1Y llamando a sus doce discípulos, les dio potestad de echar a los espíritus inmundos y de sanar toda enfermedad y toda dolencia. And having called together his twelve disciples, he gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out and to cure every sickness and every infirmity.2He aquí los nombres de los doce Apóstoles: primero Simón, llamado Pedro, y Andrés su hermano; Santiago el de Zebedeo y Juan su hermano; Now the names of the twelve Apostles are these: the First, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother,3Felipe y Bartolomé; Tomas y Mateo el publicano; Santiago, el de Alfeo, y Tadeo; James of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector, and James of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus,4Simón el Cananeo, y Judas el Iscariote, el mismo que lo entregó. Cure the infirm, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You have received freely, so give freely.9No tengáis ni oro, ni plata, ni cobre en vuestros cintos; Do not choose to possess gold, nor silver, nor money in your belts,10ni alforja para el camino, ni dos túnicas, ni sandalias, ni bastón; porque el obrero es acreedor a su sustento. nor provisions for the journey, nor two tunics, nor shoes, nor a staff. For the laborer deserves his portion.11Llegados a una ciudad o aldea, informaos de quien en ella es digno, y quedaos allí hasta vuestra partida. Now, into whatever city or town you will enter, inquire as to who is worthy within it. And stay there until you depart.12Al entrar a una casa decidle el saludo (de paz). Then, when you enter into the house, greet it, saying, ‘Peace to this house.’13Si la casa es digna, venga vuestra paz a ella; mas si no es digna, vuestra paz se vuelva a vosotros. And if, indeed, that house is worthy, your peace will rest upon it. But if it is not worthy, your peace will return to you.14Y si alguno no quiere recibiros ni escuchar vuestras palabras, salid de aquella casa o de aquella ciudad y sacudid el polvo de vuestros pies. And whoever has neither received you, nor listened to your words, departing from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.15En verdad, os digo, que en el día del juicio (el destino) será más tolerable para la tierra de Sodoma y Gomorra que para aquella ciudad”. Amen I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.16“Mirad que Yo os envío como ovejas en medio de lobos. Sed, pues, prudentes como las serpientes, y sencillos como las palomas. Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore, be as prudent as serpents and as simple as doves.17Guardaos de los hombres, porque os entregarán a los sanhedrines y os azotarán en sus sinagogas, But beware of men. For they will hand you over to councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues.18y por causa de Mí seréis llevados ante gobernadores y reyes, en testimonio para ellos y para las naciones. And you shall be led before both rulers and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.19Mas cuando os entregaren, no os preocupéis de cómo o qué hablaréis. Lo que habéis de decir os será dado en aquella misma hora. But when they hand you over, do not choose to think about how or what to speak. For what to speak shall be given to you in that hour.20Porque no sois vosotros los que habláis, sino que el Espíritu de vuestro Padre es quien, habla en vosotros. For it is not you who will be speaking, but the Spirit of your Father, who will speak in you.21Y entregará a la muerte hermano a hermano y padre a hijo; y se levantarán hijos contra padres y los harán morir. And brother will hand over brother to death, and father will hand over son. And children will rise up against parents and bring about their deaths.22Y seréis odiados de todos por causa de mi nombre; pero el que perseverare hasta el fin, ese será salvo. And you will be hated by all for the sake of my name. But whoever will have persevered, even to the end, the same shall be saved.23Cuando os persiguieren en una ciudad, huid a otra. En verdad, os digo, no acabaréis (de predicar en) las ciudades de Israel antes que venga el Hijo del Hombre”. Now when they persecute you in one city, flee into another. Amen I say to you, you will not have exhausted all the cities of Israel, before the Son of man returns.24“El discípulo no es mejor que su maestro, ni el siervo mejor que su amo. The disciple is not above the teacher, nor is the servant above his master.25Basta al discípulo ser como su maestro, y al siervo ser como su amo. Si al dueño de casa llamaron Beelzebul, ¿cuánto más a los de su casa? It is sufficient for the disciple that he be like his teacher, and the servant, like his master. If they have called the Father of the family, ‘Beelzebub,’ how much more those of his household?26No los temáis. Nada hay oculto que no deba ser descubierto, y nada secreto que no deba ser conocido. Therefore, do not fear them. For nothing is covered that shall not be revealed, nor hidden that shall not be known.27Lo que os digo en las tinieblas, repetidlo en pleno día; lo que oís al oído, proclamadlo desde las azoteas. What I tell you in darkness, speak in the light. And what you hear whispered in the ear, preach above the rooftops.28Y no temáis a los que matan el cuerpo, y que no pueden matar el alma; mas temed a aquel que puede perder alma y cuerpo en la gehenna. And do not be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. But instead fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Hell.29¿No se venden dos gorriones por un as? Ahora bien, ni uno de ellos caerá en tierra sin disposición de vuestro Padre. Are not two sparrows sold for one small coin? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father.30En cuanto a vosotros, todos los cabellos de vuestra cabeza están contados. For even the hairs of your head have all been numbered.31No temáis, pues vosotros valéis más que muchos gorriones”. Therefore, do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.32“A todo aquel que me confiese delante de los hombres, Yo también lo confesaré delante de mi Padre celestial; Therefore, everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father, who is in heaven.33mas a quien me niegue delante de los hombres, Yo también lo negaré delante de mi Padre celestial. But whoever will have denied me before men, I also will deny before my Father, who is in heaven.34No creáis que he venido a traer la paz sobre la tierra. No he venido a traer paz, sino espada. Do not think that I came to send peace upon the earth. I came, not to send peace, but the sword.35He venido, en efecto, a separar al hombre de su padre, a la hija de su madre, a la nuera de su suegra; For I came to divide a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.36y serán enemigos del hombre los de su propia casa. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever loves son or daughter above me is not worthy of me.38Quien no toma su cruz y me sigue, no es digno de Mí. And whoever does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.39Quien halla su vida, la perderá; y quien pierde su vida por Mí, la hallará”. Whoever finds his life, will lose it. And whoever will have lost his life because of me, shall find it.40Quien a vosotros recibe, a Mí me recibe, y quien me recibe a Mí, recibe a Aquel que me envió. Whoever receives you, receives me. And whoever receives me, receives him who sent me.41Quien recibe a un profeta a título de profeta, recibirá la recompensa de profeta; quien recibe a un justo a título de justo, recibirá la recompensa del justo. Whoever receives a prophet, in the name of a prophet, shall receive the reward of a prophet. And whoever receives the just in the name of the just shall receive the reward of the just.42y quienquiera diere de beber tan solo un vaso de agua fría a uno de estos pequeños, a título de discípulo, en verdad os digo, no perderá su recompensa”. And whoever shall give, even to one of the least of these, a cup of cold water to drink, solely in the name of a disciple: Amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”
