Juan 13
1Antes de la fiesta de Pascua, sabiendo Jesús que había llegado su hora para que pasase de este mundo al Padre, como amaba a los suyos, los que estaban en el mundo, los amó hasta el fin. Before the feast day of the Passover, Jesus knew that the hour was approaching when he would pass from this world to the Father. And since he had always loved his own who were in the world, he loved them unto the end.2Y mientras cenaban, cuando el diablo había ya puesto en el corazón de Judas, el Iscariote, hijo de Simón, el entregarlo, And when the meal had taken place, when the devil had now put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him,3sabiendo que su Padre todo se lo había dado a Él en las manos, que había venido de Dios y que a Dios volvía. knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands and that he came from God and was going to God,4se levantó de la mesa, se quitó sus vestidos, y se ciñó un lienzo. he rose up from the meal, and he set aside his vestments, and when he had received a towel, he wrapped it around himself.5Luego, habiendo echado agua en un lebrillo, se puso a lavar los pies de sus discípulos y a enjugarlos con el lienzo con que estaba ceñido. Next he put water into a shallow bowl, and he began to wash the feet of the disciples and to wipe them with the towel with which he was wrapped.6Llegando a Simón Pedro, este le dijo: “Señor, ¿Tú lavarme a mí los pies?” And then he came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to him, “Lord, would you wash my feet?”7Jesús le respondió: “Lo que Yo hago, no puedes comprenderlo ahora, pero lo comprenderás después. Jesus responded and said to him: “What I am doing, you do not now understand. But you shall understand it afterward.”8Pedro le dijo: “No, jamás me lavarás Tú los pies”. Jesús le respondió. “Si Yo no te lavo, no tendrás nada de común conmigo”. Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you will have no place with me.”9Simón Pedro le dijo: “Entonces, Señor, no solamente los pies, sino también las manos y la cabeza”. Simon Peter said to him, “Then Lord, not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!”10Jesús le dijo: “Quien está bañado, no necesita lavarse [más que los pies], porque está todo limpio. Y vosotros estáis limpios, pero no todos”. Jesus said to him: “He who is washed need only wash his feet, and then he will be entirely clean. And you are clean, but not all.”11Él sabía, en efecto, quién lo iba a entregar; por eso dijo: “No todos estáis limpios”. For he knew which one would betray him. For this reason, he said, “You are not all clean.”12Después de lavarles los pies, tomó sus vestidos, se puso de nuevo a la mesa y les dijo: “¿Comprendéis lo que os he hecho? And so, after he washed their feet and received his vestments, when he had sat down at table again, he said to them: “Do you know what I have done for you?13Vosotros me decís: «Maestro» y «Señor», y decís bien, porque lo soy. You call me Teacher and Lord, and you speak well: for so I am.14Si, pues, Yo, el Señor y el Maestro, os he lavado los pies, vosotros también debéis unos a otros lavaros los pies, Therefore, if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash the feet of one another.15porque os he dado el ejemplo, para que hagáis como Yo os he hecho. For I have given you an example, so that just as I have done for you, so also should you do.16En verdad, en verdad, os digo, no es el siervo más grande que su Señor ni el enviado mayor que quien lo envía. Amen, amen, I say to you, the servant is not greater than his Lord, and the apostle is not greater than he who sent him.17Sabiendo esto, seréis dichosos al practicarlo. If you understand this, you shall be blessed if you will do it.18No hablo de vosotros todos; Yo sé a quiénes escogí; sino para que se cumpla la Escritura: «El que come mi pan, ha levantado contra Mí su calcañar». I am not speaking about all of you. I know those whom I have chosen. But this is so that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with me shall lift up his heel against me.’19Desde ahora os lo digo, antes que suceda, a fin de que, cuando haya sucedido, creáis que soy Yo. And I tell you this now, before it happens, so that when it has happened, you may believe that I am.20En verdad, en verdad, os digo, quien recibe al que Yo enviare, a Mí me recibe; y quien me recibe a Mí, recibe al que me envió”. