Jonás 2
1Entonces Yahvé hizo venir un pez grande para que se tragara a Jonás; y estuvo Jonás en las entrañas del pez tres días y tres noches. And the Lord prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights.2Desde las entrañas del pez oró Jonás a Yahvé, y dijo: And Jonah prayed to the Lord, his God, from the belly of the fish.3“Clamé a Yahvé en mi angustia, y Él me oyó; desde el vientre del scheol pedí auxilio, y Tú has atendido a mi voz. And he said: “I cried out to the Lord from my tribulation, and he heeded me. From the belly of hell, I cried out, and you heeded my voice.4Me arrojaste a lo más profundo, al seno de los mares; me circundaron aguas torrenciales, todas tus olas y ondas pasaron sobre mí. And you have thrown me into the deep, in the heart of the sea, and a flood has encircled me. All your whirlpools and your waves have passed over me.5Entonces dije: «Desterrado he sido de delante de tus ojos, pero volveré a contemplar tu santo Templo». And I said: I am expelled from the sight of your eyes. Yet, truly, I will see your holy temple again.6Las aguas me han encerrado hasta el alma, me rodea el abismo y los juncos han enredado mi cabeza. The waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The abyss has walled me in. The ocean has covered my head.7He descendido hasta las raíces de las montañas; los cerrojos de la tierra me encerraron para siempre; pero Tú sacaste mi vida desde la fosa, Yahvé, Dios mío. I descended to the base of the mountains. The bars of the earth have enclosed me forever. And you will raise up my life from corruption, Lord, my God.8Cuando mi alma desfallecía dentro de mí, me acordé de Yahvé; y llegó mi plegaria a tu presencia en el templo santo tuyo. When my soul was in anguish within me, I called to mind the Lord, so that my prayer might come to you, to your holy temple.9Los que van tras las mentirosas vanidades abandonan su misericordia. Mas yo te ofreceré sacrificios con cánticos de alabanza; cumpliré los votos que he hecho, pues de Yahvé viene la salvación.” Those who in vain observe vanities, abandon their own mercy.10Entonces Yahvé dio orden al pez, y este vomitó a Jonás en tierra. But I, with a voice of praise, will sacrifice to you. I will repay whatever I have vowed to the Lord, because of my salvation.”
