Salmos 17
1Al maestro de coro. Del servidor de Dios, de David, el cual dirigió al Señor las palabras de este cántico en el día en que le libró de las manos de todos sus enemigos y de las de Saúl. Unto the end. For David, the servant of the Lord, who spoke the words of this canticle to the Lord, in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said:2Y dijo: Te amo, Yahvé, fortaleza mía, mi peña, mi baluarte, mi libertador, I will love you, O Lord my strength.3Dios mío, mi roca, mi refugio, broquel mío, cuerno de mi salud, asilo mío. The Lord is my firmament, my refuge, and my liberator. My God is my helper, and I hope in him: my protector, and the horn of my salvation, and my support.4Invoco a Yahvé, el digno de alabanza, y quedo libre de mis enemigos. Praising, I will call upon the Lord. And I will be saved from my enemies.5Olas de muerte me rodeaban, me alarmaban los torrentes de iniquidad; The sorrows of death surrounded me, and the torrents of iniquity dismayed me.6las ataduras del sepulcro me envolvieron, se tendían a mis pies lazos mortales. The sorrows of Hell encompassed me, and the snares of death intercepted me.7En mi angustia invoqué a Yahvé, y clamé a mi Dios; y Él, desde su palacio, oyó mi voz; mi lamento llegó a sus oídos. In my tribulation, I called upon the Lord, and I cried out to my God. And he listened to my voice from his holy temple. And my cry in his presence entered into his ears.8Se estremeció la tierra y tembló; se conmovieron los cimientos de los montes y vacilaron, porque Él ardía de furor. The earth was shaken, and it trembled. The foundations of the mountains were disturbed, and they were shaken, because he was angry with them.9Humo salió de sus narices; de su boca, fuego devorador; y despedía carbones encendidos. A smoke ascended by his wrath, and a fire flared up from his face: coals were kindled by it.10Inclinó los cielos, y descendió con densas nubes bajo sus pies. He bent the heavens, and they descended. And darkness was under his feet.11Subió sobre un querube y voló, y era llevado sobre las alas del viento. And he ascended upon the cherubim, and he flew: he flew upon the feathers of the winds.12Se ocultaba bajo un velo de tinieblas; aguas tenebrosas y oscuras nubes lo rodeaban como un pabellón. And he set darkness as his hiding place, with his tabernacle all around him: dark waters in the clouds of the air.13Se encendieron carbones de fuego al resplandor de su rostro. At the brightness that was before his sight, the clouds crossed by, with hail and coals of fire.14Tronó Yahvé desde el cielo, el Altísimo hizo resonar su voz; And the Lord thundered from heaven, and the Most High uttered his voice: hail and coals of fire.15y lanzó sus saetas y los dispersó; multiplicó sus rayos, y los puso en derrota. And he sent forth his arrows and scattered them. He multiplied lightnings, and he set them in disarray.16Y aparecieron a la vista los lechos de los océanos; se mostraron desnudos los cimientos del orbe terráqueo, ante la amenaza de Yahvé, al resollar el soplo de su ira. Then the fountains of waters appeared, and the foundations of the world were revealed, by your rebuke, O Lord, by the inspiration of the Spirit of your wrath.17Desde lo alto extendió su brazo y me arrebató, sacándome de entre las muchas aguas; He sent from on high, and he accepted me. And he took me up, out of many waters.18me libró de mi feroz enemigo, de adversarios más poderosos que yo. He rescued me from my strongest enemies, and from those who hated me. For they had been too strong for me.19Se echaron sobre mí en el día de mi infortunio; pero salió Yahvé en mi defensa, They intercepted me in the day of my affliction, and the Lord became my protector.20y me trajo a la anchura; me salvó porque me ama. And he led me out, into a wide place. He accomplished my salvation, because he willed me.21Yahvé me ha retribuido conforme a mi rectitud; me remunera según la limpieza de mis manos. And the Lord will reward me according to my justice, and he will repay me according to the purity of my hands.22Porque seguí los caminos de Yahvé, y no me rebelé contra mi Dios; For I have preserved the ways of the Lord, and I have not behaved impiously before my God.23porque mantuve ante mis ojos todos sus mandamientos y nunca aparté de mí sus estatutos. For all his judgments are in my sight, and his justice, I have not pushed away from me.24Fui íntegro para con Él, y me cuidé de mi maldad. And I will be immaculate together with him, and I will keep myself from my iniquity.25Yahvé me ha retribuido conforme a mi rectitud; según la limpieza de mis manos ante sus ojos. And the Lord will reward me according to my justice and according to the purity of