A freshwater lake roughly 21 by 12 km, 210 m below sea level, ringed by hills that funnel sudden westerly winds onto it. At Kibbutz Ginosar the so-called Jesus Boat is on display, a first-century fishing hull found in the mud in 1986 when the water dropped. Boats cross between Tiberias and the north-eastern shore.
