Gálatas 3
1¡Oh, insensatos gálatas! ¿cómo ha podido nadie fascinaros a vosotros, ante cuyos ojos fue presentado Jesucristo clavado en una cruz? O senseless Galatians, who has so fascinated you that you would not obey the truth, even though Jesus Christ has been presented before your eyes, crucified among you?2Quisiera saber de vosotros esto solo: si recibisteis el Espíritu por obra de la Ley o por la palabra de la fe. I wish to know only this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?3¿Tan insensatos sois que habiendo comenzado por Espíritu, acabáis ahora en carne? Are you so foolish that, though you began with the Spirit, you would now end with the flesh?4¿Valía la pena padecer tanto si todo fue en vano? Have you been suffering so much without a reason? If so, then it is in vain.5Aquel que os suministra el Espíritu y obra milagros en vosotros ¿lo hace por las obras de la Ley o por la palabra de la fe? Therefore, does he who distributes the Spirit to you, and who works miracles among you, act by the works of the law, or by the hearing of the faith?6Porque (está escrito): “Abrahán creyó a Dios, y le fue imputado a justicia”. It is just as it was written: “Abraham believed God, and it was reputed to him unto justice.”7Sabed, pues, que los que viven de la fe, esos son hijos de Abrahán. Therefore, know that those who are of faith, these are the sons of Abraham.8Y la Escritura, previendo que Dios justifica a los gentiles por la fe, anunció de antemano a Abrahán la buena nueva: “En ti serán bendecidas todas las naciones”. Thus Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, foretold to Abraham: “All nations shall be blessed in you.”9De modo que, junto con el creyente Abrahán, son bendecidos los que creen. And so, those who are of faith shall be blessed with faithful Abraham.10Porque cuantos vivan de las obras de la Ley, están sujetos a la maldición; pues escrito está: “Maldito todo aquel que no persevera en todo lo que está escrito en el Libro de la Ley para cumplirlo”. For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it has been written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all the things that have been written in the book of the Law, so as to do them.”11Por lo demás, es manifiesto que por la Ley nadie se justifica ante Dios, porque “el justo vivirá de fe”; And, since in the law no one is justified with God, this is manifest: “For the just man lives by faith.”12en tanto que la Ley no viene de la fe, sino que: “El que hiciere estas cosas, vivirá por ellas”. But the law is not of faith; instead, “he who does these things shall live by them.”13Cristo, empero, nos redimió de la maldición de la Ley, haciéndose por nosotros maldición, porque escrito está: “Maldito sea todo el que pende del madero”, Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, since he became a curse for us. For it is written: “Cursed is anyone who hangs from a tree.”14para que en Cristo Jesús alcanzase a los gentiles la bendición de Abrahán, y por medio de la fe recibiésemos el Espíritu prometido. This was so that the blessing of Abraham might reach the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, in order that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.15Hermanos, voy a hablaros al modo humano: Un testamento, a pesar de ser obra de hombre, una vez ratificado nadie puede anularlo, ni hacerle adición. Brothers (I speak according to man), if a man’s testament has been confirmed, no one would reject it or add to it.16Ahora bien, las promesas fueron dadas a Abrahán y a su descendiente. No dice: “y a los descendientes” como si se tratase de muchos, sino como de uno: “y a tu Descendiente”, el cual es Cristo. The promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. He did not say, “and to descendents,” as if to many, but instead, as if to one, he said, “and to your offspring,” who is Christ.17Digo, pues, esto: “Un testamento ratificado antes por Dios, no puede ser anulado por la Ley dada cuatrocientos treinta años después, de manera que deje sin efecto la promesa. But I say this: the testament confirmed by God, which, after four hundred and thirty years became the Law, does not nullify, so as to make the promise empty.18Porque si la herencia es por Ley, ya no es por promesa. Y sin embargo, Dios se la dio gratuitamente por promesa”. For if the inheritance is of the law, then it is no longer of the promise. But God bestowed it to Abraham through the promise.19Entonces ¿para qué la Ley? Fue añadida a causa de las transgresiones, hasta que viniese el Descendiente a quien fue hecha la promesa; y fue promulgada por ángeles por mano de un mediador. Why, then, was there a law? It was established because of transgressions, until the offspring would arrive, to whom he made the promise, ordained by Angels through the hand of a mediator.20Ahora bien, no hay mediador de uno solo, y Dios es uno solo. Now a mediator is not of one, yet God is one.21Entonces ¿la Ley está en contra de las promesas de Dios? De ninguna manera. Porque si se hubiera dado una Ley capaz de vivificar, realmente la justicia procedería de la Ley. So then, was the law contrary to the promises of God? Let it not be so! For if a law had been given, which was able to give life, truly justice would be of the law.22Pero la Escritura lo ha encerrado todo bajo el pecado, a fin de que la promesa, que es por la fe en Jesucristo, fuese dada a los que creyesen. But Scripture has enclosed everything under sin, so that the promise, by the faith of Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.23Mas antes de venir la fe, estábamos bajo la custodia de la Ley, encerrados para la fe que había de ser revelada. But before the faith arrived, we were preserved by being enclosed under the law, unto that faith which was to be revealed.24De manera que la Ley fue nuestro ayo para conducirnos a Cristo, a fin de que seamos justificados por la fe. And so the law was our guardian in Christ, in order that we might be justified by faith.25Mas venida la fe, ya no estamos bajo el ayo, But now that faith has arrived, we are no longer under a guardian.26por cuanto todos sois hijos de Dios por la fe en Cristo Jesús. For you are all sons of God, through the faith which is in Christ Jesus.27Pues todos los que habéis sido bautizados en Cristo estáis vestidos de Cristo. For as many of you as have been baptized in Christ have become clothed with Christ.28No hay ya judío ni griego, no hay esclavo ni libre, no hay varón y mujer; porque todos vosotros sois uno solo en Cristo Jesús. There is neither Jew nor Greek; there is neither servant nor free; there is neither male nor female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.29Y siendo vosotros de Cristo, sois por tanto descendientes de Abrahán, herederos según la promesa. And if you are Christ’s, then are you the offspring of Abraham, heirs according to the promise.
