Marcos 13

¹Cuando Él salía del templo, uno de sus discípulos le dijo: “¡Maestro, mira! ¡qué piedras y qué edificios!” And as he was departing from the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Teacher, observe these fine stones and fine structures.”²Respondiole Jesús: “¿Ves estas grandes construcciones? No quedará piedra sobre piedra que no sea derribada”. And in response, Jesus said to him: “Do you see all these great buildings? There shall not be left stone upon stone, which is not torn down.”³Luego, estando Él sentado en el Monte de los Olivos, frente al Templo, Pedro, Santiago, Juan y Andrés le preguntaron aparte: And as he sat at the Mount of Olives, opposite the temple, Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew questioned him privately.⁴“Dinos: ¿cuándo sucederá esto?, y al estar esas cosas a punto de cumplirse todas, ¿cuál será la señal?” “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when all these things will begin to be fulfilled?”⁵Y Jesús se puso a decirles: “Estad en guardia, que nadie os induzca en error. And Jesus, answering, began to say to them: “See to it that no one leads you astray.⁶Muchos vendrán bajo mi nombre y dirán: «Yo soy (el Cristo)» y a muchos engañarán. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘For I am he,’ and they will lead many astray.⁷Cuando oigáis hablar de guerras y de rumores de guerras, no os turbéis. Esto ha de suceder, pero no es todavía el fin. But when you will have heard of wars and rumors of wars, you should not be afraid. For these things must be, but the end is not so soon.⁸Porque se levantará pueblo contra pueblo, reino contra reino. Habrá terremotos en diversos lugares, y habrá hambres. Esto es el comienzo de los dolores”. For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom over kingdom, and there shall be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are but the beginning of the sorrows.⁹“Mirad por vosotros mismos. Porque os entregarán a los sanhedrines, y seréis flagelados en las sinagogas, y compareceréis ante gobernadores y reyes, a causa de Mí, para dar testimonio ante ellos. But see to yourselves. For they will hand you over to councils, and in the synagogues you will be beaten, and you shall stand before governors and kings because of me, as a testimony for them.¹⁰Y es necesario primero que a todas las naciones sea proclamado el Evangelio. And the Gospel must first be preached to all nations.¹¹Mas cuando os llevaren para entregaros, no os afanéis anticipadamente por lo que diréis; sino decid lo que en aquel momento os será inspirado; porque no sois vosotros los que hablaréis, sino el Espíritu Santo. And when they have seized you and handed you over, do not consider in advance what to say. But whatever will be given you in that hour, say that. For you will not be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.¹²El hermano entregará a su hermano a la muerte, el padre a su hijo; y los hijos se levantarán contra sus padres y los matarán. Then brother will betray brother to death, and the father, a son; and children will rise up against their parents and will bring about their death.¹³Seréis odiados de todos a causa de mi nombre; pero el que perseverare hasta el fin, este será salvo. And you will be hated by all for the sake of my name. But whoever will have persevered unto the end, the same will be saved.¹⁴Mas cuando veáis la abominación de la desolación instalada allí donde no debe —¡entienda el que lee!—, entonces, los que estén en Judea, huyan a las montañas; Then, when you have seen the abomination of desolation, standing where it ought not to be, let the reader understand: then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.¹⁵quien se encuentre en la azotea, no baje ni entre para tomar nada en su casa; And let whoever is on the rooftop not descend to the house, nor enter so as to take anything from the house.¹⁶quien vaya al campo, no vuelva atrás para tomar su manto. And let whoever may be in the field not return to take his garment.¹⁷¡Ay de las mujeres que estén encintas y de las que críen por aquellos días! But woe to those who are pregnant or nursing in those days.¹⁸Y orad, para que no acontezca en invierno”. Truly, pray that these things may not happen in winter.¹⁹“Porque habrá en aquellos días tribulación tal, cual no la hubo desde el principio de la creación que hizo Dios, hasta el presente, ni la habrá. For those days shall have such tribulations as have not been since the beginning of the creation that God founded, even until now, and shall not be.²⁰Y si el Señor no hubiese acortado los días, ningún viviente escaparía; mas a causa de los escogidos que Él eligió, ha acortado esos días. And unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would be saved. But, for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened the days.²¹Entonces, si os dicen: «Helo a Cristo aquí o allí», no lo creáis. And then, if anyone will have said to you: ‘Behold, here is the Christ. Behold, in that place.’ Do not believe it.²²Porque surgirán falsos Cristos y falsos profetas, que harán señales y prodigios para descarriar aun a los elegidos, si fuera posible. For false Christs and false prophets will rise up, and they will present signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if it were possible, even the elect.²³Vosotros, pues, estad alerta; ved que os lo he predicho todo”. Therefore, you must take heed. Behold, I have foretold all to you.²⁴“Pero en aquellos días, después de la tribulación aquella, el sol se oscurecerá, y la luna no dará su resplandor, But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her splendor.²⁵y los astros estarán cayendo del cielo, y las fuerzas que hay en los cielos serán sacudidas. And the stars of heaven will be falling down, and the powers that are in heaven will be moved.²⁶Entonces, verán al Hijo del hombre viniendo en las nubes con gran poder y gloria. And then they shall see the Son of man arriving on the clouds, with great power and glory.²⁷Y entonces enviará a los ángeles, y congregará a sus elegidos de los cuatro vientos, desde la extremidad de la tierra hasta la extremidad del cielo”. And then he will send his Angels, and gather together his elect, from the four winds, from the limits of the earth, to the limits of heaven.²⁸“De la higuera aprended la semejanza: cuando ya sus ramas se ponen tiernas, y brotan las hojas, conocéis que el verano esta cerca; Now from the fig tree discern a parable. When its branch becomes tender and the foliage has been formed, you know that summer is very near.²⁹así también, cuando veáis suceder todo esto, sabed que (Él) está cerca, a las puertas. So also, when you will have seen these things happen, know that it is very near, even at the doors.³⁰En verdad, os digo, la generación esta no pasará sin que todas estas cosas se hayan efectuado. Amen I say to you, that this lineage shall not pass away, until all these things have happened.³¹El cielo y la tierra pasarán, pero mis palabras no pasarán”. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my word shall not pass away.³²“Mas en cuanto al día y la hora, nadie sabe, ni los mismos ángeles del cielo, ni el Hijo, sino el Padre. But concerning that day or hour, no one knows, neither the Angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.³³¡Mirad!, ¡velad! porque no sabéis cuándo será el tiempo; Take heed, be vigilant, and pray. For you do not know when the time may be.³⁴como un hombre que partiendo para otro país, dejó su casa y dio a sus siervos la potestad, a cada uno su tarea, y al portero encomendó que velase. It is like a man who, setting out on a sojourn, left behind his house, and gave his servants authority over every work, and instructed the doorkeeper to stand watch.³⁵Velad, pues, porque no sabéis cuando volverá el Señor de la casa, si en la tarde, o a la medianoche, o al canto del gallo, o en la mañana, Therefore, be vigilant, for you do not know when the lord of the house may arrive: in the evening, or in the middle of the night, or at first light, or in the morning.³⁶no sea que volviendo de improviso, os encuentre dormidos. Otherwise, when he will have arrived unexpectedly, he may find you sleeping.³⁷Lo que os digo a vosotros, lo digo a todos: ¡Velad!”. But what I say to you, I say to all: Be vigilant.”
