Can you visit it today?

The southern quarter of Herod Antipas’ city is under excavation: the gate with its round towers, a colonnaded street, a theatre of some seven thousand seats, and the baths. In the modern town are the tombs of Maimonides and Rabbi Meir, a place of Jewish pilgrimage, and at Hamat Tiberias the fourth-century synagogue with its zodiac mosaic beside the hot springs.

Where it is
On the western shore of the Sea of Galilee, 200 m below sea level.
