia. nor any indecent, or foolish, or abusive talk, for this is without purpose; but instead, give thanks.⁵Porque tened bien entendido que ningún fornicario, impuro o avaro, que es lo mismo que idólatra, tiene parte en el reino de Cristo y de Dios. For know and understand this: no one who is a fornicator, or lustful, or rapacious (for these are a kind of service to idols) holds an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.⁶Nadie os engañe con vanas palabras, pues por estas cosas descarga la ira de Dios sobre los hijos de la desobediencia. Let no one seduce you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God was sent upon the sons of unbelief.⁷No os hagáis, pues, copartícipes de ellos. Therefore, do not choose to become participants with them.⁸Porque antes erais tinieblas, ahora sois luz en el Señor. Andad, pues, como hijos de la luz — For you were darkness, in times past, but now you are light, in the Lord. So then, walk as sons of the light.⁹el fruto de la luz consiste en toda bondad y justicia y verdad— For the fruit of the light is in all goodness and justice and truth,¹⁰aprendiendo por experiencia que es lo que agrada al Señor; affirming what is well-pleasing to God.¹¹y no toméis parte con ellos en las obras infructuosas de las tinieblas, antes bien manifestad abiertamente vuestra reprobación; And so, have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead, refute them.¹²porque si bien da vergüenza hasta el nombrar las cosas que ellos hacen en secreto, For the things that are done by them in secret are shameful, even to mention.¹³sin embargo todas las cosas, una vez condenadas, son descubiertas por la luz, y todo lo que es manifiesto es luz. But all things that are disputed are made manifest by the light. For all that is made manifest is light.¹⁴Por eso dice: “Despierta tú que duermes, y levántate de entre los muertos, y Cristo te iluminará”. Because of this, it is said: “You who are sleeping: awaken, and rise up from the dead, and so shall the Christ enlighten you.”¹⁵Mirad, pues, con gran cautela cómo andáis; no como necios, sino como sabios, And so, brothers, see to it that you walk cautiously, not like the foolish,¹⁶aprovechando bien el tiempo, porque los días son malos. but like the wise: atoning for this age, because this is an evil time.¹⁷Por lo tanto, no os hagáis los desentendidos, sino entended cuál sea la voluntad del Señor. For this reason, do not choose to be imprudent. Instead, understand what is the will of God.¹⁸Y no os embriaguéis con vino, en el cual hay lujuria, sino llenaos en el Espíritu, And do not choose to be inebriated by wine, for this is self-indulgence. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,¹⁹entreteniéndoos entre vosotros con salmos, himnos y cánticos espirituales, cantando y alabando de todo corazón al Señor, speaking among yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual canticles, singing and reciting psalms to the Lord in your hearts,²⁰dando gracias siempre y por todo al Dios y Padre en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, giving thanks always for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God the Father.²¹sujetándoos los unos a los otros en el santo temor de Cristo. Be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.²²Las mujeres sujétense a sus maridos como al Señor, Wives should be submissive to their husbands, as to the Lord.²³porque el varón es cabeza de la mujer, como Cristo cabeza de la Iglesia, salvador de su cuerpo. For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the Church. He is the Savior of his body.²⁴Así como la Iglesia está sujeta a Cristo, así también las mujeres lo han de estar a sus maridos en todo. Therefore, just as the Church is subject to Christ, so also should wives be subject to their husbands in all things.²⁵Maridos, amad a vuestras mujeres, como Cristo amó a la Iglesia y se entregó Él mismo por ella, Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the Church and handed himself over for her,²⁶para santificarla, purificándola con la palabra en el baño del agua, so that he might sanctify her, washing her clean by water and the Word of life,²⁷a fin de presentarla delante de Sí mismo como Iglesia gloriosa, sin mancha, ni arruga, ni nada semejante, sino santa e inmaculada. so that he might offer her to himself as a glorious Church, not having any spot or wrinkle or any such thing, so that she would be holy and immaculate.²⁸Así también los varones deben amar a sus mujeres como a su propio cuerpo. El que ama a su mujer, a sí mismo se ama. So, too, husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.²⁹Porque nadie jamás tuvo odio a su propia carne, sino que la sustenta y regala, como también Cristo a la Iglesia, For no man has ever hated his own flesh, but instead he nourishes and cherishes it, as Christ also does to the Church.³⁰puesto que somos miembros de su cuerpo. For we are a part of his body, of his flesh and of his bones.³¹“A causa de esto dejará el hombre a su padre y a su madre, y se adherirá a su mujer, y los dos serán una carne”. “For this reason, a man shall leave behind his father and mother, and he shall cling to his wife; and the two shall be as one flesh.”³²Este misterio es grande; mas yo lo digo en orden a Cristo y a la Iglesia. This is a great Sacrament. And I am speaking in Christ and in the Church.³³Con todo, también cada uno de vosotros ame a su mujer como a sí mismo; y la mujer a su vez reverencie al marido. Yet truly, each and every one of you should love his wife as himself. And a wife should fear her husband.
