Salmos 77
1Maskil de Asaf. Escucha, pueblo mío, mi enseñanza; presta oído a las palabras de mis labios. The understanding of Asaph. O my people, attend to my law. Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.2Voy a abrir mi boca en un poema, y evocaré escondidas lecciones del pasado. I will open my mouth in parables. I will speak about concepts that are from the beginning.3Lo que hemos oído y aprendido, lo que nos han contado nuestros padres, We have heard and known such great things, as our fathers have described to us.4no lo ocultaremos a sus hijos; relataremos a la generación venidera las glorias de Yahvé y su poderío, y las maravillas que Él hizo. These things have not been hidden from their sons in any generation: declaring the praises of the Lord, and his virtues, and the wonders that he has done.5Porque Él, habiendo dado testimonio a Jacob, y establecido una ley en Israel, mandó a nuestros padres enseñarlo a sus hijos, And he has received testimony with Jacob, and he has set a law within Israel. Such great things, he has commanded our fathers, so as to make these things known to their sons,6para que lo supiera la generación siguiente, y a su vez los hijos nacidos de esta lo narrasen a sus propios hijos; so that another generation might know them, and so that the sons, who will be born and who will grow up, shall describe them to their sons.7de suerte que pongan en Dios su confianza, no olvidando los beneficios de Yahvé y observando sus mandamientos; So then, may they put their hope in God, and may they not forget the works of God, and may they seek his commandments.8para que no vengan a ser como sus padres, una raza indócil y contumaz; generación que no tuvo el corazón sencillo ni el espíritu fiel a Dios. May they not become like their fathers, a perverse and exasperating generation: a generation that does not straighten their heart and whose spirit is not trustworthy with God.9Los hijos de Efraím, muy diestros arqueros, volvieron las espaldas en el día de la batalla; The sons of Ephraim, who bend and shoot the bow, have been turned back in the day of battle.10no guardaron la alianza con Dios, rehusaron seguir su ley; They have not kept the covenant of God. And they were not willing to walk in his law.11olvidaron sus obras y las maravillas que hizo ante los ojos de ellos. And they have been forgetful of his benefits, and of his miracle, which he revealed to them.12A la vista de sus padres Él había hecho prodigios en el país de Egipto, en los campos de Tanis. And he led them with a cloud by day, and with illumination by fire throughout the night.15Hendió la roca en el desierto, y les dio de beber aguas copiosísimas. He broke through the rock in the wasteland, and he gave them to drink, as if from the great abyss.16Sacó torrentes de la peña, hizo salir aguas como ríos. He brought forth water from the rock, and he conducted the waters, as if they were rivers.17Mas ellos continuaron pecando contra Él, resistiendo al Altísimo en el yermo; And yet, they continued to sin against him. In a waterless place, they provoked the Most High with resentment.18tentaron a Dios en sus corazones, pidiendo comida según su antojo. And they tempted God in their hearts, by asking for food according to their desires.19Y hablando mal de Dios, dijeron: “¿Podrá Dios prepararnos una mesa en el desierto? And they spoke badly about God. They said, “Would God be able to prepare a table in the desert?20Cierto es que hirió la peña, y brotaron aguas y corrieron torrentes; mas ¿podrá también dar pan y proveer de carne a su pueblo?” He struck the rock, and so waters flowed and the torrents flooded, but would even he be able to provide bread, or provide a table, for his people?”21Yahvé lo oyó y se indignó; su fuego se encendió contra Jacob, y subió de punto su ira contra Israel, Therefore, the Lord heard, and he was dismayed, and a fire was kindled within Jacob, and an anger ascended into Israel.22porque no creyeron a Dios, ni confiaron en su auxilio. For they neither put their trust in God, nor did they hope in his salvation.23Con todo, ordenó a las nubes en lo alto, abrió las puertas del cielo, And he commanded the clouds from above, and he opened the doors of heaven.24y llovió sobre ellos maná para su sustento, dándoles trigo del cielo. And he rained down manna upon them to eat, and he gave them the bread of heaven.25Pan de fuertes comió el hombre, les envió comida hasta hartarlos. Man ate the bread of Angels. He sent them provisions in abundance.26Después levantó el viento solano en el cielo, guio con su poder el ábrego, He transferred the south wind from heaven, and, in his virtue, he brought in the Southwest wind.27y llovió sobre ellos carne tanta como el polvo; aves volátiles como arena del mar And he rained down flesh upon them, as if it were dust, and feathered birds, as if they were the sand of the sea.28cayeron en su campamento, en derredor de sus tiendas. And he slew the fat ones among them, and he impeded the elect of Israel.32Sin embargo, pecaron de nuevo, y no dieron crédito a sus milagros. In all these things, they continued to sin, and they were not trustworthy with his miracles.33Y Él consumió sus días en un soplo, y sus años con repentinas calamidades. And their days