Job 34
1Tomó de nuevo la palabra Eliú y dijo: After proclaiming these things, Eliu now had this to say:2“Oíd, oh sabios, mis palabras; hombres prudentes, prestadme oído; May the wise hear my words, and may the educated listen to me.3porque el oído prueba las palabras, como el paladar los manjares. For the ear examines words, and the mouth discerns foods by the taste.4Procuremos elegirnos lo justo, conozcamos lo bueno en medio nuestro. Let us choose judgment for ourselves, and let us consider among ourselves what is best.5Job dice: «Yo soy justo, pero Dios no quiere hacerme justicia; For Job has said: “I am just, yet God has subverted my judgment.6al sostener mi derecho paso por mentiroso; incurable es mi llaga, sin que haya en mi pecado.» For, within my judgment, there is a lie: my vehement barbs are without any sin.”7¿Qué hombre hay semejante a Job, que se bebe las blasfemias como agua, What man is there that is like Job, who drinks up derision as if it were water,8que va en compañía con los obradores de iniquidad, y anda con los hombres perversos? who accompanies those who work iniquity, and who walks with impious men?9Pues dice: «No saca ningún provecho el que procura agradar a Dios.» For he has said, “Man will not please God, even if he should travel with him.”10Oídme, por tanto, hombres sensatos: ¡Lejos de Dios la maldad, lejos del Todopoderoso la injusticia! Therefore, prudent men, hear me: impiety is far from God, and iniquity is far from the Almighty.11Él da a las obras del hombre su pago, retribuye según la conducta de cada uno. For he will restore to man his works, and according to the ways of each, he will repay them.12Es imposible que Dios haga maldad; no viola el Omnipotente la justicia. For truly, God will not condemn in vain, nor will the Almighty repudiate judgment.13¿Quién le puso sobre la tierra? ¿Quién le ha confiado el universo? What other is established over the earth? Or whom has he placed over the world, which he made?14Si Él mirase al hombre y retirara hacia sí su espíritu y su soplo, But, if he directs his heart towards him, he will draw his spirit and breath to himself.15de golpe moriría toda carne, y el hombre volvería al polvo. All flesh will fail together, and man will return to ashes.16Si tienes entendimiento, escucha esto, atiende a la voz de mis palabras. Therefore, if you have understanding, hear what is said, and heed the sound of my eloquence.17¿Acaso puede gobernar un enemigo de la justicia? ¿Pretendes tú por ventura condenar al Justo poderoso? Is he that does not love judgment able to be corrected? And how can you so greatly condemn him who is just?18A aquel que dice a un rey: «¡Malvado!» y a los nobles: «¡Perversos!» He says to the king, “You are an apostate.” He calls commanders impious.19A aquel que no prefiere la persona de los grandes, ni mira al rico más que al pobre, porque todos son obra de sus manos. He does not accept the reputation of leaders; nor does he recognize the tyrant as he contends against the poor. For all are the work of his hands.20De repente mueren, en medio de la noche; pueblos enteros son sacudidos y desaparecen; son quitados los poderosos, sin fuerza (de hombre). They will die suddenly, and the people will be troubled in the middle of the night, but they will pass through it, and the violent will be taken away without a hand.21Porque Sus ojos observan los caminos del hombre, y Él ve todos sus pasos. For his eyes are upon the ways of men, and he examines all of their steps.22No hay tiniebla, no hay oscuridad tan densa, que puedan esconderse en ella los obradores de iniquidad. There is no darkness and no shadow of death, where those who work iniquity may be hidden.23Él no necesita tiempo en el examen del hombre, para llamarlo ante Dios a juicio. For it is no longer within the power of man to enter into judgment with God.24Él quebranta a los poderosos sin necesidad de investigación, y pone a otros en su lugar. He will break into many innumerable pieces, and he will cause others to stand up in their place.25Por eso, conociendo las obras de ellos los derriba de noche y están destruidos. For he knows their works, and, as a result, he will bring the night, and they will be crushed.26Los castiga, siendo como son malos, en un lugar donde (todos) lo ven, Just as the impious do, he has struck them in a place where they can be seen.27porque alejándose de Él, no quisieron saber nada de sus caminos. They, as if with great diligence, have withdrawn from him, and they refused to understand all his ways,28Hicieron llegar a Él el clamor de los humildes, y Él oyó el lamento de los afligidos. so that they caused the outcry of the needy to reach him, and he heard the voice of the poor.29Cuando Él calla, ¿quién podrá condenarlo? si esconde su rostro, ¿quién le verá, ya sea nación o bien un particular? For, when he grants peace, who is there that can condemn? When he hides his face, who is there that can contemplate him, either among the nations, or among all men?30Así pone fin al dominio del impío, para que no sirva más de lazo para el pueblo. He causes a hypocritical man to reign because of the sins of the people.31Si ahora dice a Dios: «He soportado (tu castigo), no pecaré más; Therefore, since I have been speaking about God, I will not prevent you from doing the same.32enséñame Tú lo que yo no veo; si he hecho iniquidad, no la haré más.» If I have erred, you may teach me; if I have spoken unfairly, I will add no more.33¿Acaso Él debe darte el pago según el parecer tuyo, según tu negativa o conformidad? Yo no (pienso) así. Di, pues, lo que sabes. Does God require this of you because it is displeasing to you? For you were the first to speak, and not I. But if you know something better, speak.34Los hombres sensatos me dirán, lo mismo que los sabios que me oyen: Let men of understanding speak to me, and let a wise man listen to me.35«Job ha hablado neciamente, sus palabras fueron imprudentes.» But Job has been speaking foolishly, and his words contain unsound teaching.36¡Ojalá sea Job probado hasta el fin, por sus respuestas de hombre impío! My father, let Job be tested even to the end; may you not retreat from a man of iniquity.37Porque a su pecado añade la rebelión, bate palmas en medio de nosotros, y habla cada vez más contra Dios.” For he adds blasphemy on top of his sins; nevertheless, let him be constrained to be among us, and then let him provoke God to judgment with his speeches.
