Job 32
1Desistieron aquellos tres hombres de responder a Job; porque este estaba convencido de su inocencia. But these three men ceased to answer Job, because he considered himself justified.2Entonces montó en cólera Eliú, hijo de Baraquel bucita, de la familia de Ram. Montó en cólera contra Job, porque pretendía ser más justo que Dios. And Eliu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram, was angry and indignant. But he was angry against Job because he described himself to be just in the presence of God.3Se irritó también contra sus tres amigos, por cuanto no habían hallado qué contestar a Job, y con todo lo condenaban. Moreover, he was indignant with his friends because they had not found a reasonable response, except in so far as they condemned Job.4Siendo ellos de mayor edad que él, Eliú había tardado en contestar a Job. Therefore, Eliu waited while Job was talking, for these were his elders that were speaking.5Mas cuando vio que no había más respuesta en la boca de aquellos tres hombres, se indignó sobremanera. Tomó Eliú, hijo de Baraquel, bucita, la palabra y dijo: But when he saw that these three were not able to respond, he was extremely angry.6“Siendo yo joven, y vosotros ancianos, tuve miedo, y no me atreví a manifestar mi parecer. And so Eliu the son of Barachel the Buzite responded by saying: I am younger in years, and you are more ancient; therefore, I kept my head low, for I was afraid to reveal to you my opinion.7Yo me decía: Los días han de hablar, y en los muchos años se dará a conocer la sabiduría. For I had hoped that greater age would speak, and that a multitude of years would teach wisdom.8Pero hay espíritu que reside en el hombre; es el soplo del Todopoderoso el que les da la inteligencia. But I see now that there is only breath in men, and that it is the inspiration of the Almighty that gives understanding.9No es lo mismo ser viejo que sabio, no son (siempre) los ancianos los que entienden de justicia. The wise are not the aged, nor do the elders understand judgment.10Por eso dije: Escuchadme; quiero también yo manifestar mi parecer. Therefore, I will speak. Listen to me, and so I will show you my wisdom.11He aquí que he esperado mientras hablabais, di oídos a vuestros razonamientos hasta el fin de vuestra disputa. For I have endured your words; I have paid attention to your deliberations, while you were being argumentative with words.12Sí, os he prestado atención, más ninguno ha convencido a Job; ninguno de vosotros sabe responder a sus palabras. And as long as I supposed that you were saying something, I considered; but now I see that there is none of you that is able to argue with Job and to respond to his words.13No digáis, pues: «Hemos hallado la sabiduría; es Dios quien le castiga, y no hombre alguno.» So that you will not say, “We have found wisdom,” God has thrown him down, not man.14No contra mí ha dirigido él sus palabras; y yo no voy a contestarle con vuestros argumentos. He has said nothing to me, and I will not respond to him according to your words.15Desconcertados ya no responden nada, faltándoles otras palabras. Then they were filled with dread, and so they no longer responded, and they withdrew from their speechmaking.16He esperado hasta que se callasen, hasta que quedasen atascados sin poder contestar. Therefore, because I have waited and they have not been speaking, for they stood firm and did not respond at all,17Comenzaré yo a hablar, manifestaré por mi parte mi saber. I also will answer in my turn, and I will reveal my knowledge.18Pues lleno estoy de palabras, me aprieta el espíritu en mi interior. For I am full of words, and the feeling in my gut inspires me.19Mi pecho es como vino encerrado, cual odre nuevo pronto a reventar. Yes, my stomach is like fermenting wine without a vent, which bursts the new containers.20Hablaré para desahogarme; abriré mis labios y responderé. I should speak, but I will also breathe a little; I will open my lips, and I will answer.21No haré acepción de personas, no adularé a ningún mortal. I will not esteem the reputation of a man, and I will not equate God with man.22Pues no sé adular; (si lo hiciera), dentro de poco me llevaría mi Creador.” For I do not know how long I will continue, and whether, after a while, my Maker might take me away.