faded away into vanity, and their years with haste.34Cuando les enviaba la muerte, entonces recurrían a Él, y volvían a convertirse a Dios, When he slew them, then they sought him. And they were mindful that God is their helper and that the Most High God is their redeemer.36Pero lo lisonjeaban con su boca, y con su lengua le mentían; And they chose him with their mouth, and then they lied to him with their tongue.37su corazón no era sincero para con Él, y no permanecieron fieles a su alianza. For their heart was not upright with him, nor have they been living faithfully in his covenant.38Él, no obstante, en su misericordia, les perdonaba su culpa, y no los exterminaba. Muchas veces contuvo su ira, y no permitió que se desahogase toda su indignación, Yet he is merciful, and he will pardon their sins. And he will not destroy them. And they turned back and tempted God, and they exasperated the Holy One of Israel.42No se acordaban ya de su mano, de aquel día en que los libertó del poder del opresor, They did not remember his hand, in the day that he redeemed them from the hand of the one troubling them.43cuando Él ostentó sus prodigios en Egipto, y sus maravillas en los campos de Tanis, Thus, he positioned his signs in Egypt and his wonders in the field of Tanis.44trocando en sangre sus ríos y sus canales, para que no bebiesen; And he turned their rivers into blood, along with their rain showers, so that they could not drink.45enviando contra ellos unos tábanos que los devoraban, y ranas que los infectaron; He sent among them the common fly, and it devoured them, and the frog, and it scattered them.46entregando sus cosechas a la oruga, y el fruto de su trabajo a la langosta; And he gave up their fruits to mold and their labors to the locust.47destruyendo con el granizo sus viñas, y con heladas sus higueras; And he slew their vineyards with hail and their mulberry trees with severe frost.48librando a la peste sus manadas, y sus rebaños al contagio; And he delivered their cattle to the hail and their possessions to fire.49desatando contra ellos el ardor de su ira, su indignación, el furor, el castigo: un tropel de ejecutores de calamidad; And he sent the wrath of his indignation among them: indignation and wrath and tribulation, sent forth by evil angels.50dando libre paso a su saña, y entregando a ellos mismos a la peste, sin perdonar sus propias vidas, He made way for the path of his anger. And he cast out the Gentiles before their face. Yet they tempted and aggravated God Most High, and they did not keep his testaments.57Apostataron y fueron traidores, como sus padres; fallaron como un arco torcido. And they turned themselves aside, and they did not serve the covenant. In the same manner as their fathers, they were turned backwards, like a crooked bow.58Lo movieron a ira con sus lugares altos, y con sus esculturas le excitaron los celos. They impelled him to anger on their hills, and they provoked him to rivalry with their graven images.59Ardió con esto el furor de Dios; acerbamente apartó de sí a Israel, God listened, and he spurned them, and he reduced Israel greatly, almost to nothing.60y abandonó el Tabernáculo de Silo, la morada que tenía entre los hombres. And he rejected the tabernacle of Shiloh, his tabernacle where he had dwelt among men.61Abandonó al cautiverio su fortaleza, y su gloria en manos del adversario. And he delivered their virtue into captivity, and their beauty into the hands of the enemy.62Entregó su pueblo a la espada, y se irritó contra su herencia. And he enclosed his people with the sword, and he spurned his inheritance.63El fuego devoró a sus jóvenes, y sus doncellas no fueron desposadas. Fire consumed their young men, and their virgins were not lamented.64A cuchillo cayeron sus sacerdotes, y sus viudas no los lloraron. Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows did not weep.65El Señor despertó entonces como de un sueño -cual gigante adormecido por el vino- And the Lord was awakened, as if out of sleep, and like a powerful man impaired by wine.66e hirió a los enemigos en la zaga, cubriéndolos de ignominia para siempre. And he struck his enemies on the back. He gave them over to everlasting disgrace.67Mas reprobó la tienda de José, y a la tribu de Efraím no la eligió, And he rejected the tabernacle of Joseph, and he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim.68y prefirió a la tribu de Judá, el monte Sión, su predilecto. But he chose the tribe of Judah: mount Zion, which he loved.69Y levantó, como cielo, su santuario, como la tierra, que fundó para siempre. And he built up his sanctuary, like a single-horned beast, in the land that he founded for all ages.70Y escogió a su siervo David, sacándolo de entre los rebaños de ovejas; And he chose his servant David, and he took him from the flocks of the sheep: he received him from following the ewes with their young,71detrás de las que amamantaban lo llamó, para que apacentase a Jacob, su pueblo, y a Israel, su heredad. in order to pasture Jacob his servant and Israel his inheritance.72Y él los apacentó con sencillez de corazón, y los guio con la destreza de sus manos. And he fed them with the innocence of his heart. And he led them with the understanding of his hands.
