Salmos 72
1De Asaf. ¡Cuán bueno es Dios para Israel, el Señor para los que son rectos de corazón! A Psalm of Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to those who are upright in heart.2Pero, mis pies casi resbalaron, cerca estuve de dar un mal paso; But my feet were nearly moved; my steps had nearly slipped.3porque envidiaba a los jactanciosos al observar la prosperidad de los pecadores. For I was zealous over the iniquitous, seeing the peacefulness of sinners.4No hay para ellos tribulaciones; su cuerpo está sano y robusto. For they have no respect for their death, nor do they have support in their wounds.5No conocen las inquietudes de los mortales, ni son golpeados como los demás hombres. They are not with the hardships of men, nor will they be scourged with men.6Por eso la soberbia los envuelve como un collar; y la violencia los cubre como un manto. Therefore, arrogance has held on to them. They have been covered with their iniquity and impiety.7De su craso corazón desborda su iniquidad; desfogan los caprichos de su ánimo. Their iniquity has proceeded, as if from fat. They have parted from the affection of the heart.8Zahieren y hablan con malignidad, y altivamente amenazan con su opresión. They have thought and spoken wickedness. They have spoken iniquity in high places.9Su boca se abre contra el cielo, y su lengua se pasea por toda la tierra. They have set their mouth against heaven, and their tongue has traversed the earth.10Así el pueblo se vuelve hacia ellos y encuentra sus días plenos; Therefore, my people will be converted here, and fullness of days will be found in them.11y dice: “¿Acaso lo sabe Dios? ¿Tiene conocimiento el Altísimo? And they said, “How would God know?” and, “Isn’t there knowledge in high places?”12Ved cómo tales impíos están siempre tranquilos y aumentan su poder. Behold, these are sinners, and, abounding in this age, they have obtained riches.13Luego, en vano he guardado puro mi corazón, y lavado mis manos en la inocencia, And I said: So then, it is without purpose that I have justified my heart and washed my hands among the innocent.14pues padezco flagelos todo el tiempo y soy atormentado cada día.” And I have been scourged all day long, and I have received my chastisement in the mornings.15Si yo dijere: “Hablaré como ellos”, renegaría del linaje de tus hijos. If I were to say that I would explain this: Behold, I would condemn this nation of your sons.16Me puse, pues, a reflexionar para comprender esto; pero me pareció demasiado difícil para mí. I considered, so that I might know this. It is a hardship before me,17Hasta que penetré en los santos arcanos de Dios, y consideré la suerte final de aquellos hombres. until I may enter into the Sanctuary of God, and understand it to its last part.18En verdad Tú los pones en un camino resbaladizo y los dejas precipitarse en la ruina. So, because of deceitfulness, truly, you have placed it before them. While they were being lifted up, you were casting them down.19¡Cómo se deslizaron de golpe! Son arrebatados, consumidos por el terror, How have they been brought to desolation? They have suddenly failed. They have perished because of their iniquity.20son como quien despierta de un sueño; así Tú, Señor, al despertar despreciarás su ficción. As a dream is to those who awaken, O Lord, so will you reduce their image to nothing in your city.21Cuando, pues, exasperaba mi mente y se torturaban mis entrañas, For my heart has been inflamed, and my temperament has been changed.22era yo un estúpido que no entendía; fui delante de Ti como un jumento. And so, I have been reduced to nothing, and I did not know it.23Mas yo estaré contigo siempre, Tú me has tomado de la mano derecha. I have become like a beast of burden to you, and I am always with you.24Por tu consejo me conducirás, y al fin me recibirás en la gloria. You have held my right hand. And in your will, you have conducted me, and with your glory, you have taken me up.25¿Quién hay para mí en el cielo sino Tú? Y si contigo estoy ¿qué podrá deleitarme en la tierra? For what is there for me in heaven? And what do I wish for on earth before you?26La carne y el corazón mío desfallecen, la roca de mi corazón es Dios, herencia mía para siempre. My body has failed, and my heart: O God of my heart, and God my portion, into eternity.27Pues he aquí que cuantos de Ti se apartan perecerán; Tú destruyes a todos los que se prostituyen, alejándose de Ti. For behold, those who put themselves far from you will perish. You have perished all those who fornicate away from you.28Mas para mí la dicha consiste en estar unido a Dios. He puesto en el Señor Dios mi refugio para proclamar todas tus obras en las puertas de la hija de Sión. But it is good for me to adhere to God, to put my hope in the Lord God, so that I may announce all your prophecies, at the gates of the daughter of Zion.