my hands before his eyes.26Tú eres misericordioso con el misericordioso; con el varón recto, eres recto. With the holy, you will be holy, and with the innocent, you will be innocent,27Con el sincero, eres sincero; y con el doble, te haces astuto. and with the elect, you will be elect, and with the perverse, you will be perverse.28Tú salvas al pueblo oprimido, y humillas los ojos altaneros. For you will save the humble people, but you will bring down the eyes of the arrogant.29Eres Tú quien mantiene encendida mi lámpara, oh Yahvé; Tú, Dios mío, disipas mis tinieblas. For you illuminate my lamp, O Lord. My God, enlighten my darkness.30Fiado en Ti embestiré a un ejército; con mi Dios saltaré murallas. For in you, I will be delivered from temptation; and with my God, I will climb over a wall.31¡El Dios mío!... Su conducta es perfecta, Su palabra acrisolada. Él mismo es el escudo de cuantos lo buscan como refugio. As for my God, his way is undefiled. The eloquence of the Lord has been examined by fire. He is the protector of all who hope in him.32Pues ¿quién es Dios fuera de Yahvé? o ¿qué roca hay si no es el Dios nuestro? For who is God, except the Lord? And who is God, except our God?33Aquel Dios que me ciñó de fortaleza e hizo inmaculado mi camino. It is God who has wrapped me with virtue and made my way immaculate.34El que volvió mis pies veloces como los del ciervo, y me afirmó sobre las cumbres. It is he who has perfected my feet, like the feet of deer, and who stations me upon the heights.35El que adiestró mis manos para la pelea, y mi brazo para tender el arco de bronce. It is he who trains my hands for battle. And you have set my arms like a bow of brass.36Tú me diste por broquel tu auxilio, me sostuvo tu diestra; tu solicitud me ha engrandecido. And you have given me the protection of your salvation. And your right hand sustains me. And your discipline has corrected me unto the end. And your discipline itself will teach me.37Ensanchaste el camino a mis pasos, y mis pies no flaquearon. You have expanded my footsteps under me, and my tracks have not been weakened.38Perseguía a mis enemigos y los alcanzaba; y no me volvía hasta desbaratarlos. I will pursue my enemies and apprehend them. And I will not turn back until they have failed.39Los destrozaba y no podían levantarse; caían bajo mis pies. I will break them, and they will not be able to stand. They will fall under my feet.40Tú me revestías de valor para el combate, sujetabas a mi cetro a los que me resistían. And you have wrapped me with virtue for the battle. And those rising up against me, you have subdued under me.41Ponías en fuga a mis enemigos, dispersabas a cuantos me aborrecían. And you have given the back of my enemies to me, and you have destroyed those who hated me.42Vociferaban, mas no había quien los auxiliase; (clamaban) a Yahvé mas Él no los oía. They cried out, but there was none to save them, to the Lord, but he did not heed them.43Y yo los dispersaba como polvo que el viento dispersa; los pisoteaba como el lodo de las calles. And I will crush them into dust before the face of the wind, so that I will obliterate them like the mud in the streets.44Me libraste de las contiendas del pueblo, me has hecho cabeza de las naciones; un pueblo que no conocía me sirve; You will rescue me from the contradictions of the people. You will set me at the head of the Gentiles.45con atento oído me obedecen; los extraños me adulan. A people I did not know has served me. As soon as their ears heard, they were obedient to me.46Los extranjeros palidecen, y abandonan, temblando, sus fortalezas. The sons of foreigners have been deceitful to me, the sons of foreigners have grown weak with time, and they have wavered from their paths.47¡Vive Yahvé! ¡Bendita sea mi Roca! ¡Sea ensalzado el Dios mi Salvador! The Lord lives, and blessed is my God, and may the God of my salvation be exalted:48Aquel Dios que me otorgó la venganza, que sujetó a mí las naciones; O God, who vindicates me and who subdues the people under me, my liberator from my enraged enemies.49que me libró de mis enemigos, que me encumbró sobre mis opositores, y me salvó de las manos del hombre violento. And you will exalt me above those who rise up against me. From the iniquitous man, you will rescue me.50Por eso te alabaré entre las naciones, oh Yahvé; cantaré himnos a tu Nombre. Because of this, O Lord, I will confess to you among the nations, and I will compose a psalm to your name:51Él da grandes victorias a su rey, y usa de misericordia con su ungido, con David y su linaje, por toda la eternidad. magnifying the salvation of his king, and showing mercy to David, his Christ, and to his offspring, even for all time.
