Twenty-four steps go down to a rock-cut tomb with antechamber and burial chamber, venerated as Lazarus’ since the fourth century; three successive churches stood above it. Next to it, the Franciscan church of 1954 leaves the Byzantine and Crusader apses and floor mosaics on view.