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives anyone whom I send, receives me. And whoever receives me, receives him who sent me.”21Habiendo dicho esto, Jesús se turbó en su espíritu y manifestó abiertamente: “En verdad, en verdad, os digo, uno de vosotros me entregará”. When Jesus had said these things, he was troubled in spirit. And he bore witness by saying: “Amen, amen, I say to you, that one among you shall betray me.”22Los discípulos se miraban unos a otros, no sabiendo de quién hablaba. Therefore, the disciples looked around at one another, uncertain about whom he spoke.23Uno de sus discípulos, aquel a quien Jesús amaba, estaba recostado a la mesa en el seno de Jesús. And leaning against the bosom of Jesus was one of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved.24Simón Pedro dijo, pues, por señas a ese: “Di, quién es aquel de quien habla?” Therefore, Simon Peter motioned to this one and said to him, “Who is it that he is speaking about?”25Y él, reclinándose así sobre el pecho de Jesús, le preguntó: “Señor, ¿quién es?” And so, leaning against the chest of Jesus, he said to him, “Lord, who is it?”26Jesús le respondió: “Es aquel a quien daré el bocado, que voy a mojar”. Y mojando un bocado, lo tomó y se lo dio a Judas Iscariote, hijo de Simón. Jesus responded, “It is he to whom I shall extend the dipped bread.” And when he had dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon.27Y tras el bocado, en ese momento, entró en él Satanás. Jesús le dijo, pues: “Lo que haces, hazlo más pronto”. And after the morsel, Satan entered into him. And Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.”28Mas ninguno de los que estaban a la mesa entendió a qué propósito le dijo esto. Now none of those sitting at table knew why he had said this to him.29Como Judas tenía la bolsa, algunos pensaron que Jesús le decía: “Compra lo que nos hace falta para la fiesta”, o que diese algo a los pobres. For some were thinking that, because Judas held the purse, that Jesus had told him, “Buy those things which are needed by us for the feast day,” or that he might give something to the needy.30En seguida que tomó el bocado, salió. Era de noche. Therefore, having accepted the morsel, he went out immediately. And it was night.31Cuando hubo salido, dijo Jesús: “Ahora el Hijo del hombre ha sido glorificado, y Dios glorificado en Él. Then, when he had gone out, Jesus said: “Now the Son of man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him.32Si Dios ha sido glorificado en Él, Dios también lo glorificará en Sí mismo, y lo glorificará muy pronto. If God has been glorified in him, then God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him without delay.33Hijitos míos, ya no estaré sino poco tiempo con vosotros. Me buscaréis, y, como dije a los judíos, también lo digo a vosotros ahora: “Adonde Yo voy, vosotros no podéis venir”. Little sons, for a brief while, I am with you. You shall seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you are not able to go,’ so also I say to you now.34Os doy un mandamiento nuevo: que os améis unos a otros: para que, así como Yo os he amado, vosotros también os améis unos a otros. I give you a new commandment: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, so also must you love one another.35En esto reconocerán todos que sois discípulos míos, si tenéis amor unos para otros”. By this, all shall recognize that you are my disciples: if you will have love for one another.”36Simón Pedro le dijo: “Señor, ¿adónde vas?” Jesús le respondió: “Adonde Yo voy, tú no puedes seguirme ahora, pero más tarde me seguirás”. Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus responded: “Where I am going, you are not able to follow me now. But you shall follow afterward.”37Pedro le dijo: “¿Por qué no puedo seguirte ahora? Yo daré mi vida por Ti”. Peter said to him: “Why am I unable to follow you now? I will lay down my life for you!”38Respondió Jesús: “¿Tú darás tu vida por Mí?” En verdad, en verdad, te digo, no cantará el gallo hasta que tú me hayas negado tres veces”. Jesus answered him: “You will lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you, the rooster will not crow, until you deny me three times.”
