Proverbios 10
1Parábolas de Salomón. Un hijo sabio es la alegría de su padre, y un hijo necio el desconsuelo de su madre. A wise son gladdens the father. Yet truly, a foolish son is the grief of his mother.2Nada aprovechan los tesoros de iniquidad, pero la justicia libra de la muerte. Treasures of impiety will profit nothing. Truly, justice shall liberate from death.3Yahvé no permite que el justo sufra hambre, al par que desatiende los apetitos de los malvados. The Lord will not afflict with famine the soul of the just, and he will overthrow the treacheries of the impious.4La mano indolente empobrece, y la mano laboriosa enriquece. The neglectful hand has wrought destitution. But the hand of the steadfast prepares riches. He who advances by lies, this one feeds on the wind. For he is the same as one who runs after flying birds.5Quien en verano recoge, es hijo sabio; el que ronca en la siega, se acarrea deshonra. He who gathers the harvest is a wise son. But he who snores in warm weather is a son of confusion.6La bendición (descansa) sobre la cabeza del justo, mientras los labios de los malvados encubren la maldad. The blessing of the Lord is on the head of the just. But iniquity covers the mouth of the impious.7La memoria del justo será bendita, pero el nombre de los malos es podredumbre. The remembrance of the just is with praises. And the name of the impious shall decay.8El sabio de corazón acepta los preceptos, el necio de labios, en cambio, caerá. The wise of heart accept precepts. The foolish are cut down by the lips.9Quien procede con rectitud anda seguro, mas el que tuerce sus caminos vendrá a ser descubierto. He who walks in simplicity walks in confidence. But he who corrupts his ways shall be discovered.10Quien guiña los ojos causa dolores; y el necio de labios va a la perdición. He who winks with the eye gives sorrow. And the foolish in lips shall be beaten.11Fuente de vida es la boca del justo; mas los labios de los malvados encubren la injusticia. The mouth of the just is a vein of life. And the mouth of the impious covers iniquity.12El odio suscita contiendas, el amor, empero, cubre todas las faltas. Hatred rises up from disputes. And charity covers all offenses.13En los labios del prudente se halla la sabiduría, mas para las espaldas del que no tiene juicio es la vara. In the lips of the wise, wisdom is discovered. And a rod is for the back of one who lacks heart.14Los sabios conservan su saber, mas la boca del necio se apresura en causar ruina. The wise store away knowledge. But the mouth of the foolish is a neighbor to confusion.15La hacienda del rico es su plaza fuerte, la desgracia de los pobres es su misma pobreza. The substance of the rich is the city of his strength. The fear of the poor is their destitution.16Los trabajos del justo son para vida, las ganancias del impío, para pecado. The work of the just is unto life. But the fruit of the impious is unto sin.17Va por senda de vida quien hace caso de la corrección, anda descarriado quien no acepta la reprensión. The way of life is for those who observe discipline. But whoever abandons correction wanders astray.18El que disimula el odio tiene labios mentirosos, y quien esparce calumnias es un insensato. Lying lips conceal hatred; whoever brings forth contempt is unwise.19En el mucho hablar no falta pecado, el sabio ahorra sus palabras. In a multitude of speaking, sin will not be lacking. But whoever tempers his lips is most prudent.20Plata finísima es la lengua del justo, mas el corazón del malvado vale muy poco. The tongue of the just is choice silver. But the heart of the impious is exchanged for nothing.21Nutren a muchos los labios del justo, mas los necios mueren por falta de inteligencia. The lips of the just instruct many. But those who are unlearned shall die in destitution of heart.22La bendición de Yahvé da prosperidad, nuestro afán no le añade nada. The blessing of the Lord causes riches. Affliction will not be a companion to them.23Es como un juego para el necio el hacer mal, y para el sensato el ser sabio. The foolish work wickedness as if in jest. But wisdom is prudence to a man.24Sobrevendrá al impío el mal que teme, mas a los justos se les concede lo que desean. What the impious fear will overwhelm them. The just shall be given their desire.25Como pasa el torbellino, así desaparece el impío, mas el justo queda cimentado para siempre. Like a passing tempest, so the impious one will be no more. But the just one is like an everlasting foundation.26Como el agraz para los dientes, y el humo para los ojos, así es el perezoso para el que le manda. Like vinegar to the teeth, and smoke to the eyes, so is a lazy one to those who sent him.27El temor de Yahvé alarga la vida, mas los años de los malvados serán abreviados. The fear of the Lord adds days. And the years of the impious will be shortened.28La esperanza de los justos se transforma en gozo, la expectación de los malos en humo. The expectation of the just is rejoicing. But the hope of the impious will perish.29El camino de Yahvé es una fortaleza para el hombre recto, pero causa de ruina para los obradores de iniquidad. The strength of the simple is the way of the Lord, and it is fear to those who work evil.30Nunca vacilará el justo, pero los impíos no subsistirán sobre la tierra. The just in eternity shall not be moved. But the impious will not live upon the earth.31La boca del justo brota sabiduría, la lengua perversa será cortada. The mouth of the just shall bring forth wisdom. The tongue of the depraved will perish.32Los labios del justo conocen la benevolencia, mas de la boca de los malvados sale la perversidad. The lips of the just consider what is acceptable. And the mouth of the impious considers perversities.
