Job 24
1“¿Por qué el Todopoderoso no fija tiempos (para el juicio)? ¿y por qué los que le conocen no saben el día fijado por Él? The times are not hidden from the Almighty; even those who know him, do not know his days.2Hay quienes remueven mojones, roban rebaños y los apacientan; Some have crossed the boundaries, plundered the flocks, and given them pasture.3se llevan el asno de los huérfanos, toman en prenda el buey de la viuda; They have driven away the donkey of orphans, and have taken the cow from the widow as collateral.4no dejan pasar a los pobres por el camino, y todos los humildes del país se esconden. They have undermined the way of the poor, and have pressed together the meek of the earth.5Mira cómo estos salen a su trabajo como los asnos monteses del desierto, buscando una presa hasta la tarde, sin hallar alimento para sus hijos. Others, like wild asses in the desert, go forth to their work; by watching for prey, they obtain bread for their children.6En el campo cortan el trigo (ajeno), y vendimian la viña del inicuo. They reap a field that is not their own, and they harvest a vineyard that they have taken by force.7Pasan la noche desnudos, por falta de ropa, no tienen abrigo contra el frío. They send men away naked, having taken the clothing of those who have no covering in the cold;8Mojados con las lluvias de las montañas se acurrucan contra las peñas, porque no tienen donde abrigarse. these are wet with the mountain rain, and, having no covering, they embrace the rocks.9(Y hay opresores que) arrancan al huérfano del pecho, y toman en prenda la ropa de los pobres, They have used violence to deprive orphans, and they have robbed the poor common people.10que andan desnudos sin vestidos, cargan hambrientos con las gavillas; From the naked and those who do not have enough clothing, and from the hungry, they have taken away sheaves of grain.11exprimen el aceite entre sus muros, y sedientos pisan sus lagares. They take their midday rest among the stockpiles of those who, though they have trodden the winepresses, suffer thirst.12Desde la ciudad se oyen gemidos y clama el alma de los muertos; pero Dios no atiende su oración. In the cities, they caused the men to groan and the spirit of the wounded to cry out, and so God does not allow this to go unpunished.13Y hay quienes aborrecen la luz; no conocen sus caminos, ni quieren atenerse a sus senderos. They have been rebellious against the light; they have not known his ways, nor have they returned by his paths.14Al alba se levanta el homicida para matar al desvalido y al pobre, y en la oscuridad sale como ladrón. The killer of men rises at first light; he executes the destitute and the poor, but, in truth, he is like a thief in the night.15Aguarda la noche el ojo del adúltero, diciendo: «No me verá ojo alguno» y se emboza la cara. The eye of the adulterer waits for darkness, saying, “No eye will see me,” and he covers his face.16Otros de noche fuerzan las casas, y de día se esconden, pues no quieren ver la luz. He passes through houses in the nighttime, just as they had agreed among themselves in the daytime; and they are ignorant of the light.17Para todos ellos el alba es sombra de muerte; más los terrores de la noche les son familiares; If sunrise should suddenly appear, it is treated by them like the shadow of death; and they walk in darkness, as if in light.18(huyen) veloces sobre la superficie de las aguas. ¡Maldita su prole sobre la tierra! ¡No ande por el camino de sus viñas! He is nimble on the surface of water. His place on land is to be accursed. May he not walk by way of the vineyards.19Como la sequía y el calor absorben las aguas de la nieve, así (engulle) el scheol al pecador. May he cross from the snowy waters to excessive heat, and his sin, all the way to hell.20Se olvida de él el seno materno, gusanos le comen como dulce manjar, no quedará memoria de su nombre. Como árbol será deshecha la maldad. Let mercy forget him. His charm is worms. Let him not be remembered, but instead be broken like an unfruitful tree.21Porque alimentaba a la estéril, que no tenía hijos, y no hacía bien a la viuda. For he has fed on the barren, who does not bear fruit, and he has not done good to the widow.22Pero (Dios) con su fuerza derriba a los poderosos; se levanta, y ninguno está seguro de su vida. He has pulled down the strong by his strength, and, when he stands up, he will not have trust in his life.23Los deja vivir en seguridad y confianza, pero sus ojos velan sobre los caminos de ellos. God has given him a place for repentance, and he abuses it with arrogance, but his eyes are upon his ways.24Se ven ensalzados por un poco, y luego desaparecen, son derribados y cosechados como todos los hombres; son segados como espigas del trigal. They are lifted up for a little while, but they will not continue, and they will be brought low, just like all things, and they will be taken away, and, like the tops of the ears of grain, they will be crushed.25Si no es así, ¿quién me desmentirá y declarará nula mi palabra?” But, if this is not so, who is able to prove to me that I have lied and to place my words before God?
