1Respondiendo Jesús les habló de nuevo en parábolas, y dijo: And responding, Jesus again spoke to them in parables, saying:2“El reino de los cielos es semejante a un rey que celebró las bodas de su hijo. “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who was king, who celebrated a wedding for his son.3Y envió a sus siervos a llamar a los convidados a las bodas, mas ellos no quisieron venir. And he sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding. But they were not willing to come.4Entonces envió a otros siervos, a los cuales dijo: “Decid a los convidados: Tengo preparado mi banquete; mis toros y animales cebados han sido sacrificados ya, y todo está a punto: venid a las bodas”. Again, he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell the invited: Behold, I have prepared my meal. My bulls and fatlings have been killed, and all is ready. Come to the wedding.’5Pero, sin hacerle caso, se fueron el uno a su granja, el otro a sus negocios. But they ignored this and they went away: one to his country estate, and another to his business.6Y los restantes agarraron a los siervos, los ultrajaron y los mataron. Yet truly, the rest took hold of his servants and, having treated them with contempt, killed them.7El rey, encolerizado, envió sus soldados, hizo perecer a aquellos homicidas, y quemó su ciudad. But when the king heard this, he was angry. And sending out his armies, he destroyed those murderers, and he burned their city.8Entonces dijo a sus siervos: “Las bodas están preparadas, mas los convidados no eran dignos. Then he said to his servants: ‘The wedding, indeed, has been prepared. But those who were invited were not worthy.9Id, pues, a las encrucijadas de los caminos, y a todos cuantos halléis, invitadlos a las bodas”. Therefore, go out to the ways, and call whomever you will find to the wedding.’10Salieron aquellos siervos a los caminos, y reunieron a todos cuantos hallaron, malos y buenos, y la sala de las bodas quedó llena de convidados. And his servants, departing into the ways, gathered all those whom they found, bad and good, and the wedding was filled with guests.11Mas cuando el rey entró para ver a los comensales, notó a un hombre que no estaba vestido con el traje de boda. Then the king entered to see the guests. And he saw a man there who was not clothed in a wedding garment.12Díjole: “Amigo, ¿cómo has entrado aquí sin tener el traje de boda?” Y él enmudeció. And he said to him, ‘Friend, how is it that you have entered here without having a wedding garment?’ But he was dumbstruck.13Entonces el rey dijo a los siervos: “Atadlo de pies y manos, y arrojadlo a las tinieblas de afuera; allí será el llanto y el rechinar de dientes. Then the king said to the ministers: ‘Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.14Porque muchos son llamados, mas pocos escogidos”. For many are called, but few are chosen.’ ”15Entonces los fariseos se fueron y deliberaron cómo le sorprenderían en alguna palabra. Then the Pharisees, going out, took counsel as to how they might entrap him in speech.16Le enviaron, pues, sus discípulos con los herodianos, a decirle: “Maestro, sabemos que eres veraz y que enseñas el camino de Dios con verdad, sin miedo a nadie, porque no miras a la persona de los hombres. And they sent their disciples to him, with the Herodians, saying: “Teacher, we know that you are truthful, and that you teach the way of God in truth, and that the influence of others is nothing to you. For you do not consider the reputation of men.17Dinos, pues, lo que piensas: ¿es lícito pagar tributo al César o no?” Therefore, tell us, how does it seem to you? Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar, or not?”18Mas Jesús, conociendo su malicia, repuso: “Hipócritas, ¿por qué me tentáis? But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said: “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?19Mostradme la moneda del tributo”. Y le presentaron un denario. Show me the coin of the census tax.” And they offered him a denarius.20Preguntoles: “¿De quién es esta figura y la leyenda?” And Jesus said to them, “Whose image is this, and whose inscription?”21Le respondieron: “del César”. Entonces les dijo: “Dad, pues, al César lo que es del César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios”. They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Then render to Caesar what is of Caesar; and to God what is of God.”22Oyendo esto, quedaron maravillados, y dejándolo se fueron. And hearing this, they wondered. And having left him behind, they went away.23En aquel día, algunos saduceos, los cuales dicen que no hay resurrección, se acercaron a Él, y le propusieron esta cuestión: In that day, the Sadducees, who say there is to be no resurrection, approached him. And they questioned him,24“Maestro, Moisés ha dicho: ‘Si alguno muere sin tener hijos, su hermano se casará con la cuñada, y suscitará prole a su hermano’. saying: “Teacher, Moses said: If anyone will have died, having no son, his brother shall marry his wife, and he shall raise up offspring to his brother.25Ahora bien, había entre nosotros siete hermanos. El primero se casó y murió; y como no tuviese descendencia, dejó su mujer a su hermano. Now there were seven brothers with us. And the first, having taken a wife, died. And having no offspring, he left his wife to his brother:26Sucedió lo mismo con el segundo, y con el tercero, hasta el séptimo. similarly with the second, and the third, even to the seventh.27Después de todos murió la mujer. And last of all, the woman also passed away.28En la resurrección, pues, ¿de cuál de los siete será mujer? Porque todos la tuvieron”. In the resurrection, then, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her.”29Respondioles Jesús y dijo: “Erráis, por no entender las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios. But Jesus responded to them by saying: “You have gone astray by knowing neither the Scriptures, nor the power of God.30Pues en la resurrección, ni se casan (los hombres ), ni se dan (las mujeres) en matrimonio, sino que son como ángeles de Dios en el cielo. For in the resurrection, they shall neither marry, nor be given in marriage. Instead, they shall be like the Angels of God in heaven.31Y en cuanto a la resurrección de los muertos, ¿no habéis leído lo que os ha dicho Dios: But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken by God, saying to you:32“Yo soy el Dios de Abrahán, y el Dios de Isaac, y el Dios de Jacob”? Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivientes”. ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”33Al oír esto, las muchedumbres estaban poseídas de admiración por su doctrina. And when the crowds heard this, they wondered at his doctrine.34Mas los fariseos, al oír que había tapado la boca a los saduceos, vinieron a reunirse junto a Él; But the Pharisees, hearing that he had caused the Sadducees to be silent, came together as one.35y uno de ellos, doctor de la Ley, le propuso esta cuestión para tentarlo: And one of them, a doctor of the law, questioned him, to test him:36“Maestro, ¿cuál es el mayor mandamiento de la Ley?” “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”37Respondió Él: “Amarás al Señor tu Dios de todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, y con todo tu espíritu. Jesus said to him: “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God from all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38Este es el mayor y primer mandamiento. This is the greatest and first commandment.39El segundo le es semejante: “Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo”. But the second is similar to it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’40De estos dos mandamientos pende toda la Ley y los Profetas”. On these two commandments the entire law depends, and also the prophets.”41Estando aún reunidos los fariseos, Jesús les propuso esta cuestión: Then, when the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus questioned them,42“¿Qué pensáis del Cristo? ¿De quién es hijo?” Dijéronle “de David”. saying: “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “David’s.”43Replicó Él “¿Cómo, entonces, David (inspirado), por el Espíritu, lo llama “Señor”, cuando dice: He said to them: “Then how can David, in the Spirit, call him Lord, saying:44“El Señor dijo a mi Señor: Sientate a mi diestra, hasta que ponga a tus enemigos bajo tus pies”? ‘The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool?’45Si David lo llama “Señor” ¿cómo es su hijo? So then, if David calls him Lord, how can he be his son?”46Y nadie pudo responderle nada, y desde ese día nadie osó más proponerle cuestiones. And no one was able to respond to him a word. And neither did anyone dare, from that day forward, to question him.
