1Oración de Moisés, varón de Dios. Oh Señor, Tú eres de generación en generación. A prayer of Moses, the man of God. O Lord, you have been our refuge from generation to generation.2Antes que los montes fuesen engendrados, y naciesen la tierra y el orbe, y desde la eternidad hasta la eternidad, Tú, oh Dios, eres. Before the mountains became, or the land was formed along with the world: from ages past, even to all ages, you are God.3Tú reduces a los mortales al polvo, y les dices: “Reintegraos, hijos de Adán.” And, lest man be turned aside in humiliation, you have said: Be converted, O sons of men.4Así como mil años son a tus ojos lo que el día de ayer, una vez que ha pasado, y lo que una vigilia de la noche, For a thousand years before your eyes are like the days of yesterday, which have passed by, and they are like a watch of the night,5así (a los hombres) los arrebatas, y son como un sueño matutino, como la hierba verde; which was held for nothing: so their years shall be.6que a la mañana está en flor y crece, y a la tarde es cortada y se seca. In the morning, he may pass away like grass; in the morning, he may flower and pass away. In the evening, he will fall, and harden, and become dry.7Así también nos consumimos a causa de tu ira, y estamos conturbados por tu indignación. For, at your wrath, we have withered away, and we have been disturbed by your fury.8Has puesto ante tus ojos nuestros delitos, y a la luz de tu rostro nuestros pecados ocultos, You have placed our iniquities in your sight, our age in the illumination of your countenance.9porque todos nuestros días declinan por efecto de tu ira, nuestros días pasan como un suspiro. For all our days have faded away, and at your wrath, we have fainted. Our years will be considered to be like a spider’s web.10Los días de nuestra vida son en suma setenta años, y en los robustos, ochenta; y los más de ellos son pena y vanidad, porque pronto han pasado y nos volamos. The days of our years in them are seventy years. But in the powerful, they are eighty years, and more of these are with hardship and sorrow. For mildness has overwhelmed us, and we shall be corrected.11¿Quién pesa según el temor que te es debido la vehemencia de tu ira y tu indignación? Who knows the power of your wrath? And, before fear, can your wrath12Enséñanos a contar nuestros días, para que lleguemos a la sabiduría del corazón. be numbered? So make known your right hand, along with men learned in heart, in wisdom.13Vuélvete, Yahvé —¿hasta cuándo?— y sé propicio a tus siervos. Return, O Lord, how long? And may you be persuaded on behalf of your servants.14Sácianos con tu misericordia desde temprano, para que nos gocemos y nos alegremos todos nuestros días. We were filled in the morning with your mercy, and we exulted and delighted all our days.15Alégranos por los días en que nos humillaste, por los años en que conocimos la desventura. We have been rejoicing, because of the days in which you humbled us, because of the years in which we saw evils.16Manifiéstese a tus siervos tu obra, y a sus hijos tu gloria. Look down upon your servants and upon their works, and direct their sons.17Y la bondad del Señor, nuestro Dios, sea sobre nosotros; y conduce Tú las obras de nuestras manos, [para que prospere la obra de nuestras manos]. And may the splendor of the Lord our God be upon us. And so, direct the works of our hands over us; direct even the work of our hands.
